In a statement here a police spokesman said, “The custody of Latief Ahmad Dar of Panzan, Pulwama was changed by the orders of District Magistrate Pulwama from Central Jail Sri- nagar to District Jail Kathua. Chanting pro justice slogans, they said: “Till date no promised rev- enue generating service has been made available to us by the J&K Bank on these centers, forcing us to suffer along with our families.” They said that despite making hundreds of repre- sentations government has failed to make these cen- tres viable leaving Khid- mat Centre (CSC) opera- tors in a lurch. Demanding assignments as promised by the JK Bank they said: “About one thousand highly qualified youth across JK were taken into this project through adver- tisements promising rev- enue generating services. We took the loans from the banks to establish these Centres and we are suffer- ing today.” Prez appoints Justice Mir as Himachal Chief Justice OIC representative’s visit to Pak, PaK significant: Mirwaiz Safeguard sacrifices: Nayeem Khan to people Govt committed to protect forest wealth: Mian Altaf Srinagar, Nov 21: President of India Pranab Mukerji has elevated Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir of J&K High Court and has directed him to assume the charge of Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court. Governor Himachal Pradesh Urmila Singh would administer oath to Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir at Raj Bhavan on Nov 27 this month. Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir was born on April 25, 1955 at Rajpora village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. His father Haji Muhammad Abdullah Mir send him to Primary School located in the same village and later on, he joined Amar Singh College in 1975 and completed his Bach- elors Degree (BA) in 1976. He did his LLB in 1978 and joined Bar in the same year and practiced till 1993. Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir appeared in Higher Judicial services examination in 1992 and he secured Ist Position in the state. He was appointed as Principal Dis- trict and Sessions Judge, Kupwara on May 27, 1993. He was posted as Principal District & Sessions Judge, Anantnag in (1995-1998). And, Presiding Officer, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, Srinagar from 1998-2000. He was placed in the selection grade in 1998. He was then posted as Principal District and Session Judge, Budgam from 2000- 2002. He was placed in super time scale in the year 2002 and posted as Presiding Officer, designated court of TADA/Spe- cial Judge, POTA for Kashmir division in 2002-2004. Justice Mir was posted as Additional District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar in 2004 and Principal District and Session Judge, Srinagar from 2004 till elevated as additional Judge of the High Court of J&K. He was sworn in as additional Judge of the High Court on January 31, 2005 and appointed as permanent Judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir on July 7, 2007. He has the distinction of being the first Judicial Officer to be Posted as Presiding Officer, Designated Court of TADA/ Special Judge, POTA for Kashmir Division in 2002 and remained posted as such for two years till 2004. Pertinently, during the past 18 years only 13 judges from Jammu and Kashmir have been elevated to the post of Chief Justice. (CNS) Srinagar, Nov 21: Term- ing as an important step the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) special rep- resentative for Kashmir’s visit to Pakistan and Paki- stan administered Kashmir (PaK), the Hurriyat Confer- ence (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has wished the world Muslim body to also support the Kashmiris on economic front besides extending political support to their struggle. Mirwaiz has thanked the OIC for raising the issue of ‘oppressed’ Kashmiris in international forums. “The OIC has always provided platform for the Hurriyat leadership to present their point before the world besides giving the it an observer’s status in OIC and inviting it to attend the conferences around the world,” Mirwaiz said in a statement today, stressing upon the Government of India to allow OIC Kashmir cell to visit Jammu and Kashmir to know the real facts about Kashmir dispute and take stock of ground situation. Meanwhile, the Hurriyat leaders of PaK chapter led by convener Yousuf Naseem officially met the OIC special representative along with his delegation and presented a memorandum explaining all the dimensions of Kashmir dispute. “They also apprised the OIC delegation about increasing human rights violations in Kashmir,” a spokesman of the amalgam said in a statement. Ganderbal, Nov 21: The Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology Mian Altaf on Thursday said government is making all efforts for the preservation and protection of forest wealth of the State and setting up of Haran Research Institute is among one such initiatives. Speaking at a function after inaugurat- ing Field Research Station at Haran here, Mian Altaf underscored the need for safe- guarding forest assets,” He said the Research Institute at Haran would enable the Forest department to under- take the research projects thereby enhancing production of quality planting stocks, seed harvesting, testing and grading facilities. Yasin Malik visits Sopore, provides relief to fire victims Sopore, Nov 21: Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Lib- eration Front Muhammad yasin Malik on Thursday visited this north Kashmir town and expressed solidar- ity with the people whose houses were gutted in a fire incident recently, a JKLF spokesman said. He said Malik distribut- ed an amount of Rs 2 Lakh among the victims. “This amount was col- lected from some friends for the cause,” the spokes- man quoted Malik as having said. “We are here to express solidarity with our broth- ers and sisters who have been hit by devastating fire. This is our moral, religious and human responsibility towards our affected breth- ren who are suffering in harsh winter,” Malik said. Malik appealed people to come forward to help the fire victims. Meanwhile, JKLF has expressed its heartfelt condolences at the sad demise of Ghulam Muham- mad Lone of Lone news agency Bandipora. Abduction of detainee Police rebut Geelani’s claim Srinagar, Nov 21: Police on Thursday rebuffed the statement of Hurriyat Con-ference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani that one Latief Ahmad Dar , detenue of Central Jail Srinagar was kidnapped. In a statement here a police spokesman said, “The custody of Latief Ahmad Dar of Panzan, Pulwama was changed by the orders of District Magistrate Pulwama from Central Jail Sri-nagar to District Jail Kathua. He is presently lodged in District Jail Kathua.” He said similarly, one more news item that has been published in a section of press wherein Geelani had alleged that 6 members of a family including a 105 year old man were arrested by Police in Dooru, in south Kashmir is also “factually incorrect.” “ Only Firdous Peer who was involved in militancy relat-ed incidents has been detained by Police under law,” he added.

Khidmat Centre owners stage protestSrinagar, Nov 21: Jammu and Kashmir Khidmat Centre owners staged a protest at Press Enclave here on Thursday against the alleged government apathy towards them. Chanting pro justice slogans, they said: “Till date no promised rev-enue generating service has been made available to us by the J&K Bank on these centers, forcing us to suffer along with our families.” They said that despite making hundreds of repre-sentations government has failed to make these cen-tres viable leaving Khid-mat Centre (CSC) opera-tors in a lurch. Demanding assignments as promised by the JK Bank they said: “About one thousand highly qualified youth across JK were taken into this project through adver-tisements promising rev-enue generating services. We took the loans from the banks to establish these Centres and we are suffer-ing today.”

Srinagar, Nov 21: President of India Pranab Mukerji has elevated Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir of J&K High Court and has directed him to assume the charge of Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court. Governor Himachal Pradesh Urmila Singh would administer oath to Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir at Raj Bhavan on Nov 27 this month. Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir was born on April 25, 1955 at Rajpora village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. His father Haji Muhammad Abdullah Mir send him to Primary School located in the same village and later on, he joined Amar Singh College in 1975 and completed his Bach-elors Degree (BA) in 1976. He did his LLB in 1978 and joined Bar in the same year and practiced till 1993. Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir appeared in Higher Judicial services examination in 1992 and he secured Ist Position in the state. He was appointed as Principal Dis-trict and Sessions Judge, Kupwara on May 27, 1993. He was posted as Principal District & Sessions Judge, Anantnag in (1995-1998). And, Presiding Officer, Motor Accident Claims

Tribunal, Srinagar from 1998-2000. He was placed in the selection grade in 1998. He was then posted as Principal District and Session Judge, Budgam from 2000-2002. He was placed in super time scale in the year 2002 and posted as Presiding Officer, designated court of TADA/Spe-cial Judge, POTA for Kashmir division in 2002-2004. Justice Mir was posted as Additional District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar in 2004 and Principal District and Session Judge, Srinagar from 2004 till elevated as additional Judge of the High Court of J&K. He was sworn in as additional Judge of the High Court on January 31, 2005 and appointed as permanent Judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir on July 7, 2007. He has the distinction of being the first

Judicial Officer to be Posted as Presiding Officer, Designated Court of TADA/ Special Judge, POTA for Kashmir Division in 2002 and remained posted as such for two years till 2004. Srinagar, Nov 21: Term-ing as an important step the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) special rep-resentative for Kashmir’s visit to Pakistan and Paki-stan administered Kashmir (PaK), the Hurriyat Confer-ence (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has wished the world Muslim body to also support the Kashmiris on economic front besides extending political support to their struggle. Mirwaiz has thanked the OIC for raising the issue of ‘oppressed’ Kashmiris in international forums. “The OIC has always provided

platform for the Hurriyat leadership to present their point before the world besides giving the it an observer’s status in OIC and inviting it to attend the conferences around the world,” Mirwaiz said in a statement today, stressing upon the Government of India to allow OIC Kashmir cell to visit Jammu and Kashmir to know the real facts about Kashmir dispute and take stock of ground situation. Meanwhile, the Hurriyat leaders of PaK chapter led by convener Yousuf Naseem officially met the OIC special representative along with his delegation and presented a

memorandum explaining all the dimensions of Kashmir dispute. “They also apprised the OIC delegation about increasing human rights violations in Kashmir,” a spokesman of the amalgam said in a statement.

visited this north Kashmir town and expressed solidar-ity with the people whose houses were gutted in a fire incident recently, a JKLF spokesman said. He said Malik distribut-ed an amount of Rs 2 Lakh among the victims. “This amount was col-lected from some friends for the cause,” the spokes-man quoted Malik as having said. “We are here to express solidarity with our broth-ers and sisters who have been hit by devastating fire. This is our moral, religious

and human responsibility towards our affected breth-ren who are suffering in harsh winter,” Malik said. Malik appealed people to come forward to help the fire victims.
