Separated into three concurrent conference streams, the summit will also encompass a large scale exhibition space showcasing a range of organisations, technologies and products tailored to the developing needs of the higher education sector, as well as expert presentations delivered by a comprehensive range of education sector luminaries. SUMMIT STREAM ONE - LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT
As we continue to become an increasingly connected global community, organisations must adapt to new ways of working and the need for dynamic and creative leadership has never been greater. By supporting a culture of leadership at all levels and across all environments, the higher education sector will continue to play a pivotal role in the intellectual, social and cultural development of our developing global community.
SUMMIT STREAM TWO - TECHNOLOGY
Major advances in technology across all areas of the education system are now changing the very way that we teach, learn, connect and share information. For academic institutions, charged with equipping students to excel in the new knowledge economy, the possibilities are significant but so too are the challenges. Learning how to seamlessly marry new technologies with established traditions to create more effective outcomes for students and educators remains a crucial goal for the higher education sector.
SUMMIT STREAM THREE - RESEARCH
Research and its future directions within higher education is a topic of major debate across the sector. Where is research heading, how will it be funded and what will be the research priorities of the future? One thing is certain: developments in this space will have significant and far reaching implications on the future of higher education and those that work in the sector.

The Australian School of Applied Management’s elite senior faculty sits at the helm of an extensive network of academics, business leaders, and expert facilitators. These exceptional individuals – comprising highly credentialed educators from Europe, North America, the Middle East and Australasia – continue to set new standards in the development and delivery of leadership education. The 2016 Australian & Asia-Pacific Higher Education Summit has evolved from the extensive work of the National Excellence in Educational Leadership Initiative (NEELI) throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Initially created to cater exclusively to leaders in higher education, NEELI is now broadening its scope to include leaders from a range of organisations throughout the vocational education and training sector. In an extension to the original methodologies used to create highly successful programs for school leaders, NEELI programs also combine the very best leadership pedagogy from the corporate sector with an informed understanding of the challenges faced by today’s educational leaders. Utilising the latest developments in online and blended learning technologies, NEELI programs marry the best of connected dialogic learning with easy to use and highly accessible online environments. Both NESLI and NEELI are collaborative arrangements bringing together an impressive group of stakeholders with a common commitment around developing exceptional learning organisations through exceptional leadership.
Through the provision of global best practice in leadership development, both NESLI and NEELI target the immediate need to equip Australian educators – across all divides – with the skills, knowledge and confidence to overcome the complex leadership challenges in today’s learning environments. In conjunction with many of Australia’s most respected educational institutions, NESLI and NEELI are creating a new national standard in educational leadership.
