Department of Computer Technology organized a Faculty Development Programme on Advance Image Processing Using Python on 29th

October 2019 for

computer stream Faculty members. The Resource Person for the programme is Dr.S.Rajkumar,Associate Professor,CSE,VIT University Vellore..A total of 30

participated in the programme

Department of Management Science organized a “Faculty Development Programme on Crafting the Literature Review” 21st October 2019 for the faculty

members. The resource person for the programme is Prof. R.Ganesan, National Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development, Coimbatore. A total of

30 faculty members participated in the programme.

Event

SKASC in Association with Shanthi Ashram organized an Inter - Generational

Dialogue for Peace with the Youth. Rev. Kosho Niwano, the President Designate of

Rissho Kosei-kai, a Global Buddhist Movement was the Chief Guest. It is a

worldwide Buddhist organization founded in Japan in 1938 by Nikkyo Niwano and

Myoko Naganuma. It combines the wisdom of both the Lotus Sutra and the

foundational teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha. It’s purpose is to bring these

transformative teachings to the modern world and they commemorated 150th Birth

Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. To make this event more colourful SKASC

organised Cultural Events and distributed prizes. The function was presided over

by the Principal.

2 10-10-19 MSW | World Mental Health

Day

The PG Department of Social Work, SKASC observed the World Mental Health

Day. The Suicide Prevention Cell of the Department exhibited Posters depicting

Suicide Helplines available in Tamil Nadu and the Stigma associated with mental

illness. The main theme of World Mental Health Day 2019 is working together to

Prevent Suicide as every 40 seconds someone loses life due to it. Dr. A.

Thirumoorthy, Professor and Head of Psychiatric Social Work, NIMHANS was the

Guest of Honour. The function was presided over by the Principal Dr. P. Baby

Shakila.

Every year, former president Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam's birthday is celebrated as

World Students' Day. A recollection of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam's legacy is

incomplete without a mention of his role as a teacher. Dr. Kalam was dedicated to

teaching and identified himself first as a teacher.

hip hop to his mellifluous and rocking tunes. Sri Krishna Hall was fully packed and

students were thronging to get a glimpse of him. He pre-release his forthcoming

album entitled . The event began auspiciously by the lighting of traditional

lighting of the lamp by the star and Dr. K. Sundararaman, CEO and Dr. P. Baby

Shakila, Principal.

The Library Readers Club of SKASC commemorated Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s

88th Birthday. Dr. K. Sundararaman, CEO and Dr. P. Baby Shakila, Principal

recollected the achievements of Kalam and emphasized the lessons to be learnt

from him by remembering the impact he had on the Indian youth. The students of

the Readers Club eagerly partook in the event.

Day

The Health Club of SKASC celebrated World Food Day. The club members

displayed the healthy food items. Dr. P. Baby Shakila, the Principal, advised

students to avoid junk food and lead healthy life by eating healthy food. Ms.

Gokula Priya of II BCA delivered a speech on Healthy Food to create awareness

among young people. The members of the health club also conducted an wareness

Program at The Government Elementary School, B.K.Pudur.

Swachhta Rally

SKASC following up on it’s Swachhta Action Plans (SAP) organized a Swachhta

Rally on Comprehensive Sanitation Management including ODF at Ikkarai

Boluvampatti village. The rally was inaugurated by Mrs. S. Santhamani, Block

Sanitation Coordinator, Thondamuthur Block, in the presence of Mr. P. Nagaraj,

Secretary, Ikkarai Boluvampatti Panchayat. The SAP Nodal Officer, UBA

coordinator, NSS & NCC officers of SKASC along with the student volunteers

actively took part in the rally.

Pamphlets on No Open Defecation were issued to individual houses. The rally also

focused on Plastic Avoidance and Water Resource Management sensitization.

SKASCians distributed dustbins to the households in the village.

The Principal Dr. P. Baby Shakila convened a meeting with Mr. B.S.C. Naveen

Kumar, Representative of MGNCRE-MHRD along with the Core Committee

Members of the programme and discussed the upcoming events.

Committee Meetings

SKASC conducted 13th Governing Body Meeting today. The primary aim of the

Governing Body is to introspect and review the Mission and Vision of the college.

Having in list the various criteria under which the college has to be examined, the

Governing Body ensures through inspection that SKASC fulfils those criteria.

Besides assuring the quality the Governing Body also offers suggestions on the

different areas that to be developed and worked on for the future betterment. The

following Governing Body Members attended today’s meeting, Smt. S. Malarvizhi,

Chairperson & Managing Trustee, Sri Krishna Institutions, Mr. C. R. Swaminathan,

10 29.10.2019 Commemoration

SKASC was deeply saddened by the news of Sujith Wilson, a two-year-old boy

who fell into a bore well at Nadukattupatti in Manaparai. In a Condolence Meeting

held in the campus, SKASCians prayed to God, that He may grant the family the

strength to bear the loss. SKASCians also offered their most sincere condolences

and extended their deepest sympathies to the family. May the soul of Sujith Wilson'

be at peace with our Almighty.

11 29.10.2019 Faculty Development

Programme

The Computer Science Streams organised a One Day FDP on Advanced Image

Processing using MATLAB and Python. SKASC confers lots of importance to

expand the knowledge and skills of its dedicated faculty through timely FDPs,

which proves to be successful for improving teaching skills in higher education.

FDPs produce promising outcomes in the learning and teaching practices. Dr. S.

Rajkumar, Associate Professor, CSE Dept, Vellore Institute of Technology was the

Resource Person. He provided in depth insights into MATLAB and Python

Programming. Dr. P. Baby Shakila, the Principal presided over the event.

The NSS Units and the Health Club of SKASC organised a Breast Cancer

Awareness Campaign in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It aimed

at increasing awareness for an early detection of breast cancer. Breast cancer is the

second most common cancer for women – 1 in 8 women is diagnosed with breast

cancer during their lifetime. This is mostly found in women who are 50 years of

age or older, young women do get breast cancer. About 11% of all new cases of

breast cancer are found in women younger than 45 years old.

The PG Department of Social Work of SKASC, joining hands with SRIOR, Sri

Ramakrishna Hospital Coimbatore conducted a Breast Cancer Awareness

Programme at the college premises. Prof. A. Jayapadma, Professor of Social Work,

CMS College took part and created awareness among the students.

journey towards overseas study is an enormous step for students, their families and

their sponsors. They had a fruitful discussion regarding collaboration with US

Universities.


NSS

SKASC observes Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) along with entire nation

from 28th October to 2nd November on the theme “Integrity- A Way of Life”.

Today with a view to create mass awareness against corruption, students of SKASC

organised a Human Chain in Raja National Matric Hr. Sec. School, Tirupur. The

students displayed Placards and banners carrying the pictures and slogans, on the

theme and took integrity pledge.


Stressing the importance of Small Savings in Young Minds, the team M2D of the

Department of E Commerce observed the National Thrift Day today. This program

helped in making the students to understand the importance of savings which

would help them in the longer run of their life. Students and Members of the team

propagated the idea of small savings by dropping Coins and Currencies in a

specially crafted Penny Bank.


As a part of the Vigilance Awareness Week, the Department of Maths conducted a

Debate Competition on the topic Bribes are given or demanded?. The students

actively participated and shared their views on combating corruption.

19 30.10.2019 Workshop Attended

Prof. P. Rajan, HOD, BBA CA is attending Two Days National Workshop on

Training of Teachers for Student Induction Programme at Bharathiar University

Organized by South East Regional Office (SERO) of University Grants

Commission. The prime objective of the programme is to train the teachers about

the basic aspects which need to be imparted to students for their overall social,

emotional, psychological and mental well-being. The two day session would cover

topics on importance of mentoring and issues to be dealt in SIP, human behavior,

role of education, and social sensitivities of various issues like gender equality,

harassment, anti ragging & public grievance.

SKASC congratulates Mrs. V. Ambiga, the Physical Director who has been

selected as the Coach for Bharathiar University Women’s Football Team and also

J. Sneha Priya of I B. Sc. who has been selected to play for Bharathiar University in

Women’s Football Team.


As part of Vigilance Awareness Week all the students and staff of SKASC took

Online Pledge and received Certificate of Recognition from CENTRAL

VIGILANCE COMMISSION of the Government of India. Mr. Manoj, Sales Tax

Officer - Circle Wing,State GST office, Palakkad, Kerala distributed the certificates

tothe Principal, the Staff and the Students.


Driven by the Zeal for our Nation, SKASC Commemorated Sardar Vallabhai

Patel’s Birthday. Government of India had declared the day as National Unity Day

owing to his role in uniting the country after the Independence. The Principal,

Heads, Faculty and the Students took Pledge on National Unity promising to work

for the welfare of the country, protecting the sovereignty of the country and thereby

leading our nation to become a Leader of the world in the near future.


The Department of Mathematics observed Bolzano Weierstrass Day. He was a

German Mathematician born on 31 Oct 1815. He is referred as the Father of

Modern Analysis. He defined the continuity of a function, proved many theorems

such as Intermediate value theorem, Bolzano-weierstrass Theorem. Dr. V. Jayanthi,

Assistant Professor of Mathematics, discussed the importance of Bounded

Sequence, Compact Spaces and the terms used by Weierstrass.

24 31.10.2019 Placement Drive

The Placement Cell of SKASC organised a Placement Drive by Just Dial for the

final year students of Commerce Stream, Mathematics, Electronics and BCA. It is a

company that provides local search for different services in India over the phone

and online. The Selection Process of the company includes: Pre Placement Talk,

Personal Interview, and Assignment Submission. The drive was coordinated by

Prof. J. Vasanth Nirmal Bosco, the Placement Coordinator of SKASC. More than

1000 students attended the Placement Drive.
