Across Australia, 70% of land is privately owned. Every year millions of dollars are invested in managing res, weeds and pests. Many millions more are invested in conservation and land use planning as well as land restoration and rehabilitation. In the last 20 years, private protected areas in Australia have grown from thousands to millions of hectares. Nearly nine million hectares of Australia are privately owned and permanently protected; many millions more are under active management.

More than 500 million people in the US are involved in private land conservation.

Alibaba founder Jack Ma is leading China’s private land conservation networks with the China Global Conservation Fund raising USD$17.2M to support priority conservation projects internationally.

NAB has been a supporter of the PLC for the last three years. As Australia’s largest agribusiness bank, we see the work that landholders and conservationists undertake on private land to protect our unique natural heritage for the benet of all Australians. Increasingly we are learning just how important our natural capital is, not just to farming businesses but to the success of our entire economy.

The PLC plays a vital role in bringing the sector together to collaborate to drive continuous improvement, identify partnership opportunities and inspire each other with incredible stories about the connections between nature and people. It is a wonderful event to be part of.

But Wait – There’s MoreIn the lead-up to PLC18, there will be hackathons and other events

in locations across Queensland.

These hackathons are a pressure cooker for ideas and solutions.

We will throw in big questions and let the hackers play with ideas, develop and test solutions.

The intensives will shape PLC18 and drive participants to push boundaries and think big.

A Note from Our HostSPONSORS@PLC18 | Accelerating Connection

09 | plc-conference.org.au

Sponsors are key to making PLC18 the best it can be. This October, the Queensland Trust for Nature (QTFN) welcomes you to PLC18, hosted on the banks of the beautiful Brisbane River at QUT Gardens Point.

As well as signicant opportunities for brand exposure, our sponsors play a leading role in developing aliated workshops and events before, during and after the conference.

The conference is both a forum to discuss current trends as well as a place where innovative and standards-setting practices are introduced.

The forward focused theme of ‘Accelerating Connection’ provides an opportunity for business leaders, landholders, all levels of government, investors and other stakeholders to come together in a way that energises their connections and moulds their thinking about private land conservation.

I’m excited to invite your business to sponsor what is shaping up to be the best PLC yet!

Queensland Trust for Nature is a non-prot organisation dedicated to growing investment and

innovation in biodiversity conservation on privately-owned land.

Our aim is to permanently protect Queensland’s biodiversity corridors in a way that assists landowners

to grow their businesses and support their families.

As well as working with landowners, QTFN owns and actively manages several properties, including a cattle

station, a koala sanctuary and an island in the Southern Great Barrier Reef.

In all our projects and collaborations, we aim to nd new ways to direct commercial investment into

accelerating connection and protection.
