NEXT SUNDAY EVENING, FEBRUARY 8, 2015 NEXT SUNDAY EVENING, FEBRUARY 8, 2015 NEXT SUNDAY EVENING, FEBRUARY 8, 2015 NEXT SUNDAY EVENING, FEBRUARY 8, 2015 “Could history be so stunningly wrong?” This is the question asked by Robert Cornuke, a biblical investigator who has been part of over 50 expeditions around the world searching for lost locations described in the Bi-ble. These include the real Mt. Sinai, Noah’s Ark, the Ark of the Covenant, Paul’s Shipwreck and many more. In this presentation, he will chronicle amazing new discoveries about the location of Solomon’s Temple. This DVD presentation challenges everything we though we knew about the location. The outcome has profound implications about the future of the holy site, wherever it is. Recorded live at the Strategic Perspectives Conference in October last year.

Dave Thomas is the Elder Contact February 1 - 7. Home phone is 681-8432. The Elders rotate responsibility for "Elder of the Week". In addition to the Pastor, this person is available 24/7 for visitation, (hospitalization, illness), prayer, counseling requests, or any issue of special concern. You may contact this elder directly or call the church office at 683-4135. Please pray for the Elder of the Week.

Stumbling Toward an Omega Point, by John Loeffler John Loeffler spoke at the Koinonia Institute Strategic Perspectives International Conference in October of 2014. Why do events today eerily remind us of the perils of yesteryear? For over a hundred years Progressives

have incrementally changed society through the dialectic process. John connects the past century to today and projects the state of society in the march toward an eventual omega point.

PAUL & ANNIE PILLAI PAUL & ANNIE PILLAI PAUL & ANNIE PILLAI PAUL & ANNIE PILLAI ---- INDIA . . . MISSIONS . . INDIA . . . MISSIONS . . INDIA . . . MISSIONS . . INDIA . . . MISSIONS . .

Dear Pray-ers: I have been reminded to remind all of us when "our" day of prayer is coming up. It is the second Mon-day of each month, and I will try to get a reminder in the on the Sunday before, which is next week. I know we pray more often than once a month, but it's special to spend an entire hour in prayer for our churches, our community, our state, and our nation. We can know from God's Word that our prayers will be listened to and answered as we humble ourselves before the Lord and repent of our failures. It was a revelation to me, as a Christian, that I still have areas to repent about. God will show us areas where He will help us to shape up as we seek Him. Beth Moore has been urging us in Heart and Hand to "get on our faces" before Him as we spend time with Him, because the way up is to get down. Carolyn Tormala

WHEN YOU PRAY:WHEN YOU PRAY:WHEN YOU PRAY:WHEN YOU PRAY: • Ask for the Lord's will to be done and to His glory. • Pray we will live so others see Christ fleshed out and that we’ll serve Him daily. • Pray for God’s guidance for Pastors Dave, Pastor Shane, and our Elders and Deacons.

SALVATION:SALVATION:SALVATION:SALVATION: • Pray for a REVIVAL to sweep this country. • Pray for protection, strength and health for MISSIONARIES AROUND THE WORLD. • Pray SBC will have an impact in Sequim by proclaiming the Gospel.

CANCER CANCER CANCER CANCER ---- FRIENDS & FAMILY OF SBC:FRIENDS & FAMILY OF SBC:FRIENDS & FAMILY OF SBC:FRIENDS & FAMILY OF SBC:

1. NANCY WENDEBORN NANCY WENDEBORN NANCY WENDEBORN NANCY WENDEBORN ---- Nancy and I spent most of Sunday night and Monday at the hospital. Over the weekend, there was increase in the tenderness and swelling around the already aggravated lymph nodes on the right side of her neck. Late Sunday night it seemed to be moving to the left side so at 3:30 AM we went to the ER. She has a blood clot in the jugular vein on her left side. It is not life-threatening unless it continues to clot or breaks off and travels somewhere it shouldn't. But they stressed that blood clots in the upper part of the body rarely cause the same problems as ones in the legs. However, they decided to put her back on low doses of blood thinners to prevent further clotting. As the doctors said, we are in uncharted waters now. With her risks of bleeding and clotting, no one know exactly how to allocate her anticoagulants to adequately reduce the risks of each. We would appreciate your prayers about this.

We had the biopsy at 10 AM that same morning and the tissue is on its way to MD Anderson in Houston. We have an appointment on Monday, Feb 2 with her oncologist at MDA.

Although the molecular marker testing will not be complete for two weeks, we hope to start on a trial or a temporary treatment plan that will be effective on her lymph nodes.

We fly to Houston on Sunday. Thank you for your prayers. 2. BOB RUBY BOB RUBY BOB RUBY BOB RUBY is having a harder time managing the side effects of his chemo treatments. He is not rebounding between treatments and is getting weaker treatment after treatment.1/27 3. REINHARDREINHARDREINHARDREINHARD had successful surgery for bladder cancer last month. Protected From Goodness

“When My Glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with My hand until I have

passed by.” Exodus 33:22

I and two friends trudged up Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in the contiguous United States. Our route

circled the foot of the mountain, then hauled us up the backside. The first day we saw stunted pines twisting

between crumbling boulders. The second day the mountain presented a sun-warmed meadow lulled by a creek.

The third day we gaped at naked spires reflected in a cobalt lake of glacier melt. Then came the climb down

the face where the barren shale made us wonder if we were still on the same planet. Did the mountain change

faces? No, but I was too small to take in the expansive diversity of Mt. Whitney all at once.

God is far more diverse than Mt. Whitney. I look at His tender compassion for every bruised reed and

forget the view of Him in which He spoke seventy sextillion stars into existence. I revel at Father’s mercy, but

my attention drifts from His vengeance against sin. This is a diversity to which there are no edges.

The great “I Am” told Moses He would present all His goodness as He walked past, but it was too

much goodness for a human to handle. Imagine too much goodness. Any of us would melt if we confronted

the full excellence of God. Therein lay a paradox only God could solve. He was too good for us to exist in His

presence, yet His goodness dictated He bless rather than destroy us. For Moses, God’s answer was to stand

him on a rock and cover him with His hand.

Today, God gives us Jesus as our cleft in the rock and our cover. The necessary wrath against sin is

spent on the back of Jesus while He hides us. The paradox of God’s character is resolved. He can be

demanding of sinless perfection, and ultimate love to those who choose Him.

Prayer: “Exalted One, from behind Jesus, I worship the scope of who You are.”
