HELLO EVERYONE! I cannot even begin to express how proud I am to have been a part of Circle K this last year. It has truly been inspiring to see all of you go out every weekend to do service, go to socials, and just be amazing Circle K’ers. As last year’s Service Vice President, you do not know how proud I am that UC Berkeley Circle K took First Place Mei Po Wong, showing that we had over 120 hours of service PER MEMBER for this last year. But more than that, it was awesome seeing all of the other awards that our club received ranging from Second Place Total Achievement, Most Funds Raised per Member for UNICEF and Not For Sale, all of our Distinguished officers, not to mention all of the achievements of the chairs. Seriously, is there anything you all can't do?! I am so proud to be a UC Berkeley Circle K’er, and I hope you are too. Every time someone asks me what I do on the weekends, I proudly say that I do community service with some of the most genuine people that I know. Most of the time, they just think its something I do to kill time, but I know that it is so much more than that. Circle K has become such an amazing part of my life because of the opportunities to help the community and the chance to meet some of the most amazing people I think I may ever meet. Every week, I see new and returning members show their passion and drive whether at service projects or even just talking during committees or enjoying socials. Everyday I am inspired by you, seeing you all continuing what you love and being amazing at it! I am truly humbled to be your President for the 2012-2013 term and I cannot wait to see what we can accomplish this year. Now starts the next chapter of Circle K history with new members, service projects, and socials. I hope you are all excited to see what is in store for you for this next term. But I also hope that you keep an open mind. Go try out new

projects, explore different committee meetings, and have some fun at a new social. Be adventurous! With every chance you take, you will gain not only valuable fellowship and leadership opportunities, but priceless memories to cherish throughout your college career. You never know what you may encounter, how something may affect you, or how it could change how you see the world. But know that Circle K could not be what it is today without you. Yes YOU! So, thank you. This is what this banquet is about. It is our way of showing our appreciation for all of the hard work you have put into the club, the community and the world. So CONGRATULATIONS! Congratulations for an amazing year and the start of a new Circle K year.

Editor’s Blurb: HELLOOOOOOOO EVERYONE! I’m proud to say that the first issue of the 2012-2013 year is finished and ready to read! I’ve never been so excited and motivated to work with a group of individuals such as yourselves and I hope this year will be one to remember! Thank you SO much to everyone who contributed to this newsletter because there is no way I could have produced this myself. I honestly owe each of you so for all the support you gave me during the process of making it. I hope that each and every one of you enjoy this newsletter and, even more importantly, enjoyed your year (and years to come) as a member of one of the best organizations ever (CIRCLE K)!!!

the event included cupcake decorating competition, a cookie jar guessing game, and a cookie puzzle. Winners of the cupcake decorating competition and cookie jar guessing game won the entire Circle K cake and a Yogurtland gift card, respectively.

Furthermore, Ace of Cakes was honored to have three amazing performances: Joe Mak, our very own JC Alhambra, and Theatre Rice. Mak sang covers and original songs, crooning to the music of his guitar, while Alhambra, an outstanding Circle K member, sang covers to the rhythm of his ukulele. Theatre Rice gave a hilarious performance, leaving members of the audience laughing until they cried.

The event finally culminated with voting and the announcement of the winners with FeelGood placing first for the second year in a row, Dance Marathon second, and World Literacy Project in third place. Through Ace of Cakes, Circle K raised money, both for our DFIs and the causes of other clubs. From combating aids, to feeding the hungry, to building schools in third-world countries, Ace of Cakes accomplished this all in a single night.

The sweet aroma of sugar and baked goods filled the room as UCB Circle K members gathered together on March 17th in preparation for the annual Ace of Cakes event. UC Berkeley’s Ace of Cakes, similar to the Food Network’s “Ace of Cakes” invited clubs across campus to compete in a cake-baking competition to advertise their clubs. Although the event itself was free, registration fees were collected from participating clubs and attendees paid $5 to place five votes as well as enjoy the dessert buffet, cupcake-decorating competition, and cookie jar

guessing game. All money raised through voting was donated to our three District Fundraising Initiatives (DFIs).

On the day of the event, Circle K’ers gathered two hours prior to the event in order to prepare the room. Cookies, cakes, and other goods baked by wonderful Circle K’ers, were laid upon the table for the dessert buffet, greeting attendees as they walked in. FeelGood, World Literacy Project, Dance Marathon, and Red Cross arrived to join the festivities, bringing cakes featuring their causes and themes. Activities at

Have you ever wanted to relive your childhood with toys again? Have you ever wanted to play with children without appearing like Pedobear?

If your answer is “yes” to any of the previous questions, then Down Syndrome Connection Child Care is the ideal event that fits all of the categories!

Down syndrome is a genetic

condition caused by the presence of an extra chromosome. It causes affected children to require more help and care during their developmental stages.

During the event, the parents of the children go through a series of workshops to learn how to ideally raise their children and facilitate their learning and growth. The thirty plus volunteers at this event

take care of the children, making sure they are having fun and ensuring that they do not run off or do anything dangerous. Groups of volunteers are divided into rooms, and the children are also branched off depending on their age group.

Each room had its own variation of activities, but no matter where they were, everyone had enjoy the entertainment. Some children

preferred to play with the awesome toys provided by the church where the event took place. Some children prefer to blow bubbles and pop them in mid-air. Some children preferred to draw arts and crafts. Others preferred to watch a movie.

The children aren’t the only ones who had fun at this event. The volunteers also had a blast as they watched and played with the children. It’s a great time to relive your childhood, and do things you never had the chance to do before. Enjoy playing with Play-Doh? Then take some colors

and make something out of it! Want to watch famous past movies like Tangled, Toy Story 3, or the cartoon Tarzan? Then sit down and watch it with the children!

This event is not only great for its service, but it is also great for its social aspect! At this event, there is a lot of time for you and your fellow volunteering peers to talk and bond with one another.

At the end of the day, we cleaned up, and waited for the parents to pick up their children one by one. It was clear that

some of the children had even grown attached, as some tried to cling onto the volunteers as they left. Even you might grow attached to the children after spending a long day with them!

Combine service and fun into one grand phenomenon, and you get the Down Syndrome Connection Child Care! The parents greatly appreciate what we have done for them, and we, too, are happy to be able to help them out by taking care of their kids. This was an amazing event with a rewarding end to a great day.

 

On March 7, 2012, I had the opportunity to help with Spread the Word to End the Word Day. The awareness event was led by CKI’s very own Laura Redmond! So, what exactly is the “R-Word”? The R-word stands for retard. We hear and use retard so frequently in our colloquial language. The R-word was once used as a medical term, but people began to use it with a derogatory connotation. It is extrememely hurtful to use this word because it was once used to describe a medical affiliation. Using it encourages exclusivity—opposite of what we strive to be in a welcoming university campus community. Additionally, it assumes intellectual disability is the equivalent of being stupid/dumb. During the R-word awareness event, CKI members Hanna Hyunh, Diana Tran, Daniel

Ganz, Joo Hee Park, Shera Kwak, Stephanie Yu, Angela Apinyavat, Jasmine Thai, Mayra Terrones, Tiffany Chen, Jashley Paguio, Polly Chen, Ayane Itamura, Devante Allen, and Arjun Gupta encouraged everyone from middle school students to adults meandering on Upper Sproul to

pledge NOT to say and use the R-word. Our goals were to help promote respect and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities, and end the use of the R-word as a derogatory term! Working in tandem with the Down Syndrome Connection, we tabled, facilitated bean bag toss and water squirting games, and made classroom announcements about our cause; it was truly touching to hear people speak so passionately about this cause! After the humdrum of classes and our routine extracurricular activities, it was nice to take action and make a difference outside our Berkeley bubble. Single Service: BOSS Mural Project By Devante Allen, member

The Organization:

BOSS (Building Opportunities for Self Sufficiency) is an organization that aims to do is suggested by the name. The organization is divided into small villages located throughout the Bay Area and cares for homeless families by offering classes, support groups, and job opportunities. vc

The Design:

The design is two trees with leaves slowly falling to the ground. The leaves have images representing different cultures, such as food, flags, etc. The overall idea of the mural is to remind the families that “We may have branched off from each other, but we all come from the same roots.”

Day 1:

On March 9th, we went to the Ursula-Sherman Village of BOSS in order to prepare the building to be painted on for the big day. This was the members’ first time seeing the wall that we would be painting on. Our faces were full of determination—we cleaned the wall, painted the background sky blue and started to sketch some of the main images.

Day 2:

The next day, we returned to BOSS for the big day! While artistic volunteers traced out designs in chalk, others started to paint designs, and others worked with the kids and families that came to paint tiles. Some worked in the kitchen cooking lunch for volunteers and families. After a long day of activities, we attached the tiles onto the mural and said our goodbyes to the residents and coordinators at BOSS, after having stepped back and admiring our hard work of course.

Interested in LEADERSHIP? Want to experience what it’s like to chair events? Then you should consider Circle K’s Chair a Project Program! Chairing a project allows you to lead other Circle K members who are just as passionate about service as you! Some projects that have been chaired in the past include Hands on Science, Kappa Gamma Delta Dodgeball Tournament, and Basketball Concession Stands! And no worries, you will be well trained and given proper instructions on how to chair events by a board member, so you won’t ever be lost! I remember my first experience chairing an event called Hands on Science. At first I felt like I wasn’t qualified but Hanna Huynh (the past Projects Coordinator) was very supportive and gave me tips on what to do at the Hands on Science planning meetings as well as the actual event! My experience in chairing Hands on Science was awesome; I really enjoyed being able to facilitate the meeting with Circle K members and the science projects to the children too! Chairing a project was memorable experience and I advise all members to give it a try!  

“Are you ready for a day full of service, leadership, and fellowship? Do you want to gain some leadership skills and meet up with other Circle K'ers from the northern part of the Cal-Nev-Ha District? Well we have the event for you that includes all that and more, Spring Training Conference North! Join us for an educational, fun-filled day at UC Davis on Saturday, May 5th. There will have many workshops about different topics like networking, public speaking, event planning, time management, and more. We also will be having information about this years DFI & DSI and we will have a "Toy Story" themed service project! Get ready to go to infinity and beyond at STC North!” – Ruben, STC North Chair

 

As I woke up groggy and tired from the five hour drive, the van suddenly jerked right as it began to pull into the parking lot at the hotel where the “Tron” themed Circle K DCON would be held; even though I was half asleep, the anticipation was mounting. Soon, memories from my DCON adventures during my time in Key Club began to flood my head. The unceasing cheers, raging spirit battles, loud noise makers, and upbeat tunes which defined the DCON during high school resounded around me. Though it had been over a year since I had my last DCON, it seemed as though it was only yesterday my voice became hoarse as I loudly chanted, “We got spirit, yes we do!” Now, a new adventure awaited as I approached the double, glass doors which would lead me into a convention unlike I had ever seen.

At first I was surprised at the lack

of energy present within the lobby where the check in was located. Luckily, all my apprehension was assuaged after a cheer erupted from behind two large wooden doors, which were the entrance to the main hall where the convention was having its first general session and the first part of its awards ceremony. I quickly checked in and entered through to the main hall, flabbergasted by what I saw: Circle K’ers, some standing on their chairs, cheering for not only their school, but others as well. The very ground shook as many schools stomped and screamed as their school won an award.

As the weekend progressed, I came to realize that. What Circle K DCON lacked in numbers, it made up for in passion. Everyone present at the convention truly loved and cared for service. The workshops were all extremely eye opening and allowed everyone

to meet new people, and bond with those they already knew. The talent show showcased acts that were incredible and well prepared. Even during the dance, divisions donated hundreds to charity speeding ahead of their competition in terms of most money donated. Finally, when the awards ceremony, a whole new level of energy and enthusiasm was revealed.

All in all, the magic present during the Circle K DCON definitely enchanted everyone that was there, especially the ‘first timers’ like me. It’s an experience that words cannot accurately describe and leaves you energized and ready to serve the world. The Circle K District Convention may be over, but the values it taught will surely leave an ex-TRON-ordinary legacy.

During our trip down to District Convention (DCON), In & Out was not only a sweet reminiscence of fast food chains. Especially for those who are unaware of the popular midway destination on the way down to Southern California, past the smelly cows, In & Out is one of the best rest stops on the way to DCON. After settling in at Woodland Hills Marriott, I realized that my voice was already gone

and my head was echoing from all the cheers. I was never bored, not even for a second! I was either meeting someone new, exchanging spirit items listening and asking questions to panels, taking part in elections or screaming at the top of my lungs. At one point Jenny Voong, Melissa Galinato, Mariana Banegas and I spoke to over a dozen people in search of the school that was giving out felt

Domo as spirit items. Also, there were workshops on self- confidence, procrastination and obviously being a community service organization; there was even a service project! My favorite part of DCON was the last night. It was a jam-packed schedule of dancing, laughing, talking, gambling in the poker room, and watching a talent show of amazing skits. Was I able to study physics or get enough sleep? No, of course not! Would I do it over again? Yes! Have I convinced you yet? I hope so because I’ll be seeing you next year at DCON!

After three long years, my Circle K experience has come full circle (K):

• Started my Circle K year with the Spring Banquet issue of the Cal Kronicle… now ending my Circle K term with the Spring Banquet issue of the Cal Kronicle

• Initiated onto board by shoving my face into one of Iris’s disgusting shaved ice creations at Hot Pot City… de… initiating from board by shoving my face into a bucket of you-know-what

• Raised my hand and recited the Circle K pledge alongside other freshmen… and now, we’re all seniors ready to walk the stage

TO THE 2011-2012 BOARD: I really could not have imagined being president of any other board /nosarcasm. You guys are the sassiest, moodiest, and most profane (with the exception of Ken) board I have ever had the pleasure of working with, but you guys are also some of the hardest working people I’ve ever met. Some things have not changed since last May: Kathy’s perpetual hunger, Shera’s RBF (which seems to have only gained strength), Henry’s inflated ego, Joo Hee’s love for Ricky Martin, and me/Devante/Polly/JC operating 10 minutes after Berkeley time (HAHA). Love it, hate it, we had a really epic year. Here’s to SECOND PLACE TOTAL ACHIVEMENT in all of Cal-Nev-Ha!

TO THE 2012-2013 BOARD: You guys are in for an amazing one, two, or – if you can’t let go like me – three years ahead of you. Watching y’all transition into your positions these past few months has made me realize how much I want to stay behind to see all the great things you will do… but I leave Circle K with no regrets! I can’t wait to see photos on Facebook and hear about all of your accomplishments this upcoming year. Remember to always, always keep on serving, and everything else will work itself out in the end.

TO YOU: So much of my reputation has been lost in the past three years, starting from airbrushes of my face to District-wide Google surveys between me & Ruben, but I gladly lose my reputation for you. Thank you for making my college experience as great as it was. I can’t imagine my past four years at U.C. Berkeley without Circle K International.

 

I just wanted to say thank you everyone for being such an inspiration to me this last year. As your Service Vice President, it was always an amazing feeling seeing all of you go out to projects an events whenever you could. I hope you all took something away from each project and realized the meaning of service! You've all become my friends and I am really excited to spending another whole year with you! (Yup, you're not done with me yet!) Be proud to be a part of UCB CKI!  

Thank you UC Berkeley Circle K, for always reminding me why I'm in this club. Honestly, I couldn't have survived my past 2 years on board without your constant passion and support. Thank you Kiwanians for always being there for me and the club [even though most of you tease me and don't call me by my actual name]. Thank you to all my chairs and tables for providing me with a wonderful experience. And last but not least, thank you Eboard for being my support system and giving me a shoulder to cry on. Oh man, this is sappier than I expected even though I'm still going to be here next year. Whatever, just because i have RBF doesn't mean I don't have feelings. Good luck 2012-2013 board! :D

Unfortunately, I don't think I realized the true value and meaning of real friendship until this semester. Though I gave a lot of my own time and effort into the club, I realize now that that the club has given me even more in return. Circle K has given me friends who will never judge me and who will always be there for me with open arms. CK will continue to be a big part of my college life here at Cal for another year to come, but life for sure will not be the same without you graduating seniors. Fo'real. But I like to think that this isn't a "Board Goodbye Section" but a "Board See You Later Section." So with that in mind I would just like to say, see you later seniors and see you later club!

Who Cooks with a Pineapple Under the Sea?...Circle K Families By Ayane Itamura, MD&E Chair

On a warm Friday evening, members of Circle K gathered together to enjoy the delicious dishes prepared by each of the families. With the secret ingredient being pineapple, all the dishes had bits of pineapples incorporated into their recipes! The groups entered one by one in their lovely family colors, carrying their unique and delicious dishes to offer to all who were present. From pineapple filled curry to pineapple fried rice to pizza with pineapple, mouth-watering dishes lined the front of our room in Dwinelle. The members also had the opportunity to mingle with each other and compete in a game of CKI jeopardy with various Circle K Facts regarding its tenants and systems! The cook off ended with a live duet by our very own JC and Ayane, who sang the popular song “Lucky” by Jason Mraz. The cook off was a fun event with tons of food to eat and time to bond with new and old members! What more could you ask for when you have delicious food, fun games, entertainment, and time with your fellow Circle K’ers to start off a weekend?!?!  

Something Wicked This Way Comes: Murder Mystery By Florence Lee, Member

DON’T MISS OUT ON FINAL CHILL NIGHT!

Final Chill night is a great way to…well, chill. After studying all day for finals, who wouldn’t need a little break. The best of final chill night is you get to spend time with some amazing Circle K-ers. Don’t stress yourself out too much and make time to come out to Final Chill Night

There was a blood-curdling scream and a deafening thud on the ground. A crowd of Circle K’ers and Key Clubbers rushed toward the sound, which led them to the scene of the crime: Alexa, the bride-to-be, was sprawled on the floor, unmoving. Seth rushed to her side and, with the utmost sadness on his face, announced her dead. The Murder Mystery Dinner was planned by outgoing Kiwanis Family chair, KEN TAO, and the Kiwanis Family committee, both working tirelessly in collaboration with the Carpenters to piece together a murder mystery to remember. This year’s cast comprised of DANIEL GANZ, GRACE GO, ARJUN GUPTA, FLORENCE LEE, DIANA TRAN,

TIMOTHY TRUONG, and STEPHANIE YU, and each cast member portrayed an attendee at Norville Roger’s funeral. The plot, written by Ken and KENNETH LEE, was filled with intrigue, and the characters were each marked by distinct personalities. From the embittered gravedigger to the flirtatious fiancée, the cast members adopted their personas exceptionally, and few broke character throughout the night. The annual dinner has become a Kiwanis Family tradition since it was brought to life four years ago. Though the premise of the plot changes year after year, the basic structure is essentially the same: small, five-minute scenes are dispersed throughout the night, feeding the Key Clubbers,

Circle K’ers, and Kiwanians clues as to who the murder may be. After each scene is concluded, all the attendees have the opportunity to walk around and question the characters of their choice while dinner and dessert are served by the Kiwanians. This year’s dinner brought over 40 members of the Kiwanis family together, including representatives from OAK TECH and BERKELEY HIGH Key Clubs. At the end of the night, it was revealed that Gertrude, the priest and mother of Alexa, was responsible for the murders out of both greed and vengeance. Congratulations to this year’s 2012 Murder Mystery crew! It was definitely a night to remember.  

What is one thing you would like to change about yourself? I've always wanted to be 5'6" at least! Who is your greatest role model and why? My greatest role model is my Key Club adviser, Potampa! He always put service first in his life; right now, he's in China visiting the girl who he's paying her cancer treatment for. He's always out doing service and he never does anything for himself. He drives a really beat up car, didn't have a cellphone until recently, and only wears t-shirts that he gets from volunteer work. He never complains and has an optimistic attitude, ready to help. His motto was, "It's all about helping others." What is a hobby that you would like to pick up? I want to learn how to play the guitar!

Spotlight: Seniors  

Hi everyone! For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Daniel and I’m an Economics and Legal Studies double-major. And I’m graduating. I’m actually graduating a year early and I think that makes this goodbye even more overwhelming than it otherwise would be. It’s been a great three years and I can’t imagine what it would’ve been like if I hadn’t noticed the Circle K table on Sproul during those first few weeks of school and decided to sign up. I don’t really have a lot to say here, but I’d like to give a huge thank you to everybody who I’ve met in Circle K. Everybody’s been such a warm friend to me and I can’t thank you enough for letting me into your lives. I know that the friendships that I’ve shared in this club have made my college years so enjoyable and they’ve really helped me develop into the person I am today (for those of you who think I’m shy now, you should have seen me as a freshman!). I’ll miss all of you. I don’t know what the future holds, but I know that even if we aren’t together physically, you’ll always be with me. I hope that you’ll keep me near your heart; you’ll always have a special place in mine.

We've been on board together, ranted together, studied together, partied together, and now we're graduating together. We're THE BEST, and I'm so happy to have met each and every one of you.

Dear UC Berkeley Circle K, It has been a pleasure being a part of this club for the last 4 years. The time has really flown by & I can't believe the time has come for me to leave this nest to travel into the real world! I have really grown a lot through my experience in Circle K and it has been incredible being able to do community service with this amazing group of people. Although I was never a club officer, I loved being able to serve you guys as a District Chair for two years (Shoutout to all the current members who have been a part of either of my committees - Shera, Kenneth, Sally, Kay, Lena, and Carly)! I will really miss going to miss seeing everyone at general meetings, spending nights in committee meetings, helping out at workdays, doing service, and hanging out at socials with everyone. <3

Hey Everyone!!!!!! So I know you guys will be reading a lot of these and I’m not that great a writer, so I’m going to keep this pretty short. I just want to say goodbye to this club haha. I have spent like 4 really long years and the years just keep getting shorter and shorter. Basically I’ve spent most of the time in Berkeley here and made most of my friends in here too. I’ve had an amazing time and I just hope I’ll be able to keep in contact with some of you guys. I don’t know where I’m going to be yet so maybe I’ll still stop by every so often. Byeeee Kenneth Lee

Spotlight: Seniors  

Wow.. I really can't believe this is my senior year. I remember my freshman year like it was yesterday: taking naps in the middle of the day, running around the dorms like a maniac, setting up halloween traps where the elevators are, and finally being an excited member in Circle K. Circle K has been such a huge part of my life and I am honestly who I am today because of this organization. I have met the most wonderful people in the world through this organization and I really hope everyone will stay my friend throughout the next couple of years. I really do not want to say goodbye because it will be a bit emotional for me to leave this chapter of my life. I remember going through the Circle K interviews my first year and wanting to pee in my pants because I was so nervous. And now when I go into interviews I am the most confident person in the world and I go in with the mindset that "I'M A BOSS". If I really had to give one advice, this would be it! Take life by the day and really enjoy college. You might always feel like you have to study, but college is so much more than your academics. It is about you growing into the individual you want to be, not someone some else wants you to be. To my fellow Seniors - we have gone through so much these last 4 years. If it wasn't for your patience with me and our late night meltdowns, I wouldn't have been able to make it through one of the biggest roller coaster of my life. Hello everyone! My name is Sooyun Choi, and I am a 4th year art major. It's been quite the experience being a part of an amazing club for almost the entirety of my college career. I have definitely learned a ton -- not just about leadership skills, but really about how good people can be and what a motivated and passionate group of people can accomplish. It wasn't all happy though! To the newer members, and especially to the upcoming board, I want to tell you guys that there will be times when this club lets you down. When the people in this club lets you down. And when you let yourself down. It'll happen, trust me. But keep in mind the good, and keep going, because the people you meet in this club are definitely worth it (not all of them, but some of them). Anyway, bye you awesome people! Actually I'm probably going to be chilling around here for at least a couple of months so let's keep in touch, eh? I need to not go insane from loneliness.

I have no idea how I would have survived my first year here at Cal without the love and support of my big sisters, Flo, Diana, & Karen! Thank you three so much! I love you guys so much and I am really going to miss you guys so incredibly much! *tear*

I'm glad I decided to stick closely to Circle K this year. I love my second family! <3  

I really admire Stephanie for everything that she does, it's inspiring.  

I think Flo deserves so much credit for everything she does behind the scenes and for all of her hard work this past year. WE ARE PROUD OF YOU SAY WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!!

As the year went on, I was surprised by how accepting everyone was. Even if I'd only met someone once before, they never failed to say hello, chat, and joke around. People would always post happy messages on other members' Facebook walls. I also appreciated how smoothly everything ran -- how we received updates every week, how meetings were both fun and informative, and how easy it was to contribute to the club.

Actually, I was really excited when I got to meet Flo at my first event. It was kind of like meeting a celebrity... A sort of crazy but really nice celebrity!

Ever since the start of the year, I've wanted to give a HUGE thank you to Flo. Since we hardly run into each other, I haven't been able to tell her in person. It seems like I've put it off so long that Flo's graduation is already right around the corner.  

I know the map of Disneyland and California Adventure better than the streets in my own hometown!

So here's a little story: I approached Circle K with high expectations. After all, I had heard a lot about it from my friends and they were really happy being members. For the past month, my friend had been telling me about the club dynamics, the best events, and (yes, you guessed it) about Flo.

So I'd like to thank Flo for helping to develop the sense of family at Berkeley Circle K, for inspiring us to lead and serve, and for always welcoming us back with a smile.

Everytime Alan talks about cats, I get sad. Dogs FTW.  I’m Batman.  

I actually thought Calvin was a girl……………………………………………………….

1. District Convention Want to have fun, break records, and receive awards? Get your spirits up for DCON March 2013! It’s still a long time away, but this 3-day gathering of the all the clubs in California-Nevada-Hawaii celebrates the accomplishments of the entire District, elects leaders for the new year, and teaches valuable skills to every attendee.

 2. Fall Training Conference Have you seen snow in California? Yeah, I cannot promise you snow, but I can promise you tons of fun and memories with Ruben Ruiz (2012-2013 FTC chair) and other awesome Circle K-ers! Want to meet people from the district? Want to have heart-to-heart talks with people from UCB CKI? Yes, then this is the event for you!

 3. Children’s Halloween Festival Oh hi, do you like kids? How about Halloween and colorful candy bars? Surely, you like pop-corn and fun games? There, gotcha! If you like any or all of them then UC Berkeley’s Annual Children’s Halloween Festival is perfect for you! Come out and enjoy the biggest event that Circle K plans every year for underprivileged kids of Oakland! I know you want to! Angela Apinyavat (Single Service Chair) knows it too!

 

4. Charity Fashion Show Our annual Charity Fashion Show held in the month of December is the ultimate event for you if you like interacting with people from other clubs on campus! Guess what? You even get to choose a theme – this year’s was Project Runway! Interested in hanging out with cool clubs like SPILL, TASA, Colleges Against Cancer, Not for Sale, and smany more? Want to be creative in designing an awesome outfit, and do service at the same time? Yeah! Corrisa Chang and Charity Fashion Show here we come!

 

5. Garage Sale! UC Berkeley Circle K’s “Garage Sale” is right around the corner! Are you interested in donating items that you no longer use? Are you excited about selling really awesome second-hand items? Or do you simply love hanging around Circle K-ers? Well, if your answer is “Yes” for any of above, our Annual Garage sale is the prefect event for you! Interested in knowing more about Garage Sale 2012-2013. Talk to Kay Kim the Fundraising Chair!
