    JettingDescription

    Soil types

Jetting is suitable as installation aid for noncohesive

soil (sand, sand-gravel mixture) with high and even very

high density but also for cohesive soil (silt, clay) with

    stiff consistency.

    Advantages

    Replaces predrilling or soil exchanges

    Cost-effective

    Performance-increasing

    Easy to handle

    Protection of piles

    Reduction of ground vibration

Jetting is used as installation aid for vibrating, impact

    pile driving and pressing.

Depending on the soil conditions, it is possible to usewater, compressed air or a combination of both. These

media reduce surface friction and transport loosened

material. For bringing the medium to the lower end of

the piles, jetting pipes are mounted on the piles.

Normally the pipes are open on the lower end. They can

also be equipped with valves on the lower end, which

close after the end of the jetting process, so that no soil

    can invade the pipe.

The jetting with water is executed in low pressure

method. For this method rotary pumps are used. They

produce a maximum working pressure of 25 bar at aflow of 5 l/sec per pump. For jetting with compressed

air a working pressure of max. 8 bar and an air volume

of up to 2 m/min are used. The installation aids reduce

driving periods, protect piles, prevent overloading of

the driving unit and reduce ground vibration. Observing

certain conditions for the method like adequate driving

units, number and size of the jetting pipes, medium flow

and medium pressure, the piles can be installed even in

very compact and changing soil conditions.
