Spring Event 2016 - Hosted by Kaba AG, Wetzikon
Introduction
Security starts with a physical key. Kaba AG, our host for this spring
event, gives us insights from classical locking systems to modern
mobile applications used to replace hotel room keys.
A similar trend of virtualizing physical devices can be observed in SIM
cards. The traditional SIM card is being replaced by eSIM, which leads
to a number of new challenges. Swisscom will reveal the necessary
changes in processes to handle this new technology.
CSEM is THE high-tech lab in Switzerland. Latest innovations include
an application which will soon be used all over the world: foil-based
energy harvesting inside mobile devices.
Payment card fraud is an issue as old as cards. With card technology
evolving, fraudsters' possibilities are evolving too. SIX Payment
Services will give us an overview of contactless payment fraud risks and
mitigations, including a technical demonstration.
We are looking forward to sharing this interesting programme with you
in Wetzikon.

Dr. Matthias Krieger - CSEM Mobile devices have a social aspect nobody is considering: users gather around battery charging stations. Apart from this social aspect it is annoying for users if the battery is empty right at the moment when you most need services like payment, tickets etc. CSEM has done comprehensive research to integrate energy harvesting into modern mobile devices. This technology has just recently been launched.
Adrian Eberle - SIX Payment Services Contactless card payments improve convenience but also facilitate new attack paths. The presentation includes a demonstration
Christoph Mäder - SwisscomRemovable SIM-Cards contributed significantly to spreading the GSM standard. With the introduction of Mini-, Micro- and Nano-SIM-Cards and the upcoming eSIM (with all their different services and security standards) processes became more and more complicated. These processes must be simplified in order to drive further developments.
