Squirrels Aren’t As Charming As They Seem Admit it. Squirrels are cute. The bushy tail that curls upward behind it’s little body. The tiny hands that frame their toothy girl. Squirrels Aren’t As Charming As They Seem

Admit it. Squirrels are cute. The bushy tail that curls upward behind it’s little body. The tiny hands that frame their toothy girl. Their rotund belly that just begs to be

squished. They’re so downright adorable that it’s tempting to have them as key

chains.

But any homeowner who had these rodents as unwelcomed guests would claim

otherwise. Instead of reveling at their charm, they’d rather chuck acorns at squirrels, set up traps, and curse them to death. Nothing could ever change their

mind from believing that squirrels are pests from hell.

The only thing squirrels can’t chew on is metal. So, just imagine if these creatures make their way into your home through your attic or open windows. They have

teeth that need to be constantly trimmed. And if they can’t find hard-coated seeds

to chew on, think about the other things they’ll turn their attention to — walls,

insulation, furniture, doors, cables, roofing, shingles, PVC pipes, etc. Anything

that’s softer than metal goes.

Aside from being smelly up close, squirrels cause noise that can drive homeowners

crazy. They squeak and scratch, making it impossible for peace and quiet. But this,

no matter how irritating - is the least of all squirrel problems.

Squirrels, albeit indirectly, can cause fire. Chewed up wires can produce a spark

that’s enough to start house fire. Although fire safety standards dictate to protect electrical wires with metal casings, not all homes have this. Aside from fire,

squirrels can also create holes large enough to let water seep through and cause

mold and mildew.

Damages caused by squirrels are unsightly. If ever you’ll put your house out on the market, you’ll have a hard time selling it. No one wants to buy a house that’s shouts “INFESTATION” at first sight. Adelaide Building Inspections have strict

standards and if your home has squirrels gaping out of holes they’ve used to tunnel into your home, then don’t expect to receive high marks.
