The 2016 spring Career Fair at Fike Recreation Center was a huge success. The Fair was separated into two industry-specific days. Day one focused on Engineering, Computing and Sciences. Day two focused on Business, Non-Profit and Government. We received a tremendous amount of positive feedback from both students and employers that dividing the Fair into two industry-specific days was very beneficial to both students and employers. Our after-Fair interview days had a bit more excitement to them this spring! Interviews for the Engineering, Computing and Sciences Fair were held in Memorial Stadium’s beautiful suites, offering a gorgeous backdrop for student interviews. 37 employers braved the weather to interview more than 270 students. Unfortunately, the Business, 2016 SPRING CAREER FAIR OVERVIEW BY THE NUMBERS More than 2000 students attended the Career Fair over two days. 191 companies registered to attend day one. 90 companies registered to attend day two. 357 after-Fair interviews were held. EMPLOYER FEEDBACK “Thank you for separating the Fair this year. It was so much easier to distinguish the business majors from other majors. We actually had a line the whole time. This worked out great for us.” – SYNNEX Corporation “We loved having a separate day geared towards STEM. This was a much better IT turnout than the fall-blended Fair. Students don’t think IT when they see Vanguard, so having it separate is helpful.” – The Vanguard Group STUDENT FEEDBACK “Separating days for Engineering/Computing and Business was a great move for students and companies. Career Fair Survey Comments and Facts A few employers are still not getting Career Fair information sent to them after registration. Remember, all information goes to the email address provided on the registration form. Many of our students expressed frustration that companies packed up early. Please try to stay for the entire Career Fair. Students plan to attend the Fair after class and are disappointed to find the company they wanted to speak with is gone! We get many comments about the student nametags — this is a system-generated nametag. Font size and other specifics cannot be altered. Save the Date: The 2016 fall Career Fair will be September 20 21 Many of you did tell us you like the color-coded stickers. Close to 75 percent of students surveyed rated the Career Fair as good or better. 96 percent of employers surveyed stated this Career Fair met or exceeded their expectations.
