Sport Premium (SPM) Statement Sept 2014 - Aug 2015 In April 2013, the Department for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport announced new funding of £150 million to support the delivery of PE and school sport. Funding is being allocated to all state-maintained primary schools for the periods September 2013 to 31st August 2014 and from 1st September 2014 to 31st August 2015. Our allocation for the period 1st September 2014 to 31st August 2015 is £9568. We are using this funding to support the engagement of children and the development of our sports provision in the following ways (this list is being updated through the year): Outside providers engaged to inspire and challenge children to engage with sport (e.g. Tennis) Purchase further equipment to support our expanding sporting provision (i.e. new football team kit, table tennis tables, positive play etc) Additional after school sports clubs funded – Hockey, Tennis, Football New climbing equipment for new Early Years playground Insurance costs to enable colleagues to transport children to and from fixtures. Release time to support Head of P.E. to organise, arrange and oversee our involvement in a range of sporting fixtures across schools Engagement of specialist gymnastics teacher to work alongside teachers to help develop their professional skills and experience in teaching this discipline Continue to develop provision for swimming to enable all children to be able to swim 25m by the time they leave Sandford. Visits for Year 5 and 6 to the Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre in Weymouth’s Olympic waters to learn to sail. Engagement within and transport costs to take part in pyramid ‘Manor Mile’ running competition.
