As their church family, we did not have enough time to say our goodbyes. There is a basket in the upper lobby for you to drop your letter, card, note or Christmas card into. We have already seen an oncologist, who agrees with the Sequim doctor, who says my cancer is aggressive, so my days are in God's hands. Please pray for our family as we deal with this news. We especially want to thank you all for the many cards, phone calls and visits while in the medical facilities. know. This can be a husband and wife team or an individual person. Man or woman. If you want to

know more about this ministry, please give Sue a call. This is a rotating schedule and you would only

need to help a couple of times in a four-month period. The coffee pots are all set up for Sunday morn-

ing, they just need someone to make sure coffee cups, cream, napkins etc. are set out. The clean-up is

emptying the pots and rinsing them out and putting the cream, napkins etc. away. Please consider

joining this ministry.

1. PAUL and LOUELLA HANSONPAUL and LOUELLA HANSONPAUL and LOUELLA HANSONPAUL and LOUELLA HANSON have moved to Des Moines, WA last week. They will be living closer to their son and daughter-in-law. Louella’s doctor told her that her cancer is aggressive. She has decided to take enough chemotherapy to slow down the cancer. Pray that they both will have peace over this decision. Pray for strength for both of them.

2. TERRI MARTIN, TERRI MARTIN, TERRI MARTIN, TERRI MARTIN, who has attended SBC, has cancer in her brain, heart, liver, lung etc. The doctors do not know what kind of cancer and are running more tests. Please pray for wisdom for the doctors, peace of mind for Terri and for the family and complete healing. Her health insurance will go for another 4 months. Her medication will cost $5,500, but her cost will be $100.00. A praise for this and a praise that the three little children they were in the process of adopting will be able to stay with them. 11/2

Weather the Rain

“If you falter in times of trouble, how small is your strength!” Proverbs 24:10

On day twenty-six of rain, I hid behind my window and brooded over the wetness outside. Every leaf on

every branch dripped water. I followed the drops to the ground, where they could no longer join the soggy

mat of last year’s compost. Still, the rain fell—millions of exclamation points shouting,

“We’re not done yet.”

The trees didn’t complain. They anticipated the coming summer, held their arms wide, and said,

“We’ll take all you’ve got, thank you.”

Even less daunted was a fat squirrel, merrily scurrying to the tips of the boughs and nibbling seeds. She

didn’t seem to realize it was raining.

The rest of creation puts me to shame when it comes to flexibility in adversity. God must wag his head at

the frailty of my heart. Weather happens, it’s normal. Storms of pain, change, even death are part of the

system I was born into. So why does losing my income, health, or rights shock me? Even too much rain

upsets my delicate equilibrium.

Taken as the totality of events, I could understand crumbling under earthly suffering, however, good days

follow bad ones, and I’m given whatever strength I need to continue through inclement times. If all my days

were filled with pain, they would still only constitute a short season. Spring and summer follow winter in the

physical, and in the spiritual realms. The summer of paradise will swallow earth’s winter.

Nature looked through the window, saw me dry and warm, and said, “Buck-up buttercup. The Lord is with

you so you’re going to make it through.”

Prayer: “Savior, I will rest in Your timing for making things right.”
