Prayer of Confession

God of the borderlands, you travel between the foreign and the familiar: open our world to those we would exclude and despise; heal and liberate us when we are outcaste that we might learn to praise your name with hearts that are whole; through Jesus Christ, the Rejected One. Amen.

Live the fullness of life each day, and our eyes will be opened to God’s presence.

Love boldly in the everyday, and God’s presence will be discovered in our hearts.

Listen in the world, and we will be assured of forgiveness. Amen.

V: Have pity on us, Lord: R: you alone can save us.

Forgive us, God, when we imagine you are present only in angelic hosts and pillars of fire. May we find you speaking to us at the breakfast table, in the headlines of the day, in the people who helped grow and prepare our food. Holy, holy, holy God, may we fully embrace this extraordinary world and discover you in the ordinariness of life.

Forgive us, God, when we believe your way is only found in a crafted sermon or holy book. May we be ready to discover truth in the voices of our friends, in the noises of creation, in the words of poets and singers, in the silence of the lonely. Holy, holy, holy God, may we fully embrace this extraordinary world and discover you in the ordinariness of life.

Forgive us, God, when we think our religious institutions can house the fullness of who you are. May we be willing to find you in neighbourhoods of all styles and colours, in small flowers and grand oceans, in relationships of mutual love, in the struggle for justice. Holy, holy, holy God, may we fully embrace this extraordinary world and discover you in the ordinariness of life. Amen.

A note from Reverend Joyce Marcon

I am pleased to be with you as Priest in Charge during this transition time for the parish:

Today I will meet with the clergy, liturgists and vestry for a preliminary time, make contact and hear from these people. I will visit services and groups to come familiar with how these happen.

AM 166 Lord, thy word

Lord, thy word abideth, and our footsteps guideth; who its truth believeth light and joy receiveth.

When our foes are near us, they thy word doth cheer us, word of consolation, message of salvation.

When the storms are o’er us, and dark clouds before us, then its light directeth, and our way protecteth.

Who can tell the pleasure who recount the treasure, by thy word imparted to the simple-hearted?

Word of mercy, giving succour to the living; word of life, supplying comfort to the dying.

O that we discerning its most holy learning, Lord, may love and fear thee, evermore be near thee.

AM 171 Your hand, O God, has guided

1 Your hand, O God, has guided your flock, from age to age; your faithfulness is written, on history’s every page; They knew your perfect goodness, whose deeds we now record; and both to this bear witness; one Church, one Faith, one Lord.

2 Your heralds brought the gospel to greatest as to least; they summoned us to hasten and share the great king's feast. And this was all their teaching, in every deed and word, to all alike proclaiming one Church, one Faith, one Lord.

3 Through many a day of darkness, through many a scene of strife, the faithful few fought bravely, to guard the nation's life. Their gospel of redemption, sin pardoned, hope restored, was all in this enfolded: one Church, one Faith, one Lord.

4 Your mercy will not fail us, nor leave your work undone; with your right hand to help us, the victory shall be won. And then, by earth and heaven your name shall be adored; and this shall be their anthem: one Church, one Faith, one Lord.

AM 166 Lord, thy word

Lord, thy word abideth, and our footsteps guideth; who its truth believeth light and joy receiveth.

When our foes are near us, they thy word doth cheer us, word of consolation, message of salvation.

NJ 136 Take our bread

Joe Wise we ask you

1. Yours as we stand at the table you set; yours as we eat the bread our hearts can’t forget, We are the sign of your life with us yet; we are yours, we are yours.

Refrain: Take our bread, we ask you, take our hearts, we love you, take our lives, O Father, we are yours. (repeat) We are yours

2. Your holy people standing washed in your blood; Spirit filled, yet hungry we await your food. We are poor, but we’ve brought ourselves, the best we could; we are yours, we are yours.
