CHRISTOPHER S. AHMAD, M.D.Dr. Ahmad is an Associate Attending Orthopaedic Surgeon at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center and is the Chief ofAdolescent and Pediatric Sports Medicine at the Medical Center’s MorganStanley Children’s Hospital. He is an Associate Professor of ClinicalOrthopaedic Surgery at the Columbia University College of Physicians andSurgeons.

Dr. Ahmad is the Head Team Physician for the New York Yankees. He is alsothe head team physician for The City College of New York, local highschools, and serves as a consultant to local metropolitan gymnastics andswim teams.

Dr. Ahmad has authored more than 100 articles and book chapters aboutshoulders, elbows and sports medicine and has given more than 100 lec-tures nationally and internationally. He is the author of the textbookMinimally Invasive Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. His areas of expertise andresearch focus are the biomechanics of the elbow, ACL injury preventionand screening, and advanced arthroscopic surgical techniques for sportsrelated injuries of the knee, shoulder and elbow. Dr. Ahmad has receivedmany awards for outstanding research in the field of sports medicine.

MERIDITH SONNETT, M.D., F.A.A.P.Dr. Sonnett is Chief of the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine atNewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital and an AssociateClinical Professor of Pediatrics at the Columbia University College ofPhysicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Sonnett’s primary academic focus is in the area of quality, patient safetyand performance improvement. She serves as the Chair of the Hospital’sDepartment of Pediatrics Quality Council, and the institution’s SignificantEvents Committee. As Chair of the Quality Council, Dr. Sonnett is involved infunded multicenter clinical research and has spearheaded numerous qualityinitiatives for the institution sharing her expertise in the areas of patientsafety, medical error reduction and quality improvement in heath care.

Dr. Sonnett and her team are looking forward to the opening of the new Alexandra and Steven Cohen Pediatric Emergency Department in the Summer of 2011.
