In Youth Ministry there are some basic fundamentals I try to instill in our students that are non-negotiables, and one of those primary objectives is this: We are called to serve. If you are saved the bible commands and Jesus modeled to us a lifestyle of service. So as I am planning for this next year I have purposely designed ways and areas that our students can serve the body. If a student is a regular attendee to Ignite and Sunday School they are able to

help out in Awana and other children’s programs. Also for this next year we have scheduled two mission trips. The first will be during spring break and the second will be in July to Ft. Gaines, GA. I want to make missions and serving into more than just an event so we want to give many opportunities to stress the importance of this concept, but in my 10 years plus of experience the number one way to get students involved in service is to see a church modeling it for them. I firmly believe that what students see the previous generation doing will directly influence the trajectory of their generation in how the church will exist. Our ceiling will be their floor so we need to lay a good foundation for them. With that being said we have several pressing needs and gaps we need to fill particularly in the Children’s Ministry. Below is a list of positions we need filled before the first of the year. Would you prayerfully considering serving in one of these positions. We have easy to use curriculum and people that will help you. Lower Elementary grade Sunday School (lead teachers and helpers) Children’s Church workers (lead teachers and helpers) Children’s Church Coordinator (Organizes schedule and makes sure we have enough workers) I will help a lot on this one. Child/parent check in and registration Youth workers in several areas-drama team leader, Ignite helpers We are also in desperate need of a Bus driver for Wednesday nights and Sunday nights. You must have CDL with passenger endorsement

Please consider being a servant and touching the lives of our students. Pastor Scott HE Must Increase, but I Must Decrease John 3:30

NEW ADDITIONS: The Lightkeeper’s Daughter by Coleen Coble (F)—Addie Sullivan discovers she is not who she thinks she is—can this long ago mystery be unraveled? Beneath the Night Tree by Nicole Baart (F)—Julia DeSmit, single mom, knew she would have to face the question eventually—tell Daniel about his father. Julie begins a tightrope walk between what was, what is, and what she hopes for. Reaching for the Invisible God by Philip Yancey (231.7)—How do I relate to a invisible God? Yancey offers deep, satisfying insights that affirm the question we’re sometimes afraid to ask. The Best of Larry Ford (DVD)—15 favorite songs from the Gaither Gospel series. Great People of the Bible (DVD)—From Abraham to the Apostle Paul…the stories of sacrifice and devotion of God’s chosen people. THANKSGIVING TRIVIA: 1.The Indians celebrated the first feast of Thanksgiving. The Indians had long held similar harvest feasts. So had earlier English settlers in Virginia and Spanish settlers in the southwest. 2. The drink that the Pilgrims brought with them in the Mayflower was beer. 3. Only about half the people aboard the Mayflower were Pilgrims. They called the others aboard “Strangers”. DID YOU KNOW? ... that the last Sunday of the church year, the Sunday before Advent, is often called “Stir up Sunday”?

Dear Church Family,

My 50th Birthday was one I will never forget! Each of you made the day a special time of fun and laughter and celebration! I am blessed to have so many that I can call friends. The cards and the cake and the expressions of love were overwhelming! Thank you! I will never forget the sight of the church full of folks all dressed in black! Thanks so much for the many cards and all the expressions of encouragement and love for Pastor Appreciation Month. October was a great month for us. Sharon and I are very grateful for you and for the privilege of serving here at FBC. We look forward to many more years together!

Blessings, Donnie Seagle

Dear Church Family,

My wife and I would like to thank you for the kind words of encouragement and for the gift for Pastor Appreciation. It has been a blessing and a privilege to serve here. We pray that the Lord allows us to serve here for many years to come.

Thank you, Scott & Denise Connelly

Dear Church Family at FBC Inverness,

Thank you so much for the shelves you provided for our storage area. I especially want to thank Dallas Cerny, Robert Cusack, and Bob Poore for all the time and effort that went into the construction and installation. You are such a blessing! Sincerely, Kathy Davis

Dear Church Family,

Thanks so much for the recognition you gave Denise and I for “Pastor Appreciation Month”. We both consider the opportunity to serve a GREAT pleasure, and we hope to be able to serve for many more years to come. Thanks so much for the Deacon’s dinner, and the wonderful cards we’ve received. It’s an HONOR to serve next to the rest of our staff, and we are ecstatic to see what God has in store for our church in the very near future!

Sincerely, Brian & Denise York

Dear Church Family, Thank you for thinking of Paige and me during Pastor Appreciation Month. The cards, words of encouragement, and dinner out with the deacons were all very much appreciated.

It is a pleasure and honor to be part of what God is doing here at First Baptist Inverness. Sincerely, Dwight & Paige Hooper
