Product DescriptionThe F1 Glass Bulb Sprinkler combines the durability

of a standard sprinkler with the attractive low profile ofa decorative sprinkler. Whether installed on exposedpiping or in an office ceiling, it is functional andattractive. The Horizontal and Vertical SidewallSprinklers provide an equally attractive appearancewhen ceiling piping cannot be used.

Beautifully versatile is the description for the ReliableModel F1 Recessed Designer glass bulb sprinkler.Recessing The Designer enhances its already lowprofile decorative appearance, and facilitates a rapidand perfect installation.

Model F1 Recessed Designers escutcheon is highlyadjustable. The two piece construction makes fieldinstallation a very easy and rapid task. This also allowsceiling panels to later be removed without shuttingdown the fire protection system, thus facilitatingmaintenance of above ceiling services.

The Designer Automatic Sprinkler utilizes a frangibleglass bulb. The glass bulb consists of an accuratelycontrolled amount of special fluid hermetically sealedinside of a precisely manufactured glass capsule. Thisglass bulb is specially constructed to provide fastthermal response.

At normal temperatures, the glass bulb contains thefluid in both the liquid phase and in the vapor phase.The vapor phase can be seen as a small bubble. Asheat is applied, the liquid expands forcing the bubblesmaller and smaller as the liquid pressure increases.Continued heating forces the liquid to push out againstthe bulb, causing the glass to shatter, opening thewaterway and allowing the deflector to distribute thedischarging water.

The F1 Sprinkler temperature rating is identified bythe color of the glass bulb capsule as well as framecolor where applicable.

Model F1 & F1 Recessed SprinklersApplication

Model F1 and F1 Recessed sprinklers are used infixed fire protection systems: Wet, Dry, Deluge orPreaction. Care must exercised that the orifice size,temperature rating, deflector style and sprinkler typeare in accordance with the latest published standardsof the National Fire Protection Association or theapproving Authority Having Jurisdiction.

InstallationModel F1 sprinklers are standard response sprinklers

intended for installation as specified in NFPA 13. Theymust also be installed with the Model D SprinklerWrench specifically designed by Reliable for use withthese sprinklers.

The Model F1 Recessed Sprinklers are to be installedwith a maximum recess of inch (19mm). The Model

F1 Escutcheon illustrated is the only recessedescutcheon to be used with the Model F1 Pendent andEC Sprinklers. The use of any other recessedescutcheon will void all approvals and negate allwarranties. When installing Model F1 RecessedPendent and EC Pendent Sprinklers, use the ModelGFR1 Sprinkler Wrench. Any other type of wrench maydamage these sprinklers.

Glass bulb sprinklers have orange covers to protectthe bulb during the installation process. REMOVE THISPROTECTION ONLY AFTER THE SYSTEM HAS BEENHYDROSTATICALLY TESTED AND, WHEN APPLICABLE,THE ESCUTCHEONS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED. RASCOwrenches are designed to install sprinklers whencovers are in place.

MaintenanceThe Models F1 and F1 Recessed Sprinklers should

be inspected quarterly and the sprinkler systemmaintained in accordance with NFPA 25. Do not cleansprinklers with soap and water, ammonia or any othercleaning fluid. Remove any sprinkler which has beenpainted (other than factory applied) or damaged in anyway. A stock of spare sprinklers should be maintainedto allow quick replacement of damaged or operatedsprinklers. Prior to installation, sprinklers should bemaintained in the original cartons and packaging untilused to minimize the potential for damage to sprinklersthat would cause improper operation or non-operation.
