There is no better way to discover the heart and soul of Italy than to pedal your way through the countryside – experiencing the authenticity of its many regions through crisp breezes, remarkable landscapes and the road shared with warm-hearted locals. The Squadra, composed of Master Sommelier, Bobby Stuckey, an award-winning Chef, Lachlan Patterson and an celebrated industry veteran, Tony McClung. They have been crisscrossing the winding roads of Italy for the past twenty years and, every now and then we getting off their bikes to discover something magical…

The first trek for team Squadra is on a climb of 3,000 feet looking down at the valley around Alcamo in western Sicily. For those who think Sicily is a flat island in the middle of the Mediterranean, you would be mistaken. Rolling hills, steep climbs, beautiful valleys spilling into the water dot this diverse island. A dream bike ride and a perfect place to find real wine.

The enologist the Squadra discovered is Vito Lauria, a master of organic farming and making wines that balance complexity and restraint. For the Squadra Rosso 2014 taps the international varietals of Cabernet, Syrah and Merlot. When it comes to climates suited for growing grapes, the island of Sicily is unrivaled. This rosso highlights the region's red varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, creating a wine that is equally delicious as it is captivating.

48 hours of skin contact in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Fermentation lasts 14 days helping to produce a wine with bright concentrated aromas and flavors. This wine rests in a combination of stainless steel vats and sealed cement containers.

Tasting Notes Medium-bodied with ripe red fruits and hints of cinnamon, this tastes old-world and tannic without being a wool sweater in your mouth. Give it some breathing room and it softens into a cozy cardigan.
