STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: As elegant as ever, Rahul was the toast of the Singh Club Akhnoor after powering them to a seven- wicket win and reached the quarterfinals of Sixth Christmas T20 Cricket Championship being held under the banner of Christian Sports Organisation Jammu, Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu, and Christian Fellowship Trust Jammu at Parade Ground, here. Rahul's match-winning 63, made Singh Club's chase of KC Sports Club's total of 118 for ten, a cakewalk. "That's the style of my play," declared Rahul, on his entertaining effort which was studded with fours and sixes, after being named the Man of the Match. Earlier, batting first, KC Sports Club was bundled out for 118 runs in 16.3 overs. Gourav was the top scorer with 31 runs while Nawaz scored 25 and Shubam Gupta made 17. For Singh Club, Happy, Sham and Chetan grabbed two wickets each while Rohit took one. In reply, Singh Club chased the target in 15.4 overs for the loss of three wickets, courtesy Rahul's brilliant 63-run knock. Sumit with 23 and Vishal 21 were the other scor- ers. For KC Sports Club, Himanshu clinched three wickets. In another match, Lakshmi Club defeated WCC Kashmir by three wickets and entered the quarterfinals. Batting first, WCC Kashmir scored 112 runs for the loss of ten wickets in 17.5 overs. Rohan Koul with (30), Rohit (27) and Vikas Raina (19) runs were the main scorers. For Lakshmi Club, Amandeep picked up four wickets to prevent WCC Kashmir from running up a bigger score. Yogesh also showed a good spell of bowling taking three wickets while Kulvinder and Santbaksh scalped one wicket each. Syed Khalid Majid Drabu, Special Secretary PHE and I&FC Department was the Chief Guest and Brig. Harcharan Singh, Director Rajya Sainik Board was the Guest of Honour on the occa- sion. The Chairman of the School, V.K Malhotra accom- panied by the Vice Chairperson Rashmi Malhotra welcomed the Chief Guest and Director Gourav Malhotra welcomed the Guest of Honour. The programme com- menced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chairman V.K Malhotra, Vice Chairperson, Rashmi Malhota, Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Director Gaurav Malhotra, Principal Shashi Kiran Bedi and Vice Principal Niti Dhami and other members of the society followed by recitation of Sanskrit Shalokas. The condolence meeting was attended by Chief Justice Jammu and Kashmir High Court Justice Gita Mittal, Justice Tashi Rabstan, Justice Sanjay Kumar Gupta, Justice Sidhu Sharma, judicial officers, Bar members, and senior advo- cates. Justice Mittal described Lehar as a great human being who was always ready to help the poor, needy and drown trod- den. She said his literary contri- butions in the field of law and other fields will be remembered for times to come. She termed demise of Advocate Lehar as a big loss to the entire society. Chief Justice prayed for peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss. Senior Additional Advocate General S.S. Handloom Development Department organises awareness camp STATE TIMES NEWS DODA: The Handloom Development Department on Tuesday organised one day awareness for local weavers. The camp was also attended by managers of various banks. Assistant Director Handloom Development Department, Haroon Rashid Naik, supervised the camp and asked the weavers to come forward and take maximum benefit of the department's schemes which offer several incentives besides new techniques in the trade of weaving. He highlighted various schemes like "Pradhan Mantri Weavers Mudra Yojna Scheme". He informed that during the current financial year Rs. 3.00 lakh has been distributed as subsidy under Micro credit plan scheme benefitting 52 weavers. ACSS N.D Batt, highlighted the benefits of the schemes of the department and distributed forms among the weavers for their coverage under Aam Admi Bima Yojna and Pradhan Mantri Surakshan Yojna.

JAMMU: The J&K HighCourt, Jammu on Tuesday con-vened a condolence meeting tomourn the demise of AdvocateSham Sunder Anand Lehar.The condolence meeting wasattended by Chief JusticeJammu and Kashmir HighCourt Justice Gita Mittal,Justice Tashi Rabstan, JusticeSanjay Kumar Gupta, JusticeSidhu Sharma, judicial officers,Bar members, and senior advo-cates. Justice Mittal describedLehar as a great human beingwho was always ready to helpthe poor, needy and drown trod-den. She said his literary contri-butions in the field of law andother fields will be rememberedfor times to come. She termeddemise of Advocate Lehar as abig loss to the entire society.

Chief Justice prayed for peaceto the departed soul andstrength to the bereaved familyto bear the irreparable loss.

Handloom Development Departmentorganises awareness camp

STATE TIMES NEWSDODA: The Handloom Development Department on Tuesdayorganised one day awareness for local weavers. The camp wasalso attended by managers of various banks.

Assistant Director Handloom Development Department,Haroon Rashid Naik, supervised the camp and asked theweavers to come forward and take maximum benefit of thedepartment's schemes which offer several incentives besidesnew techniques in the trade of weaving. He highlighted variousschemes like "Pradhan Mantri Weavers Mudra Yojna Scheme".He informed that during the current financial year Rs. 3.00lakh has been distributed as subsidy under Micro credit planscheme benefitting 52 weavers. ACSS N.D Batt, highlightedthe benefits of the schemes of the department and distributedforms among the weavers for their coverage under Aam AdmiBima Yojna and Pradhan Mantri Surakshan Yojna.
