It would be easy for Stephen Curry to have his on-the-court issues affect every aspect of his life, every bit of his happiness.

A star competitor for Team USA and the Golden State Warriors, Curry was most recently named the National Basketball Association's Most Valuable Player for the season.

His wife, Ayesha Curry, wonders how he does it—how Stephen comes home every day, the weight of his team on his shoulders, the frustration of ankle injury after ankle injury, surgery after surgery, rehab after rehab, and doesn't bring any of it into the home.

"Nothing really ever gets him down too much," Ayesha says. "I think that a part of that is because he knows how blessed he is, and all of the wonderful things in his life outweigh the things that could be better."

It is in his family that you see the depth of Stephen's person-ality—his desire to be a leader and carry his family in the right direction, his passion for his faith.

"My priority is to be a man and child of God," Stephen says. "Family definitely helps me in that regard because if my faith carries them and they're happy, I know I'm doing the right thing."

National Basketball Association (NBA) star Kyle Korver, who plays for the Atlanta Hawks, is a man whose great compassion provides a contrast to the self-centered at-titudes so prevalent in his profession.

His caring heart was cultivated long ago on the violent, rundown streets of Paramount, California. As a young boy growing up in a family of pastors, he joined his dad, Kevin, on Saturdays doing cleanup projects around the city.

During his first season in the NBA, Korver fully committed himself to Christ and quickly started reaching out to kids in his local community. He and a friend started a Bible study for inner-city kids at a nearby home-less shelter.

Additionally, Korver has developed an after-school program at the shelter, and he helps with home repair projects for strug-gling families in other areas of the United States. He has also provided plenty of des-perately needed items to children in South Africa (medical/dental supplies) and India (5,000 pairs of shoes) through his Basketball Without Borders trips.

"To me, service is just part of what you believe," said Korver. "You shouldn't do it because you feel you have to. You shouldn't do it because you feel pressure. You should do it just because it's who you are and who God created you to be."
