Safety reports and repairs

After servicing, we provide you with a full report that passes your equipment safe for use or recommends any necessary repairs or spare parts.

We will repair your equipment onsite if possible, but bear in mind that our engineers can only carry a limited number of spare parts with them. However, we can repair and source spare parts for almost any brand of fitness equipment and we will include a quote for this work in your report.

Inspection certificate

After your annual safety inspection our engineer will provide a Certificate of Inspection for you to display. Displaying the certificate demonstrates good practice to Ofsted and insurance companies.

Reupholstery - PVC

We offer a reupholstery service for all your fitness equipment pads. Please send us a swatch of PVC to enable us to match the colour and a list of the pads required and we can give you a firm quotation. We can undertake this work onsite ensuring your equipment is out of use for the shortest possible time, or if you prefer you can send us the pads to be recovered and we can return them the next day.

Removals and storage

If you need to relocate equipment, ask us about our removal service and storage facility. As a registered waste transfer facility, we can also remove and recycle your old, unwanted equipment.

PIPA and soft play inspection

Conformance certificate

Should the inflatable conform to the standard we will provide a certificate. If there are repairs / modifications required then we will provide a list of recommendations and quotation.

Pool inflatables

Pool inflatables do not require a PIPA tag but should be inspected every year. Sportsafe also provide this service onsite at a cost of £135.00 per inflatable.

NB: There are no additional mileage charges. All prices quoted are subject to VAT and an order is generally required for us to proceed.

Performance Inflatable Play Accreditation (PIPA)All inflatable play equipment that falls within the scope of the PIPA scheme should carry a PIPA tag and be listed on the database.

New inflatables

We are also able to provide new inflatables for both ‘dry’ and ‘wet’ applications.

A range of sizes are available and products can be individually themed or branded with sponsorship logos.

All inflatables come with a warranty and are PIPA tagged as appropriate.

Sportsafe can provide new as well as inspect and repair your current/existing inflatables. To minimise disruption to your site activities all our inspections are carried out onsite. We also offer tagging and testing for bouncy castles and other inflatable play.

Sportsafe are able to provide this service onsite at the cost of £205.00 per inflatable (dry) for an onsite inspection.

RPII safety inspections

RPII believes that play areas should be as safe as necessary – not as safe as possible. We currently undertake 15000+ inspections in the UK each year.

All of our playground inspections are carried out by fully qualified members of Register of Play Inspectors International (RPII) and who are DBS checked. We carry public liability and professional indemnity insurance of £10,000,000. We also operate under a quality management system to ISO 9001 that is certified by BSI – certificate number FS 522192.

Annual inspections and risk assessments are the recommendation of both the HSE and the British and European Standards (BS EN 1176). They are used to check the condition of the equipment and detail any compliance defects. Faults and failures

are risk-scored to enable you to prioritise works required. The annual inspection can also be used to check maintenance works carried out and determine any recurring problems that may arise.

Our annual inspection and risk assessment includes all fixed play equipment and associated surfacing as well as the site and ancillary items (seats, bins etc.).

Photographs of all items of equipment and photos of all matters that require work are included in the report.

Paper reports can be provided if necessary but, as part of our commitment to the environment, we prefer to provide electronic reports whenever practical.

Until recently many people still considered synthetic pitches to be maintenance-free, but sadly this is not the case. Artificial pitches have been studied for over 20 years, and in this time many synthetic surfaces have aged prematurely due to incorrect or no maintenance, and have had to be replaced within their first 5 years. In normal circumstances you should expect to enjoy at least 10 years of useful life from your surface. Indeed, some correctly-maintained pitches are well over this age, with one nearing its 25th anniversary!

All climbing walls must be inspected and maintained annually in accordance with the BS EN12572 Standard. We can offer a comprehensive specialist service that ensures your facility is safe and fit for purpose.

From a clean and reseal to a full sanding, lining and resealing, using the highest quality materials which all comply to British and European standards for the safe undertaking of activities, Sportsafe offers sports hall floor maintenance and refurbishment for all sports halls, activity flooring, school activity flooring, tennis court refurbishment and squash court maintenance. We are also able to work on additional floors like squash courts, studios, corridors, assembly and dining halls, classrooms, theatres and stages.

Deep clean, abrade and reseal

Using only approved cleaners and degreasers we will thoroughly clean, abrade and neutralise the surface in readiness for the application of a low-odour quick-drying specialist floor seal.

New flooringWe are pleased to introduce our range of indoor sports floors. We provide premium quality installations supplied from leading manufacturers. We are unique in that we can combine the specification, supply and installation of the sports floor system together with all ancillary items on a fully coordinated basis. Our system can be finished in a choice of wood or synthetic surfaces.

Pendulum slip resistance testAs a professional company we are ideally placed to offer a recognised and accredited service to establish the traction levels of all of your activity flooring.

The Pendulum slip resistance test gives a definitive answer whether your floor is fit for purpose under foot when wet or dry. The Pendulum slip resistance test (to BS7976) is the only procedure to be

recognised by both the Health & Safety Executive and the law itself. If you have certified evidence that your floor meets the HSE guidelines you cannot be held liable for a slip injury.

The Pendulum test is carried out on the surface in dry and wet conditions using UKAS accredited calibrated pendulum and will identify the following:

• If the flooring is fit for purpose within the environment it is being used for• Where more slips may be likely to occur.

Following the test a report will be issued including all the slip test results and images of the locations tested. Where unsafe or unfit surfaces are found solutions and advice can be offered on how to overcome these problems quickly and efficiently. Cleaning techniques to help maintain slip resistance will be demonstrated if necessary.

The Pendulum test should be carried out annually as part of an all-round risk assessment policy.

It is customary to have these lines painted with proprietary high traffic line paints but in some circumstances we are able to tape games lines using suitable heavy duty tapes for the same price. Individual sports markings can vary.

All seal systems are compliant with both British and European standards. Coloured floor coating system

We are able to, and have over the years, successfully transformed tired, old floors by the application of a recognised seamless PU Coating at a fraction of the cost of a new floor system – less disruption, less time, less money! These surfaces come in a variety of colours, they are tough, offer the correct traction levels and immediately lift these tired areas cosmetically.

New regulation basketball markings

In October 2010 FIBA announced new basketball marking changes for high level competitions. Many schools and colleges still use the old markings, in many cases we are able to offer successful options to remove

your old basketball lines and reinstate the new FIBA regulation format, therefore avoiding the need for the full sanding, sealing and lining process.

In 2014, Sportsafe installed a bespoke set of competition standard basketball line markings at Braintree College. This installation was designed to support the training of Great Britain’s Under 20’s basketball team, and to create a venue for several international basketball tournaments.

Sport England advises that all new sport surfaces should comply with the new regulations. Amending existing lines to the new FIBA regulations is affordable with Sportsafe.

Supplied and fitted using heavy duty aluminium trackway with best quality green or now an attractive blue 50mm mesh with sewn in sight screens complete with all support brackets lanyard cords and storage bag as standard.

Trackway system can be supplied to sub divide halls to customer requirements and can incorporate curve units or crossover junctions for versatility.

Standard bags are wall mounted but can be supplied winchable to avoid fire exits and doorways.

Roof protection netting

Supplied and fitted to protect roof space and cladded walls if required by architect or client.

Standard mesh size is white 50mm but can be supplied in 25mm for greater protection from smaller objects.

Fitted on tensioned wires this system can provide excellent protection from projectiles in a sports hall or gymnasium.

Archery netting

Archery netting is designed to slow down and stop arrows to avoid injury, arrow loss and strays. It consists of a fine cotton and polyester mesh available in white or green and can be used indoor or outdoor.

Indoor installs are supplied and fitted on heavy-duty aluminium trackway, for outdoor placement the netting is supplied and fitted on steel cabling enabling even the most unusual space to be used for archery practice.

Outdoor divider nets

Supplied and fitted to enable outdoor sport areas to be sub divided for maximum use of court space. Black 50mm mesh with a weighted bottom edge fitted on to a wire tension system makes this an ideal and easy way to divide playing areas.

3” box section stanchions are set in concrete, normally outside the playing area, with manual hand winch to tension wire. Netting and wire can be completely removed if necessary and stored if full playing area is required. Can span up to 60m with wheel away support stands along the length of the wire.

Supplied and fitted using heavy duty aluminium trackway with best quality white 50mm mesh sewn in sight screens, clip on side screens complete with all support brackets, lanyards and PVC storage pouch as standard. Can be supplied in single, double or triple bay units and to suit any length dependant on the customer’s requirements.

Sportsafe trackway is 6m in length so can span roof trusses of 6m and beyond without the need for additional support brackets.

The Sportwall, an 8ft x 4ft panel, was the first interactive product to hit the UK fitness market, offering hundreds of game combinations based on points/lives won and lost. Benches

The balance bench is superbly constructed by skilled, time-served craftsmen from selected kiln dried pine with each bench leg jointed into both the bench top and the bench foot, while the balance rail is dovetail jointed to the leg, producing a bench with optimum structural stability. Hardwood fillets in the bench tops prevent splitting.

Hardwearing, non-marking rubber feet provide stability and protect the floor, and rubber buttons on the 29mm thick top provide protection when the bench is inverted. Durable nylon hooks enable the bench to be attached to other equipment or climbing frames securely.

Also available with castors for ease of movement (NB: Castors engage only when the opposite end of the bench is lifted).

Manufactured from a timber based material that will not warp or shrink, this bench is particularly suited to nursery or primary schools where a low cost option is required. During trampoline use at any level, the British Gymnastics Association (BGA) recommend the use of end decks or “Spotting Decks”.

Trampoline end decks are padded sprung platforms which attach to the ends of a trampoline. These platforms are designed to minimise the risk of a trampolinist bouncing over the end of the trampoline during use, which is a common problem for many learners.

The spotting decks are collapsible with a light metallic structure enabling portability.

If you were to put new and remanufactured items of the same equipment next to each other, you would hardly be able to tell the difference.

That’s because remanufactured equipment is built using original parts, cleaned and finished as new - with replacement parts used where needed (except for the belts which are sourced from another supplier). Multi-use games areas (MUGAs)

With the increasing demand for a variety of sports both in the community and in our schools, it is difficult to provide individual facilities to cater for all sports in all weathers.

Worn out sports pitches and courts can be resurfaced using a range of different synthetic surface types, including:

The careful installation of the structures and surfaces is carried out by DBS (CRB) verified installation teams to deliver best value outdoor play and learning solutions matching your requirements within your budget constraints.

The installation teams work, in accordance with verified Health and Safety policies, to transform your site. Our supplier is accredited with Constructionline and Safecontractor, and are committed to ensuring that your location achieves the highest level of safety throughout the install process.

The timber shelters are designed for many needs and offer style and elegance to enhance your outdoor spaces. We also provide fully customised Lean-To style shelters in timber or with aluminium frames. All our structures can be supplied with protecting screens and guttering to match.

Continuous wet pour rubber crumb is a popular safety surfacing as it provides many years of low maintenance use, along with a contemporary and colourful appearance. Its finished appearance is likened to tarmac but it is formed from either black or coloured rubber granules mixed with a specialist binder.

Expert installersOur team of wet pour rubber crumb installers has remained unchanged for over 10 years, giving our customers confidence that our expertise in the field of laying this type of rubber safety surface is second-to-none.

We undertake complete groundworks, excavating and laying appropriate drainage materials before installing the base and top rubber surfaces if necessary. We install new surfaces and can also overlay new rubber over old rubber wet pour or tiled surfaces.

Work to European Standards

We work to European standards EN1176 and EN1177 which recommend the thickness of surface needed. The thickness of rubber ranges from 20mm to 90mm and is dependent on the critical fall height of the play equipment.

Brighten up your play area?

The predominant colour laid is black as it is the most moderately priced, but green and red are within most budgets and are often chosen to cheer up and brighten a shaded play area. Most other colours are also available.

We use only the best quality raw materials and alongside our installation expertise, this gives our customers the satisfying knowledge that they are receiving a quality safety surface, which will provide trouble-free use for many years.
