March 30 2018 SPRING 2018 NEWSLETTER Thank you to all our KCC members, volunteers, staff, and guests for a terrific 2017-2018 curling season. Our club hosted four bonspiels over the course of the season, as well as the Northern Ontario Curling Association (NOCA) U18 regional playdowns. We had several successful fundraising events such as a Christmas bake sale, two Escape Rooms, as well as providing bar services for two hockey tournaments and the annual Chamber of Commerce Awards dinner. Fundraising revenue has been used to offset operating expenses and to help reduce our debt for the exterior roof replacement. Thank you to all who volunteered and participated in all our events over the season! CLUB UPDATES

FUNDING   This season KCC applied for a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, however were unsuccessful in the bid for funding. KCC will be exploring options to move forward in projects related to the kitchen, ceiling, flooring and bathrooms.

KEE ESCAPES  Building of new escape rooms will begin immediately following the end of the curling season. Funds raised from Kee Escapes go to the club. Watch for these exciting rooms to open up over the summer right here at our club so you can be first to book your time slots! Information and room themes to be released in the near future.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!  The Keewatin Curling Club caters to a number of events over the summer in an effort to fundraise for projects in the club. We need volunteers for help out with these events.   If you would be interested please contact  Hayley Smith at [email protected] or  Paul Warkentin at [email protected]

B.O.S.S. Bonspiel

The Battle of the Sexes Bonspiel was cancelled this season as the club was not able to put an organizing committee together in time to host the event. The event was well-received last season and anyone interested in volunteering to organize the 2019 BOSS spiel should contact Paul at [email protected]
