    Partnering with Dantec Dynamics

Dantec Dynamics is your ideal partner for spray measure-ment solutions. As our customer, you will benefit from:

The most complete range of particle diagnostic instru-

ments, from robust turn-key systems to advanced,

customized systems, to meet your current and futuremeasurement requirements.

Our commitment to continuous product innovationincorporating the latest technology and backed by ISO

    9000 certified quality assurance programmes.

The support of our highly trained staff in a company withmore than 50 years of experience in providing state-of-the-

art measurement solutions. A partnership with the world's leading supplier of spray

measurement solutions, with several thousand installed

systems around the globe at research labs, universities, and

numerous industrial sites. Local support from our five subsidiary companies and a

    competent network of global distributors.

Sprays or atomized liquids are used everywhere, both in our

daily lives and in industry. They facilitate precise fuel injection for

    our car engines and more efficient use of fertilizers for our crops;

they allow us to produce food and powder using drying processes,

as well as inhalers for many kinds of medicines. In all of theseapplications, validating and improving atomization methods

requires precise and complete characterization of the spray

dynamics: droplet size, velocity, concentration, mass distribution,

    mass flux, and spray shape.

Time-resolved fuel injection measurements by PDA

The measurement of very dense sprays from sources such ashigh-pressure fuel injectors has until recently been limited.

Our HiDense PDA solution - which includes a dedicated

receiver, high-power transmitter, small measurement volume, unmatched BSA signal processor and extensive software

    - now allows access to this important data.

The graphs below show individual and averaged fuel dropletsize and velocity as a function of time after injection.

    Measurement results and documentation

Dantec Dynamics' PDA software includes temporal and

spatial distribution, statistical calculations such as meandiameter (D10), volume mean diameter, Sauter mean

diameter (D32), flux and concentration, as well as extensivemeasurement validation criteria, so that measurement results

can be documented. This information is available in

numerous formats, including tabular, histograms, profilesand spatial distributions.

Whole-field size and velocity measurements withDynamicStudio IPI and Shadow Sizer

The Interferometric Particle Imaging (IPI) and shadow sizing

techniques use cameras and a laser light sheet (IPI) or a back-

light illumination (Shadow Sizer).Images are collected and analyzed by Dantec's Dynamic-

Studio software imaging platform to extract size and velocitydata of each particle in the imaged area, thus enabling you

to perform extensive spatial, temporal and statistical analysisof the sprays.

Spray geometry parametersThe spray is illuminated by a pulsed light source to freeze

the motion and the images are stored on a PC. TheDynamicStudio software platform handles the hardware syn-

chronisation, data storage and image analysis.

The example shown is a snapshot in false colour of a multi-

hole fuel injector spray before combustion. For each spray, the penetration length, spray axis, cone and spread angles

    are measured.

Shadow image, left: the droplet and liquid ligament are identifiedthanks to advanced image analysis algorithms allowing discardingout of focused droplets. The droplet shape and orientation informa-tion is then extracted. Courtesy of SLA TU Darmstadt. IPI image, right: the droplet size is measured from the interferometric fringepatterns.
