DESCRIPTION

Local Position Measurement (LPM) is an electronic tracking system on high-frequency basis. It is used to measure and visualise the athletic performance as well as individual and team tactic in real time. Elite sport clubs, training and sport centres as well as youth academies use LPM to improve the strengths, speed and endurance of the athletes and to avoid injuries and overload by employing highly individualised, innovative and efficient training methods due to the usage of LPM.

Local Position Measurement (LPM) can be employed in individual sport and team sport for training purposes and/or competitions or matches.

Sport-specific software developed conjointly with experts, trainers and elite clubs is available for:

 Speed ice skating - lpmSkate3D®

 Ice hockey- lpmIceHockey3D®

 Football - lpmSoccer3D®

Team sports - lpmHandball, lpmHockey etc.

LPM can be used in a number of further sports such as cycling, motorsports, skiing, horse racing etc.

Page 5: Sports: Electronic tracking and analysis system: Local Position Measurement (LPM)

LOCAL POSITION MEASUREMENT. LOCAL POSITION MEASUREMENT. LOCAL POSITION MEASUREMENT. LOCAL POSITION MEASUREMENT. in a nutshell

The LPM-system concurrently measures position, speed, acceleration and the heart rate

Data is generated via radiofrequency technology and results from wireless communication between two entities:

a transponder which is carried in a lightweight, nondisruptive vest by each athlete and

several (base) stations positioned around the athletic field (e.g. ice rink, pitch) and connected to a computer.

Coverage of several athletic fields(one cell up to 500x500 meters)

Indoor and outdoor usage

Page 6: Sports: Electronic tracking and analysis system: Local Position Measurement (LPM)

LPM provides you real-time with the following information on one screen:

Computer animation of the athletic field (e.g. ice rink, pitch), the athlete and the ball (e.g. football, handball)

Display of collected data numerically or graphically

Live video-streaming of the training or competition (import of data from video-or GPS-systems possible) in an integrated video window on the screen –no manual processing to identify the player

Trainers, analysts and athletes take advantage of user-friendly lpm software - lpmSkate3D®, lpmIceHockey3D®,

lpmSoccer3D®, lpmTeamSports (lpmHandball, lpmHockey etc.)

and benefit from numerous innovative visualisation and analysis options: Arrange the data on the screen according to your needs, pick out and follow individual athletes from the player list, form groups and compare players or groups of players

Have a closer look at key situations, repeat them – slow motion or fast motion or in time lapse, mark them or set time markers

Watch the competition or training from several perspectives of the athletic field or from the athlete’s perspective

Present the analysed data in numbers (e.g. in tables)

Create analysis diagrams from the measured data according to your wishes and suited to your training methods , add drawings

Export and store the data and/or analyses in a database (also regarding a specific competition or training scene together withthe corresponding video stream)

lpmSoccer3DlpmSoccer3DlpmSoccer3DlpmSoccer3D®®®®. . . . Analysis Example – Heart Rate

lpmSoccer3D® provides insight into the heart activity of the players on the field in relation to training exertion.

By comparing the training response related to the heart rate with the number and types of actions, the trainer gets a complete picture of the player's physical fitness.

lpmSoccer3D® reveals whether the exertion of the players meets the training goals set. Trainers can accordingly adjust a player's individual training program or change exercises.

lpmSoccer3DlpmSoccer3DlpmSoccer3DlpmSoccer3D®®®®. . . . Analysis Example - Speed

Speed – focussed ‘explosivity training’ in a group of players

Due to lpmSoccer3D® speed measurement of groups of players at the same gives the trainer insight into exact speed at any point of time during the run. ‘Explosivity’ of the players becomes visible to the trainer and allows him tomake appropriate changes to the individual player's training regime.

lpmSoccer3D® replaces sport physiologists conducting speed measurements of players in order to gain insight into the speed of players over a specific distance.

In order to gain insight into the physical performance of players during the football season, it is essential to get information on the degree of recovery of the players during and after a specific training exercise.

By precisely monitoring movement in combination with the heart rate, individual recovery patterns can be determined. Performance data collected during a training can be updated easily in a personal player file with lpmSoccer3D®.

lpmSoccer3DlpmSoccer3DlpmSoccer3DlpmSoccer3D®®®®. . . . PSV Eindhoven Youth Academy

lpmSoccer3D® effectively supplements the PSV Eindhoven youth training programme:

Development and more efficient individual support of top talent

Objective analysis and comparison of the performance of youth players

Accurate records of performance data during the football season for an early identification of talent (e.g. creation of individual player profiles)

 Prevention of overexertion and injuries

Effective training of players for the starting line-up

Faster and better promotion of talented players into the starting line-up or higher transfer fees

Page 21: Sports: Electronic tracking and analysis system: Local Position Measurement (LPM)

lpmSoccer3DlpmSoccer3DlpmSoccer3DlpmSoccer3D®®®®. . . . Benefits for the training staff and the players

Due to the high frequency of the measurement (up to 1,000 m/s, e.g. 11 measured football players: ~ 91 measurements/s) and the high accuracy of the measurement both in static and dynamic conditions (+/-3 cm) at various speeds, trainers can benefit from a consistent tracking and visualisation of the physical key indicators and tactical behaviour of the players

Therefore training staff can give: prompt or real-time feedback e.g. during the training or straight after an exercise objective feedback based on facts (measured indicators and analyses diagrams) constructive feedback by visualising the player alternative options he would have had (in a specific match scene) or showing the player that he is doing right (e.g. plays according to goals setduring a training), thus increasing the player’s understanding for specific training methods unmistakable feedback by overcoming linguistic burdens through data visualisation

The performance of speed skaters can be improved with lpmSkate3D® by providing live performance skating-specific indicators to the coach:

Skating trajectory, Track and curve comparisons

Lap timing and lap segments, sector timing: speed and acceleration, maximum speed, average speed

 Maximum speed (point in time)

Speed after start and continuation, speed categories

 Covered distance

 Distance between skaters

 Skater comparisons

Speed, heart frequency and the position of the individual skater can be displayed in real time by simply clicking on the skater Timing per lap or lap segment - Sector timing Covered distance Average speed per sector and lap

Benefits Improvement of athletic performance Improvement of individual technical skills and technical skills of the whole team Improved of race strategies (determination of ideal race and corner strategy) An installation around an ice rink can also be used for other sports on ice e.g. short track skating, ice hockey and figure skating

Comparison of two ski runs of a skier regarding path, time and speed with visualization of the skiing line

Association of skiing line with sector times and paths possible

Drifting angle

Drifting is clearly recognisable from the start up to after the second curve from the surface generated -> rear measuring point deviates from the front

Final carving sweep -> rear measuring point follows the front in a line

=> Application in the professional field: Technique monitoring

Drifting analysis

Determine whether the skier carves cleanly (rear measuring point follows the line of the front)

At slow speed a clean carving sweep can be detected -> at increasing speed the technique becomes ragged
