SQ 9-B1 and SQ 9-B2 Modernization Packages
1. ApplicationandPrerequisitesofDesign
The modernization package can be applied on the following machines:
• AUTOCORO SRZ with SpinBox SE 9• AUTOCORO SRK with SpinBox SE 9
FibreMaterial ModernizationPackage
CottonCotton / SyntheticsNatural fibres (e.g. wool, flax)
SQ 9-B1
100 % syntheticsSynthetics / cotton SQ 9-B2
2. ProductDescription
The SQ 9-B1/B2 modernization package offers the following advantages:
– improved yarn quality – production increase due to possible take-off
speeds of up to 220 m/min – rotor speeds of up to 135,000 rpm – less maintenance owing to optimum trash
disposal (TrashChannel) and leakage-free axial bearing with ProFiL®Cartridge
– minimized energy consumption owing to im-proved rotor bearing
– open SpinBox easily to be cleaned
2.1 SpinBox
The main feature is an opening roller housing spe-cially developed for the Q modernization, which is available in two types:
• SQ 9-B1 → optimal for processing cotton,• SQ 9-B2 → optimal for processing synthetics
The housings are equipped with the following in-novations:
a) The adjustable BYPASS permits to set the air-flow in the area of the opening roller. This improves considerably the efficiency of trash disposal.
b) The fixed fibre beard support ensures constant conditions for opening the fibre band. Together with the special feed table and feed cylinder, op-timum conditions are created for a uniform sliver feed at each spinning position.
c) A labyrinth seal rotating together with the open-ing roller ensures turbulence-free air-flow in the fibre channel. This has positive effects on fibre delivery at the fibre channel and reduces con-tamination.
d) The opening roller housing specially developed for processing synthetics and the Channel Insert with SPEEDPASS guarantee optimum conditions for fibre delivery and transport from the opening roller to the rotor. In combination with SUESSEN navels high rotor speeds are achievable in pro-cessing synthetics.

e) With the ProFiL®Cartridge integrated in the new thrust bearing support, all advantages of the new rotor bearing can be used. The bearing is maintenance- and leakage-free. Contamination of the spinning position is considerably reduced and maintenance intervals can be extended.
Together with the new bearing support, wear parts like brake blocks, connecting piece and connecting ring are replaced.
The reinforced brake spring and improved brake blocks reduce the braking period of the rotor.
f) The optimized plate spring of special steel permits to reduce the pressure of the contact pulley on the rotor belt by about 25%. This can increase the operating life of the tangential belt. In combination with the complete rotor bearing, a substantial energy saving is possible.
g) The Channel Insert guarantees optimum condi-tions between exit of the fibre channel and inner rotor wall or rotor groove for all rotor diameters. All navels can be fixed by means of magnets.
h) The SpinBox is equipped with a new swing cover. The open design (cover of the opening roller housing is deleted) permits easy cleaning of the SpinBox and reduces the accumulation of fly.

2.2 TrashChannel
The new trash channel has an increased depth en-suring a safe removal of the extracted trash out of the range of air turbulences. The bend of the back wall prevents the formation of any lint-rolls, so that the contamination of the spinning units is reduced.
2.3 YarnGuidance
The application of the carbon-fibre yarn-guide rod enables delivery speeds of up to 220 m/min depending on machine length, winding angle and package type.
The carbon-fibre yarn-guide rod is made of a high-performance material 5 times lighter than steel and with identical stability characteristics. In order to reduce the mass in motion and fully exploit the advantages of the high-performance material, the rod is tube-shaped and without any mass-increasing cover. The radial and axial orientation of the carbon fibres optimizes the flexural as well as the tensile and compression strength of the rod.
These characteristics are of advantage in compo-nents with high dynamic stress.
Each carbon-fibre yarn-guide rod is as long as one section of the rotor spinning machine and connect-ed by couplings with the next rod. The yarn guides are clamped onto the rod.
The yarn-guide rod is guided by special plain bear-ings fastened at every spinning head. These bear-ings can be easily replaced due to their half-open design.

3. TechnologicalAdvantages
The modernization in combination with state-of-the-art SUESSEN spinning components offers the following advantages:
– improved yarn irregularity (CV%) – less imperfections (IPI values) – higher yarn strength (cN/tex) – reduced ends-down rate (per kg [km]) – less clearer cuts (per kg [km]) – less yarn faults (Classimat) – less interruptions in processing synthetics
(e.g. PES, PAC etc.)
4. TechnicalAdvantages
– Production increase of up to 20 % due to the possibility of higher take-off speed and rotor speed.
– Owing to TrashChannel and axial rotor bearing with ProFiL®Cartridge, cleanliness of the spin-ning position is considerably improved. The maintenance interval can at least be doubled. Cleaning is easier due to the open design of the SpinBox. Fly is avoided or can be removed even during spinning.
– Higher machine efficiency due to fewer machine standstills in maintenance periods
• The energy-saving plate spring for the contact pulley in combination with the ProFiL®Cartridge and new TwinDiscs (optional), permit a maxi-mum possible energy saving of 20 W per spin-ning position.
• Short braking periods of the rotor by using a re-inforced brake spring and improved brake blocks increase the safety of the machine and the reli-able function of the automation units.
• The carbon-fibre yarn-guide rod permits take-off speeds of up to 220 m/min (see chart).
