St. Vincent de Paul

Today, we celebrate Christ the King, and this King makes an unusual proclamation: “Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.”

As King, He can make such a proclamation, and as King, He can judge us on how well we follow his proclamation.

By supporting the work of St. Vincent de Paul, you will help the brothers and sisters Jesus is referring to.

Please place your contribution in an envelope marked SVDP and put it in the collection, or mail it (or drop off) to our parish office.

Dear Parish Family,

It is my joy to celebrate this incredible solemnity of our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, for the first time with you in our parish.

This solemn declaration of Jesus as our Lord and King of the universe should lead us to an overwhelming experience of who He is. We’ve noticed that in the last few weekends, Jesus is constantly reminding us about the end times. This should never be taken as an alarming rebuke, but rather a warning from a place of love and desire for our spiritual awakening; that we may realize what will happen to us at the end of our lives.

In today’s gospel, Jesus gives us this powerful imagery of Himself coming in glory to separate the sheep from the goats (Mt 25:31-46). Jesus’ coming in full glory, with his angels and sitting upon his glorious throne should never lead us into fear or intimidation. This is the same glorious Lord that we receive at every Holy Eucharist. His sole purpose is to strengthen, console and heal our broken hearts. His desire is to devinize our poverty with His powerful divine presence.

As long as we live in constant communion, prayer with our Lord and King, there is no need to be afraid of what will happen at the end of time. This prayer and communion with the King leads us to the acknowledgement of our poverty and to the surrender of our sinfulness in the sacrament of reconciliation. This prepares us for our final encounter with Him

When a soul is totally surrendered to Christ our King, Jesus never keeps this soul for Himself. Our Lord always leads us outward to love and serve our neighbors. This is why those called righteous by Jesus in the parable, were so good to feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, clothed the naked, cared for the ill, and visited those in prison. When our hearts are united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, it will always lead us to recognize His presence in others. But only when our hearts are “marinated” in prayer with our Lord and King.

Is our heart constantly united to Jesus’ Sacred Heart? Is our soul “marinated” in prayer with our Lord and King? In silent prayer before Jesus Christ, we’ll recognize Him as our True Lord and King. Are you afraid of what will happen at the end of

time? If so, speak to Jesus about it. He’ll reveal to you where the fear is coming from and what we need to work on. May we all love Jesus so much that we may hear His words at the end of time, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father…” Praise be our Lord and King, Jesus Christ,

Praised be our Lord and King, Jesus Christ,

Fr. José

ARE YOU READY FOR ADVENT?

“Ready or Not…” Advent begins Next Weekend November 28th & 29th—immediately following our celebration of Thanksgiving!

We have some helpful booklets and brochures on the table near the elevator, and you can also find Advent items at Cathedral Book & Gift—located next door to the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Rectory, at 131 South Madison Street, here in Green Bay. If you decide to put up an Advent Wreath in your home, we invite you to take a photo of your family around your Advent Wreath, and email it to Michael Lee for posting on our Website and Facebook Page.

Estimada Familia Parroquial,

Alabado sea Jesucristo nuestro Rey y Señor ,

~ P. José
