Words of Wisdom from Graduating Seniors
Wrestling is the greatest challenge any person can put upon themselves. A lot of you will get bumps, bruises, and lose tough matches. But stick it out. One of the best pieces of advice I had attained when I was younger was that if you could learn one think from a match, then it was not a loss. Stay mentally and physically tough, all your hard work will pay off. Never doubt yourself, you'll never be a champion if you don't try.
Good luck next season,
-Jake Szaniawski
A message that I would like to leave for future wrestlers is that the freshman season is the year that seems the longest and hardest but be sure to stick with it because every year gets better.
-Zac Nordstrom
Dear New Berlin wrestlers,
You have decided to take part in wrestling and therefore you have decided to take part in the hardest sport that high school has to offer. It was easily the hardest thing that I have ever done, and yet I have never been sadder than the day my high school wrestling career ended. My advice is to make every match, practice, and workout worth it. Don’t hold back and give everyday everything you got, because it goes by faster than you expect and when it is over you will miss it.
~Emilio Gutierrez
I’d like to start off by thanking the coaches and everything they’ve done for us. The guys that are up in the practice room put in too much time and effort not to be thanked. They are some of the most inspirational men I know, and that’s something you have to cherish. They teach you how to react when things are tough. They taught us all that we can achieve anything that challenges us in life, or in a wrestling match. One thing I’m going to never forget in my entire life, is all the people that supported me when I needed it. Whether they were a coach, a practice partner, or a fan. That’s the biggest thing that I took from wrestling. That no matter how hard things are, or how rough they seem; you have to keep your head up and put your mind to it. Everyone is still supporting you.
-John McArthur
The biggest words of wisdom I have to give to anyone planning to wrestle would to not put things off. Whatever your plans are, whether they be to go to state, sectional, conference, or even JV conference, you have to put in the work now. You cannot keep saying to yourself, “Well there is next year”, because eventually there isn’t going to be a next year, and you are going to be living with a whole lot of regret.
-D.J. Heinrich
