We’re Back!

It has been so nice to have all the children back at school. Any nerves were soon replaced with big smiles as the

children began to reconnect with their friends. This period of remote learning has highlighted how important school

is for the social and emotional wellbeing of our children.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

Thanks to Mr Parkes, interview times have now been setup. Interview bookings for Monday, 20th July and

Tuesday, 21st July can now be made via your Compass portal. Please take the opportunity to book in early. Our

teachers would welcome the opportunity to discuss the progress of your child/children at this time.

For further information, please see the instructions below.

Browser Access:

1. Login to the Compass Parent Portal.

2. You should see a message in ‘My News’ alerting you to book an interview. Click on the link. If this message is

not there, hover over the Community Menu and select 'Conferences'.

3. Read the welcome message and then select ‘Show Me How to Book’. This will run through the procedure of

booking.

4. Select ‘Start Booking Now’ to make a booking for your child/children.

5. Done! You can login at any time to check your booking day and time.

App Access:

1. If you are not prompted to book on your homescreen, press the 3 horozontal lines at the top left of your screen.

2. Select ‘Conferences’.

3. Follow steps 3-5 as outlined above.

School Uniforms

As I mentioned last week, a number of students are already wearing our new uniforms. If you need to purchase any

items, please visit our uniform shop.

The Hub - New Speakers After a hugely generous donation by one of our families, we now have new speakers in The Hub. These speakers

will allow us to play music during lunchtime, as well as hold our assemblies (when we are allowed to have these

again) without having to set up the portable system.

We have trialled the music this week and it has been great to see all of the dancing and general sense of fun and

excitement that it promotes. I have asked our SRC, once membership is finalised tomorrow, to consider how they

would like to use these speakers as part of their school week.

We repect that the family who made the donation doesn’t wish to be acknowledged in the newsletter.

REPEAT NOTICE

Winter Coats

Children are currently permitted to wear ‘non-school’ coats and jackets to and from school. They are not permitted

to be worn during school hours. Given our new uniforms, our School Council will be updating our Uniform Policy

next term. We will share this with all families once it is completed.

Bus Travellers – End of Term Pick Up

The school bus will be collecting our students an hour earlier than normal on the last day of term. This means that

the bus is scheduled to arrive at our school at 2.45pm on Friday 26th June.

Prep Enrolments 2021 Please note that due to COVID-19 restrictions we are not conducting tours of the school at the present time.

I will conduct individual school tours for families when restrictions are lifted. Please contact the school office on

as tours are possible.

Prep enrolments for 2021 close on Friday, 31st July. Parents will be notified of the outcome of their application

within a week of the closing date.

Cyber Topic of the Week: Is Roblox Safe for Kids? A number of students use this app regularly at home. There are some important safety considerations we encourage

Learning Tasks

Learning Tasks have not been possible during remote learning. They will resume in Term 3, capturing the

following focus areas:

Task 1 – Spelling and Vocabulary

Task 2 – Mathematics: Measurement and Geometry

Task 3 – Writing: Persuasive Cold Write

Task 4 – Topic (based on the focus in each Department for Term 3)

Returning Borrowed Netbooks

Now that we are back at school, if you child borrowed a netbook to use at home during remote learning, can you

please ensure it is returned with the charger to the office by Monday of next week. Thank you.

Sensory Room

Our Education Support team has been working on the establishment of a sensory room for students. This room is a

calm and quiet space which can be utilised by students who need the time to ‘reset’ and manage their emotions. It

has resources such as weighted blankets, tactile manupilatives, a body sock and beanbags.

This room is available to any student who needs it. We have guidelines in place which ensure the room is used

appropriately and so that we have consistency in it’s use across the school.

RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS

This week for RRRR, the Preps have been learning techniques for self-calming. Here are the students from Prep Pesina pretending to be floating balloons as they practise the calming strategy, Balloon Breathing.

PE / Sport News Virtual Cross Country

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions we will not be able to run our School/Zone Cross Country events this

year as we normally would.

However, for those who love their running, School Sport Victoria (SSV) are excited to launch the SSV Virtual Cross

Country event.

Students and their families now have a ‘school sport place’ where they can record their cross country experiences.

It could be running, walking or a combination of both. You can compete just for fun and/or fitness. This event is

completely optional and will need to be done during your own time.

Active Travel News Brrrr! The icy temperatures this week have confirmed that winter is well and truly here! Gloves, scarves and jackets make all the difference when you’re walking and riding to school in the mornings.

If getting outside in the frost is too much for you, why not lock in active travel for the journey home?

Our family has drastically reduced our fuel bill by riding or walking for some of our short trips (like the journey to school).
