The SAG-AFTRA Foundation was founded to support artists. We’re here for our union members in good times and bad. Whether it’s through our educational and performance programs, or our health and financial assistance, our goal is to create opportunities for performers to continue their craft, and offer assistance and programming that can literally change an artist’s life.
Founded in 1985, the SAG-AFTRA Foundation is a national non-profit organization that provides all of our programs at no-cost to union members and the communities we serve. The Foundation relies solely on support from grants, sponsorships, fundraisers and individual contributions to maintain our programs and create new ones.
Every year, the Foundation provides $800,000 in emergency financial and medical assistance to SAG-AFTRA performers and their dependents. The Foundation offers more than 900 free career-building workshops, seminars and panels to more than 30,000 SAG-AFTRA members. The Foundation’s video gallery [sagaftra.foundation/video-gallery] features over 600 educational and inspirational videos along with a live stream channel accessible to all performers and entertainment enthusiasts worldwide.
The Foundation operates offices, voiceover labs and computer labs in Los Angeles and New York along with a screening room in Los Angeles and the brand new Robin Williams Center for Entertainment and Media Screening Room in New York.
The Foundation’s children’s literacy program Storyline Online® [storylineonline.net] is a free online resource for children, teachers and parents, and receives more than 10 million views per month worldwide with a lifetime view count of over 500 million.

Through its free, educational Performers Programs, the SAG-AFTRA Foundation offers seminars and panels; casting classes; screenings and Q&As; and career retrospectives with celebrated actors and casts to help working artists develop their craft and build their careers. The Foundation records and/or livestreams panels and Q&As and posts them to its online video gallery.
The Conversations program features acclaimed actors exploring the process and profession of acting with an audience of fellow artists. These celebrated actors reflect on personal experiences and artistic influences through these career retrospectives, and share valuable insights into the craft and industry. The Foundation also screens current films and television shows followed by Q&As with leading actors and casts. The Casting Access program provides actors with insights into the casting and audition process through free workshops led by respected casting directors in the industry. The Business program hosts educational seminars and panels featuring established entertainment industry professionals who share their expertise on the business side of acting. In addition, small group workshops offer actors the opportunity to gain practical information and guidance to help manage their own careers. Dedicated to the teaching and development of voiceover at all skill levels, the Don LaFontaine (DLF) Voiceover Lab in Los Angeles, and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) Voiceover Lab in New York, offer state-of-the-art recording studios and educational workshops taught by the industry’s top VO artists that are available as free resources to voiceover artists and the greater acting community.
