The Complete Solution The Aviator SSD from C&G Systems is the next generation of conventional profile cutting solutions that can grow with your company. Aviator SSD builds on the strong heritage of our Aviator platform with many improvements. This new machine incorporates: single-side servo drive motor, planetary gear boxes, a more robust drive system, Clean Deck design, and the latest CNC control systems from Hypertherm and Burny. Aviator SSD is also the industry’s first machine to offer a dual-side drive upgrade package, so as your business and requirements grow, Aviator SSD can be field upgraded to a dual-side drive (DSD) system to handle precision plasma power sources.
Multi-Process Base machine systems have been pre-configured with conventional plasma systems from 40 amps to 200 amps. Thin gage sheet metal to 1 1/2” plate (38mm), Aviator SSD can handle your toughest plasma cutting jobs. For heavy duty cutting capacity, you may add an oxy-fuel cutting station. Plasma marking or pneumatic air scribe may also be added for engraving bend lines or part numbers on the plate.
Plasma Productivity Aviator SSD delivers productivity. The Hypertherm EDGEPRO-Ti or Burny Phantom ST CNC controls provide precision motion control for both high-speed
plasma and oxy-fuel cutting. Arc-off time between parts is extremely short with a rapid traverse speed of 500 IPM (12.7m/min.). The Hypertherm or Inova plasma torch height control systems rapidly set pierce height and maintain precise torch to plate distance while cutting.
Unitized or Free-Standing Designs The Aviator SSD is available with a unitized water or down-draft cutting table (4’x4’, 4’x8’, or 6’x12’), or available in 4’ or 6’ widths up to 20’ long for use with free-standing cutting tables.
Rapid Set-Up Aviator SSD with unitized frame ships mostly assembled, so installation is quick and easy. The frame is leveled, cross beam set, tool carriage mounted, and the cables routed. You will be cutting parts within hours.

The Full Suite
C&G Systems has designed its DXD series of machines around Hypertherm’s Rapid Part and True Hole Technology processes. By seamlessly integrating the Full-Suite of genuine Hypertherm CNC controls, software, torch height controls, and XD plasma systems, superior hole quality and significant improvements in productivity are achieved.
Plasma Productivity Aviator DXD delivers productivity. The Hypertherm EDGE-Pro CNC control provides precision motion control for high-speed cutting. The integrated Hypertherm ArcGlide THC utilizes Rapid Part technology to quickly set pierce heights, intelligently retract the torch to next pierce height with rapid Z-axis motion, pre-flows gases during IHS or during machine motion (up to 1,000 IPM
rapid traverse), and optimizes motions between cuts utilizing ProNest 2012 software. This typically results in an 80% reduction in cut-to-cut cycle time, and a 50% reduction in overall cycle time (the most significant improvements occur on plate with high part/pierce counts). Aviator DXD can be equipped with Hypertherm’s HPR-130XD or HPR-260XD plasma systems for production cutting capacity of up to 1 1/4” in steel and 2” in stainless steel and aluminum. For heavier cutting capacity, an oxy-fuel cutting station may be added.

A time-proven design featuring sturdy, long-lasting components will boost your production to new levels. The Challenger DSD is available in standard cutting widths of 6’, 8’ or 10’ (1.8m, 2.4m, or 3m). Rail extensions may be added to increase the standard 12’ (3.7m) effective cutting length up to 52’ (15.8m).
CNC Controls
Challenger DSD is available with Hypertherm EDGE-Ti, EDGE-Pro, Burny 10 LCD+, or Thermal Dynamics XT CNC Controls. These industrial PC-based controls run in a user-friendly yet powerful Windows XP environment and have 15” TFT touch-screen monitors.
Heavy-Duty Construction
The new Challenger DSD series builds on the time tested Challenger platform. A powerful dual-side drive system replaces the traditional single-side drive, and rides on precision machined and hardened tongue-in-groove 90# T-Rails mounted on 6” x 8” (150mm x 200mm) steel tube pedestals. To ensure a smooth and accurate motion, crowned truck wheels with self-cleaning wipers are used.
Challenger DSD also features new Clean Deck design, which provides maximum protection for cables and hoses, while providing easy access for routine maintenance and service.
Plasma Productivity
A variety of integrated torch height control systems from Hypertherm, Inova, and Thermal Dynamics are available to meet the demands of high-volume production. Pierce heights are accurately set prior to each arc start and torch-to-plate distance is precisely maintained during cutting. These systems utilize fast response servo motors for optimal cut quality. Challenger DSD can be equipped with a wide variety of conventional or precision plasma systems up to 400 Amps from Hypertherm, Kaliburn, or Thermal Dynamics for production cutting capacity of up to 2” in steel, 2.3” in stainless, and 3” in aluminum.
Oxy-Fuel Performance
Challenger DSD can be equipped with up to 4 oxy-fuel stations. Heavy-duty high performance oxy-fuel components are your guarantee of superior productivity. The optional gas system includes twin sets of high and low pre-heat regulators to produce fast pierce rates and balanced torch flames, even with multiple torches. A domed high-flow oxygen regulator provides adjustable pierce rate control and outstanding flow capacity. The standard Victor MT318 torch is designed for cutting plate up to 12” (300mm) thick.

Crossfire is a Dual-Side Drive Plasma / Oxy-fuel, Gantry Style Cutting System designed to exceed the most demanding customers’ expectations.
Speed. At 900 IPM, Crossfire is fast and reliable. Powerful AC servo drives provide the power, and state-of-the-art industrial PC-based controllers provide the sophistication to increase operator productivity. The controllers are powerful and easy to learn. The chassis is swivel-mounted and has a user-friendly touch-screen operation. The 15” TFT display provides clear, bright graphics that can be seen at any angle or from across the shop floor. Time is money and Crossfire saves both.
Precision. The Crossfire cutting system maintains a positional accuracy of better than .010” and a repeatability of .002” in an 8’ x 8’ area as certified by an independent laser calibration and certification company. With such capabilities, Crossfire is always on target.
Durability. Crossfire is engineered to operate 24/7. Easily capable of running for more than 100 hours straight, the rugged Crossfire could run for countless shifts without interruption. The 90# T-rails are FLAME-hardened for a longer-lasting, smooth ride. The cross carriage is of robust I-beam construction with precision ground linear ways for durability and precision. Crossfire is engineered for the long run.
Versatility. Crossfire is available in 6’, 8’, 10’, and 12’ widths and its length can be extended up to 150’. Crossfire can be equipped with as many as 5 cutting stations (one plasma with up to 4 oxy-fuel or 2 plasmas with up to 3 oxy-fuel) and a marking station. The Highly Customizable Precision Shape Cutting System
Speed At 900 IPM, Crossfire is fast and reliable. Powerful AC servo drives provide the power, and state-of-the-art industrial PC-based controllers provide the sophistication to increase operator productivity. Crossfire is available in turnkey configurations to take advantage of Rapid Part and True Hole Technology from Hypertherm, Ultra-Sharp technology from Burny/Kaliburn, or Diameter Pro technology from Thermal Dynamics. These packages integrate CNC controls, software, torch height control systems, and plasma power supplies to optimize cut and hole quality, improve material utilization, and reduce cycle times.

Taurus Models 2000 and 3000 Taurus is a highly configurable, large-format, precision shape cutting system designed to operate in 100% duty cycle, 24/7 environments. Taurus can be configured for conventional or precision plasma cutting, as well as for multi-head oxy-fuel applications. With pedestal mounted, floor mounted, or tucked rails, Taurus provides a variety of configurations available in standard widths from 8’ (2.4m) to 26’ (7.9m), and can be extended to over 150’ (45.7m) in length.
High Capacity Plasma & Oxy-Fuel This large format machine is capable of carrying up to a total of 10 cutting stations. Taurus can carry up to 4 Plasma stations with power to 1,000 amps, and up to 8 Oxy-fuel stations. Standard Victor MT318 oxy-fuel torches are designed to cut plate up to 12” (300mm) thick.
Precision Controls Taurus can be configured with a variety of industrial PC-based CNC controls from Hypertherm, Burny, or Thermal Dynamics. Turnkey configurations are available to take advantage of Rapid Part and True Hole Technology from Hypertherm, Ultra-Sharp technology from Burny/Kaliburn, or Diameter Pro technology from Thermal Dynamics. These packages integrate CNC controls, software, torch height control systems, and plasma power supplies to optimize cut and hole quality, improve material utilization, and reduce cycle times.
Dual-stage planetary gear-heads mounted directly to 750 Watt AC servos, or SERCOS high-torque servo motors, provide exacting motion control and ultra smooth cut surfaces. Digital SERCOS interfaced amplifiers insure accurate control of machine motion from 1-750 IPM (.03 - 19 m/min.).
Heavy Duty Frame & Rail System Rugged all-steel frame and rail system components are designed to perform in severe environments. Large diameter crowned and hardened truck wheels with self-cleaning wipers glide over precision machined, tongue-in-groove sections of hardened 90# T-Rail. Precision AGMA gear rack insures repeatability and accuracy throughout the entire cutting envelope. All components used on Taurus are designed to provide smooth, long-lasting, low-maintenance operation in the harshest environments.
Options C&G Systems offers a full line of options to configure and customize your Taurus. Options include: adjustable slave stations for multiple plasma or oxy-fuel torches, heat shields, plate marking system, heavy-duty zoned down-draft or water cutting tables, exhaust systems, dedicated compressor systems, wireless or fiber-optic communication package, as well as professional CAD/CAM and nesting software packages to optimize system performance and maximize material yield.
