Bali Batiks & HandpaintsHoffman Bali Batiks are handmade by artisans in Bali,

Indonesia, using original designs created by textile artists employed at Hoffman Fabrics’ headquarters in Mission Viejo, CA. Thanks to their joint efforts, these teams are able to create stunning textile designs for quilting. The

batik process involves several processes, including dyeing and overdyeing the fabrics, adding wax resists using tjaps

(pronounced “chops”), and finally rinsing away the wax and exhausted dyes so that the batik designs emerge.

The Hoffman Family takes pride in the fact that a modern, multi-cistern water-filtration system operating at its Bali

factory returns rinse water clear to the local environment. The beauty of batik is that it is a handart; no two yards are

quite the same, making these fabrics truly special.
