Throughout our !or? this semester our team has %een a%le to try differentformats and strategies for !ays to ma?e our content strong and effective. omerecommendations !e have ac?no!ledged and already implemented in recent

!or?, and others !e loo? to start ne3t !ee?. ne of these recommendations !ehad involved our post+event release and ma?ing it more uniue and creative.

#ith this in mind !e !or?ed to create our, C6nside Trac?,D !hich gives readersmore insight to ans!ers candidates had in regards to uestions !e as?ed. Thisalso involves not only layout, %ut as?ing uestions not necessarily related topolitics. Aespite the o%vious course concentration on the ully Bulpit 3perience

and all things politics, pulling from other topic fields (pop culture, food, fashion)lightens up the su%*ect matter that !e are ultimately communicating to thestudent %ody. #e have to remem%er that !e are also a communication focus as

!ell, and to not stray a!ay from that. ther!ise !e are merely a shade of gray incomparison to the Bolitical cience Aepartment, or any other media outletchurning out the same information. Ara!ing on from this, !e recommend toma?e our releases more creative and uniue from other articles media outletshave created.

nother recommendation !e loo? to improve on is to continue %uildingrelationships and connections !ith other media outlets. The 'ollege of

'harlestonEs communications office, !e noticed, does not use all local televisionstations or print media, so !e chose to reach out to them for coverage. 6n thefuture, other media outlets !e can try to e3plore include, popular %logs, radiostations, and successful social media accounts. 6n addition to contacting theseoutlets, !e used their events calendar as a !ay to post a%out our upcomingevents and share information !ith the pu%lic. This allo!ed for people !ho arenot in the 'ollege of 'harleston community to still %e included and participatein our events.

ur last recommendation !ould %e in regards to video content. #e !ouldrecommend incorporating photovideo snippets to round out our, C6nside

Trac?.D model !e can use for this is vie!ing the Bost and 'ourierEs onlinearticles or a net!or? stationEs ne!s story. oth sites offer %oth !ritten contentand a visual to !atch, !hether that is a video andor slidesho! of photos.6deally, this content !ould give vie!ers that multi+media dimension and theycould !atch a candidateEs response to uestions, instead of *ust reading thedialogue. This adds more content, as !ell as diversifies the !or?load the -edia7elations Team can contri%ute to our post+event release.

For the future success of the series, !e have a fe! recommendations from oure3periences over the past year. s !e have learned a lot this semester, !e hope tosee the continued gro!th and e3pansion of the ully Bulpit eries in the yearsahead.

6n the future, !e hope that there are more chances for media e3posure for theseries, %oth on small and large scales. Locally, !e imagine that in the future, features on the ully Bulpit capstone class and staff in outlets such as the Bost &'ourier or 'ity Baper could help to increase recognition of the series and to ma?eclear to the community that the series is an important asset to not *ust the 'ollegeof 'harleston community, %ut the 'harleston community as a !hole. #e also hope

that some more am%itious media mentions could happen in the future, such as aufeed article or a mention on the anni%al uress or teven 'ol%ert ho!.

Throughout the year, !e tal?ed a%out utiliing different and ne! avenues ofmedia, including %logs and other media sources. Botential media outlets andchannels for increased coverage and recognition included ufeed and CThe ?imD,among others. o!ever, these specific ideas never came to fruition. 6t may %ehelpful in the future to ma?e this ?ind of tas? %e a mini+assignment for the !holeclass at the %eginning of the year. 6t !ould %e helpful to ?no! of any %logs that areparticularly popular (especially those in the 'harleston area) in order to try to %uildrelationships !ith these %loggers. y e3ploring different avenues of media, !e may

%e a%le to %etter e3pand the reach of the eries. #e also thin? that in the future, it !ould %e helpful to host events even in theoff+season. ven !hen it is not a presidential season, students are still interested indialogue !ith prominent political figures. aving events !ith state politicians suchas Movernor 9i??i aley or enator Tim cott !ould %e a great chance for studentsto have their voices heard %y state officials.

    Spring 2016

-oving into the pring semester, !e already had a good idea of the !or? ahead of us and !hat our team needed to accomplish. lthough this semester !as not as heavy as lastsemester in terms of events, !e still continued to learn important lessons that !e can carry  !ith us after graduation.

    1. Time management is ?ey to reduce stress and have high uality pro*ects. Thissemester, !e had a lot of last minute events, so ma?ing sure that !e !ere managing

our time !isely !as crucial. s a team during the semester, !e !or?ed !ell to %alance other o%ligations and ma?e ourselves availa%le to the team as much aspossi%le.

    2. Team!or? ma?es a dream !or?. This semester, !e really came together as a team. The team !as a%le to communicate a lot more effectively, !hich resulted in a higheruality of !or?. Follo!ing last semester, !e have also learned a lot a%out ourstrengths and !ea?nesses a team, as !ell as individuals. eing more a!are of thesestrengths and !ea?nesses, !e !ere a%le to delegate tas?s more efficiently and !erea%le to %etter !or? in harmony.

". Brofessionalism is al!ays a priority. 6n our position, the -edia 7elations team !or?ed !ith mem%ers of the media and various individuals in the community. srepresentatives of not only the ully Bulpit eries, %ut of the 'ollege of 'harlestonas !ell, it is important to remain professional, even in the face of frustrating andtrying situations.

:. Transferra%le s?ills can %e *ust as important as practical s?ills. 6n this position, !ehave not only learned o%vious, professional s?ills, %ut transferra%le s?ills as !ell.ne of the most important s?ills that !e have learned this semester is adapta%ility. #e had many instances !here there !as short notice for an event, so !e had to %ea%le to ad*ust our focus and *ump into action.

    5. AonEt %e afraid to as? for help. This semester, !e !or?ed e3tremely hard on ma?ingconnections and trying to find individuals that !e !anted to include in our video. #e had a pretty am%itious list at the %eginning of the semester, !ith individualssuch as Aarius 7uc?er, ill -urray, and teven 'ol%ert. To!ards the end of thesemester, !e %egan to as? the class for help for any connections they may have !ithany individuals !ho could %e in our video. nfortunately, not many of them !or?edout, %ut the class !as a valua%le resource in terms of help and suggestions.
