I love the way Camilla and her family create a home - they have great taste. Things are there to be used, but still respected and they LOVE decor. I always ask for their blessing when I do the collections - they get a sneak peak.

I asked Camilla to pick some products from the HOME collection and place them in her home - a great way to see DAY HOME styled and used by a family.I first met Camilla and her husband Lars when we 15 years ago started DAY Birger et Mikkelsen, I was a sales rep. and Camilla and Lars were clients, they have a shop called ‘Pour Quoi’ in Copenhagen (worth a visit for the bohemian garments Camilla is known for) and we simply went into a very special synergy, which has gotten better by the years - now they are not just friends, they are family.

This makes 2 bread:1 l of handwarm water

2 tablespoons salt1 dl olive oil

15 g yeast1/2 kg durum flour or another good

flour1 kg good wheat flour

ANETTE’SBREAD

My dear friend Anette is a master in the kitchen! She not only makes very healthy food, but also always very beautiful food I always eat as a monster when I visit her and her family. She is - opposite me - not just putting her cook books on a shelf in the kitchen, for decoration, but picking out recipes to all of their guests’ great pleasure. This is the bread that she always serves, it has a lovely taste, a nice golden color, and even I could make a nice version of it, as you can see on the pictures. Use good quality flour - it pays off:

Take half of the handwarm water and blend in the yeast and salt. When it is dissolved, mix in the durum flour, and some of the wheat flour. Then add the rest of the water and the flour. Make sure the dough is not too sticky, it has to slip your fingers.

Let is stay in the fridge throughout the night, take it out and let it rest for additional 20-30 min.Put it in the oven for 40 min. At 200 degrees.

This recipe comes from is our amazing chef Shila who takes care of the kitchen at DAY. Everyday she makes healthy sustainable food for us, based on the season - she is not only a great chef, but a very special person, with a heart of gold, we drink a lot of lemonade in Denmark - and the rhubarbs are grown in our gar-dens. Very Scandinavian summer! Put the rhubarbs slices in a pot with the water, and add the vanilla pod. Let it boil up, and then let it boil slowly for a few minutes. Add the sugar, and let it boil slowly for another 5 min - or until the sugar is dissolved.Add lemon juice to your taste, turn of the heat, and let the lemonade cool down.First you pour the lemonade through a sleeve, then through a piece of cotton cloth. Store the lemonade in clean bottles, and keep them in the fridge - they will stay fresh for 2-3 weeks.

RHUBARB lEMONADE

500 g fresh rhubarbs, in small pieces

-1 cm

The juice from 1 lemon

1 L water

250 g cane sugar (or white sugar if you

don’t want the lemonade to be too dark)

1 vanilla pod

Chop the eggs with a knife, or a fork, and add the ingredients with the creme fraiche first, you can use chives instead of cress - put it in as the last ingredient. Put thinly sliced red chilis on top when you make your sandwich. I first had a egg sandwich in a department store in Copenhagen where my mother and I went shopping. They made it in a very British way, as a traditional sand-wich with white square bread, and no lettuce at all. They also used mayonnaise. Through the years I made my own, slightly healthier, version of this simple dish, that I serve as a light lunch on a summerday.

I love this book for its beatifull gardens, villas and the way thepeople dress and look.
