BLOCK ASSEMBLY PROJECT USES PRECISE 1/4” SEAMS. TEST YOUR SEAM ALLOWANCE BY CUTTING (2) 2-1/2” X 5” RECTANGLES. STITCH THEM TOGETHER ALONG THE 5” LENGTH. AT THE MIDPOINT, MEASURE ACROSS THE UNIT. IT SHOULD BE EXACTLY 4-1/2’ WIDE. IF NOT, ADJUST YOUR SEAM ALLOWANCE AND REPEAT.

FINISHING Cut batting and backing 3” larger than top on all sides. Layer backing, batting and top together and baste or pin. When quilting is completed, trim excess batting and backing. Bind as usual.

14. For the Taupe Colorway: Sew (1) J 3” x (82-1/2”) strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) J 3” x (75-1/2”) strip to the top and bottom of quilt top. For the Multi Colorway: Sew (1) H 3” x (82-1/2”) strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) H 3” x (75-1/2”) strip to the top and bottom of quilt top.

Taupe Colorway Coin Block1. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) A 4-7/8" square. Place square, right sides together with (1) E 4-7/8” square. Sew 1/4" away from, and on both sides of drawn line. Cut along drawn line. Open and press to yield (2) AE units. Square to 4-1/2”. Repeat to make (8) AE units.

2. Follow the diagram to sew together, (4) AE units, (4) E 4-1/2” squares and (1) A 4-1/2” square to make (1) AE Coin Block. Square to 12-1/2.

3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to make an additional AE Coin Block, (2) AD, (2) AF, (3) AH and (3) AI Coin Blocks.

Lattice Block - For Both Colorways6. Sew together into one column: (1) C 2-1/2” square (1) B 2-1/2” square, (2) A 2-1/2” squares and (1) A 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangle. Make (2) Side Columns.

7. Sew together into one column: (1) C 2-1/2” x 4-1/2” rectangle, (1) B 2-1/2” x 4-1/2” rectangle, (2) A 2-1/2” x 4-1/2” rectangles and (1) A 4-1/2” square to make (1) Middle Column.

8. Sew together the (2) Side Columns, (1) Middle Column, (1) C 2-1/2” x 12-1/2” rectangle and (1) B 2-1/2” x 12-1/2” rectangle to make (1) Lattice Block. Square to 12-1/2”.

9. Repeat Steps 6-8 to make (18) Lattice Blocks total.

Quilt Assembly10. Refer to the Quilt Diagram for the colorway you are making to sew the Coin (or Snowball) Blocks and Lattice Blocks into rows. Sew the rows together to make the quilt top.

11. Sew (1) A 1-1/2” x (72-1/2”) strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) A 1-1/2” x (62-1/2”) strip to the top and bottom of quilt top.

12. Sew (1) G 2” x (74-1/2”) strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) G 2” x (65-1/2”) strip to the top and bottom of quilt top.

13. Sew (1) A 3” x (77-1/2”) strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) A 3” x (70-1/2”) strip to the top and bottom of quilt top.

Multi Colorway Snowball Block4. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) A 4-1/2" square. Place square, right sides together, at a corner of (1) H 12-1/2” square. Sew on drawn line. Trim 1/4" away from sewn line. Open and press to reveal white solid corner triangle. Repeat with (3) A 4 1/2" squares for the remaining corners of the H 12-1/2” square. Repeat to make (2) more H Snowball Blocks. Square to 12-1/2”.

5. Repeat Step 4 to make (3) D Snowball Blocks, (3) F Snowball Blocks and (3) E Snowball Blocks.
