Spring 2017 Courses NEW! Healing After a Time of Discord January 25 – February 21 (3 weeks) Responding to the deep wounds of the 2016 presidential election, this course addresses how deep divisions can be healed and reopen civil discourse. Creed: What We Believe February 1 – March 7 (5 weeks) Using the framework of the Apostles’ Creed, and drawing from the Nicene Creeds as well as Scripture, participants will critically engage what Christians believe and what it means to believe. A Sacramental People February 15 – March 7 (3 weeks) In this course, a companion to “The Eucharist: At the Heart of Catholic Life,” participants reflect on a sacramental view of life through the lens of five sacraments. The Gospel of Matthew February 15 – March 7 (3 weeks) In this overview of Matthew, explore the Evangelist, the community he was addressing, and the distinctive characteristics of this Gospel. Spiritual Practices March 1 – March 21 (3 weeks) Enhance your spirituality this Lent! Join a guided discussion of a wide variety of traditional spiritual practices, including the examen, hospitality, and centering prayer. The Online Book Club: Prayer: Our Deepest Longing March 1 – April 4 (5 weeks) In a guided community, discuss Fr. Ronald Rolheiser’s book that examines obstacles to prayer in the midst of demanding lives. A Church Of and For the Poor March 1 – March 21 (3 weeks) A timely theme for 21st Century Christian discipleship in the era of Pope Francis, this course explores the theological and biblical roots of the Church’s commitment to the poor.
