RECYCLING Thank you to everyone who brought in bags for recycling. We managed to raise £213.50 which has helped us achieve our target of £1600 which has been sent to the Mae Toh School. There is also another school in Thailand which is
about to receive the unsold short-sleeved pink shirts, formerly worn by Year 7 girls! Once again thank you and especially to the PA for their support.

On Friday 31st January Year 6 went to the Amex Stadium. We were split into three groups and I was in Mr Izzard’s group. When we arrived, we split again into twos and threes and were given an iPad to take pictures and make some videos.
On a tour we learnt the following: Brighton’s two previous stadiums were the Withdean stadium and the Goldstone Ground The new stadium’s capacity is 30,303 All the lights in the new stadium are motion sensitive and turn off after 30 minutes
We then had lunch and afterwards we put together and edited our videos about Brighton. Most of us used iMovie for this. Then we watched a few of them. They were really good! A couple of players came in to say hello and we got to ask them some questions!

My favourite part was…. … when you gave the prayer beads out. ALICE WEBB … seeing Allah’s 99 names on the scroll. THOMAS PARKER … when you sang the alphabet in Arabic. ANNABEL MOORE ... looking at patterns in the pretty prayer mat. LUCY BLABER ... going the children’s classroom and kneeling at the table where they work. JACK RIBBENS ... going to the classroom and holding the Qur'an and learning the Arabic alphabet. CERYS WAKELING

Fancy A Swift Half?! As you may know, The Myfanwy Townsend Melanoma Research Fund
is one of the schoolʼs chosen charities for this year. As part of this
relationship, I am looking to generate a 'Rose Hill School' Team to
enter The Bacchus Half Marathon on the 14th September 2014 (so
you have plenty of time to prepare!) at the Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking.
This is no ordinary running race, although the challenge is real, the day is focused on having fun with a post-
race BBQ, fancy dress out in full force, wine tasting(!) and stunning views. It is an event which will have you
smiling – not grimacing!
I am looking for a team (minimum 5 people) to be made up of teachers and parents who may want to dip
their toes into running a half marathon or those who want the incentive to get fit whilst giving something to
charity.
The aim is to raise £2,000 to help eradicate melanoma for good! If you are a regular runner or maybe a
ʻwannabeʼ runner and fancy finding out more, email me on [email protected] or call me on
07989 551046 or even just catch me at school for a chat.
I will set up the fundraising page, support the
team with training advice if required, help raise
local awareness, provide a branded kit and pay
even the team entry fee. For more information
