acclaimed curation of speakers and audience to spark conversations, it‟s an

added felicitous note to witness our beloved Principal Madam Dr.J.Janet lead

the talk show on 'Opportunities are Golden' along with celebrity thinkers to

spread and seed ideas!! The reiterating note of the day - Opportunities are

Golden, Make the best use of it by our Principal Madam blended with her

experiential sharing of career journey has seeded thoughts of inspiration to the

audience and tipped off the day's event.

TEDX SKCET GLIMPSES





SKCET hosted the The Rhetoric Carnival: Regional Level Prelims for the

Sixth edition of Youth Talk „19, The massive Talkathon partnering with ICT

today. It was an oratorical fest, with the 100 shortlisted candidates expressing

their thoughts and ideas with youthful vigour and enthusiasm. SKCET feels

proud of the fact that, of the top 100, 13 contestants were from our college. The

audience and jury witnessed an impressive explosion of ideas made more

powerful by the exemplary diction. Coordinating the event, Dr. N. Susila, HOD,

Department of Information Technology and team took care of the logistics and

smooth conduct of the event.

ICT YOUTH TALK’19 REGIONAL PRELIMS





The massive Talkathon “Youth Talk 2019” started with usual fervor. The participants were very eager to showcase themselves and the registration process upscaled with 100+ participants.

The top 17 contestants selected for Round-2 were awarded with certificates.






Infosys Campus Connect Technical Seminar on "Data Analytics" was

organized on 14.09.2019 between 11 am - 12:30 pm. Mr Sunil S, Technical

Lead, Infosys, Chennai, enlightened the session with his knowledge on „Data

Modelling and Data Migration‟.

Mr. S.P. Sai Praneeth & Mr.M.Vigneshwar of SoM participated in the National level HR Competition conducted by IIM- Indore. They successfully cleared all the preliminary rounds and reached the final round along with two teams from IIMs, one each from Symbiosis (Pune), Welingkar (Mumbai) and NMIMS (Mumbai). Congratulations to the aspiring Finalists of SKCET!

Civil Engineering students Mr. M. Sadhasivam and Ms. C.U.Lavanya have won the First prize in Talent search Quiz competition 2019 conducted by COCENA (Coimbatore Civil Engineers Association ) on 13-09-19. Out of the 40 Engineering college teams which had participated, SKCET CIVIL TEAM bagged the First prize of Rs 15,000 + Award posing an exemplary performance. This is the second consecutive time to have won the first prize in this event. Congratulations!!

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized a

Guest Lecture on “Impact Of EM Radiation Hazards In Design Of

Electronic Products” for II year ECE students. The lecture was delivered by

Dr. S. Joshua Kumaresan, Associate Professor, ECE, RMK Engineering

College, Chennai, who discussed about the hazardous impact of radiation in

the design of electronic products and the measures taken to reduce the effect

in the real time environment.

120 Students from II Year Mechanical Engineering attended the Second

Students Conclave organised by The Institute of Indian Foundrymen

Coimbatore Chapter. Mr.R.Chellappan, Managing Director, Swelect Group of

Companies, Chennai and Mr.Suresh Sambandham, Founder and CEO, Orange

Scape, Chennai delivered the talk on “Be an Engineer and Become an

Entrepreneur”. Dr.R.Jeyakumar, Dr.C.Samson Jerold Samuel,

Prof.R.Arunkumar, Prof.N.Babu, Prof.J.Baskaran from the Mechanical

Department attended the conclave and accompanied the students.

EDC Workshop on Startup Pitch was conducted where the students were given

an insight about startup businesses. Mr.Sri Siva.G.S, Founder of R-TRIX,

e-Scooter Rentals delivered a talk on “Company Registration” to the students.

The students were divided into teams and each team came up with a Business

Canvas Model for their own startup ideas and presented it before the jury

panel.

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering conducted IEEE

sponsored Workshop on “IoT for Embedded System Made easier with

Arduino” for III year ECE students. The session was handled by

Ms. D. Subhashree, Senior Embedded Engineer, Beta Technologies India

Pvt Ltd., Coimbatore. The students were also given Hands-on-training on

Arduino board with real time IOT application environment.

Second year MBA students engaged the first year students in the

Finance club activity - INVEST TO HARVEST under the guidance of

Prof. Dr. N. Manicka Mahesh, SoM SKCET. The Activity helped the

students to understand the concepts of budgeting and investment

planning.

Second year SoM students from HR club conducted a club activity on the

topic „The Power of Belief in Teamwork‟ for the first year students, as

a part of the Induction Programme. They were guided by Prof. Dr. V.

Priyadharshini, SoM, SKCET.

II yr Mechatronics Students visited Mass Mech Engineering, Kannuvai. They

learnt about Punching, bending of sheet metal in Plant I followed by Powder

coating and Laser Cutting in Plant II.

About the Event: The poster presentation consists of a visual display of ideas combined with an interactive question and answer period with a panel of judges.

Learning Outcomes: This activity stimulates the flow of ideas and encourages students to think out of the box. Presenting the posters in front of the class opens up a forum of discussion for the students. It also facilitates team work and creative thinking.

Dr.K.Lakshmi, HoD- EEE convened meeting with Third year tutors. The key points discussed were:

Preparedness of students for Aptitude training.

Monitoring the student attendance.

Impart the importance of FACE training.

Internal Result review meeting for CIA 2 was conducted for the second and

third-year handling faculties. Various pointers like target for CIA and measures

to improve the percent of passing students were discussed in the meeting.

gave some valuable suggestions of how to crack the placements. She also discussed

about the recent trends prevailing in the current companies and to concentrate on the
