Grande Prairie is honoured to host the 2015 Alberta Special Olympics and also be part of the 2015 Tour of Alberta cycling event.
Past successes include the 2011 Grey Power Players Curling Championship, the 2011 Western Canadian Artistic Gymnastic Champion-
ships, the 2010 Arctic Winter Games, the 2009 Capital One Grand Slam of Curling, the 2009 Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Arts Awards,
the 2006 Ford World Women’s Curling Championships, the 2004 RBC Cup (Junior A hockey) and the 1995 Canada Winter Games.
This publication was developed to help teams and sport associations find the information they need to host exceptional events. The
City of Grande Prairie and the Sport Council also work to empower all sport organizations by providing them with everything they

Comprised of the Revolution Arena and the Bowes Family
Gardens, this facility is a multi-purpose arena originally built for
the 1995 Canada Games. The arena is the proud home to the
Grande Prairie Storm, the local AHL team and the successful

The Dave Barr Community Centre is a quality multi-use venue

Evergreen Park is home to the largest exhibition facility north
of Edmonton - the ENTREC Centre – and includes a variety of
both indoor and outdoor recreational facilities. The 600-plus
acre complex was opened in 1982 and has become a focal
point of sport and recreation in the region.

• A 38,500 square foot, heated area with two indoor riding arenas as well as indoor stalls for 70 horses

The Eastlink Centre is Northern Alberta’s largest and most
exciting aquatics and sports facility. Connected to the Coca
Cola Centre, the Grande Prairie Gymniks facility and two of the
local secondary schools, the Community Knowledge Campus

Centre brings together four sports under one roof including,
hockey, figure skating, speed skating and sledge hockey. The
facility also hosts public programs such as public skate and

Grande Prairie Gymnastics and Gymniks All-Stars Cheerleading
is dedicated to meeting the needs of every athlete, from casu-
al tumblers to competitive athletes. This state of the art facility
is among the largest training centers in Canada, producing
a number of provincial champions as well as three national

The Wapiti Nordic Ski Club is one of Canada’s premier cross
country skiing and biathlon facilities. It is home to the Steve
Cooper Lodge which was completed in 1994 as one of the
major legacies from the 1995 Canada Winter Games. The club
is used by members in the spring, summer, and fall for hiking,
mountain biking, and running.
