Monday 2nd March, 2020 Hello Everyone and Welcome to Week Six! We are already half way through term one and we have achieved so much as a school and community. What a wonderful Summer Fair event that we held last Thursday. Thank you to our wonderful staff for organising this fresh and exciting new event and to Mrs Manion for her vision and creativity to ensure such a successful event. Thank you also to our school community for supporting our Summer Fair. Our annual combined Grandparents/Harmony Day event is only days away now. We look forward to seeing our grandparents on Wednesday, remember it is an orange mufti day to support Harmony Day. Don’t stress if you have no orange clothing! See you on Wednesday! I have received some disturbing news from our local community members about some of our students who ride their bikes to school. I am told that they are riding dangerously and with excessive speed, even resulting in one of them running into a member of our school community. Please talk to your children about safe bike riding expectations on the way to school and home again. Also a reminder that skateboards are not allowed to be ridden to school. All students riding their bikes must wear a helmet. Have a lovely week everyone. Stay safe.

Remind your kids everyday how special they are and how much you love them! Hug the ones you love and hold on for an extra second or two, it makes a world of difference. Mr Mehmet

Please come and join us for Harmony Day and Grandparent's Day this

Wednesday. Orange clothes optional!

Barista Coffee will be available for purchase from 8.30am until 9.40am.

$4.00 per cup or $3.00 if you bring your own keep cup.

Notes from the Office: Please allow yourself enough time when picking up your child during school time for us to locate them. We are unable to call children to the office prior to your arrival as this is disruptive to the class and means a loss of valuable learning time for your child.

SPS Clean up and Gardening Day

On Friday, 28th February, the school took advantage of the beautiful weather and all hands were on deck busy collecting rubbish and pulling weeds. Mrs McManus and Stage 2 students completed a waste audit at the end of the day and found that after separating our waste into our recycling, compost and reuse, we actually had zero waste which is a great effort. Thanks for your support, Mrs Williamson and Mrs McManus BOOK CLUB Scholastic Book Club Issue 2 have been distributed this week. Please place your orders online via the LOOP by Friday 20th March. Orders and payments cannot be taken through the office.

Time for a new P&C Executive! Hi everyone, Our next P&C meeting will be our annual general meeting (AGM) at 7pm on the 18th of March at the Royal Hotel Springwood (before we then go on to have our usual meeting). The AGM is where we elect new committee members for 2020 – that is, our president, vice presidents (x2), secretary, treasurer and general member.

Are you interested in getting involved? While all the positions involve a degree of commitment and work, they are also very rewarding and help build your skills base. If you would like to be involved in an executive position just send me an email with your interest.

If you would like to be a part of the P&C but not in an executive role that would also be amazing, the form is available at the front office and has also been skoolbagged home today. The fee is $5.00 per membership year. Please have a think about it. If you’re interested it might be worth having a chat to one of our 2019 committee members for more information (you’re welcome to send me an email at [email protected] or [email protected]– which is easier to remember!). Thanks so much, Jasmine Cook P&C President Why join the P&C? I first became involved in the P&C in 2017, lending a helping hand at events and in my time in the P&C I've made some amazing friends and have met the most wonderful people. I took on the President position in 2018 and in that time we have accomplished so much to help the children have programs, such as the Lego club and Robotics club. We have also been able to provide the shelter over the seating outside the canteen, we have provided the fencing for the chicken coup, and also the new chicken coup, we have helped supply computers, air conditioners, whiteboards, projectors and extra furniture for demountables and classrooms. We have also helped teachers with supplies for the classrooms. We have also had Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls, along with helping out at the yearly Billy Cart Derby day and our Trivia Nights. These are just some of the things the P&C have done over the last few years. I have really enjoyed my time as president and being able to help raise funds for the school our children attend.
