1950’s

Americans got into baseball when the NY Yankees won the World Series Title in 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1956 and 1958. They also won the American League Pennants in 1955 and 1957.

In soccer the Americans beat England 1-0 in the 1950 FIFA World Cup which was held in Brazil.

In England -FA Cup – Wolver Hampton Wanderers won 3-0 Blackburn Rovers.

The Soviet Union beat Yugoslavia 2-1 to win the first European Football Championship. World Series –

Pittsburgh Pirates win 4 games to 3 over the New York Yankees.

1970’s

South Africa completes a 4–0 over Australia at Port Elizabeth. This was South Africa's last Test match for 22 years.

The 1970 World Cup is won by Australia, who won Great Britain 12–7 in the finals.

UCLA wins Jacksonville 80–69 in the NCAA Men’s Division I Championship.

West Germany won Belgium 2–1. West Germany won the European Championships.

Edmonton Eskimos won the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 48–10. Edmonton Eskimos won the Grey Cup.

West Ham beat Arsenal 1-0 in the FA Cup final.

West Germany won the Soccer World Cup in Rome, Italy, defeating the defending champions Argentina 1-0 in the final.

Buster Douglas won Mike Tyson by a knockout in round 10 to win the world's unified Heavyweight title. Biggest upset in boxing history.
