Eligibility and Special Notes All Players Must Attend a School or Live in North Carolina K-1 Players Sunday Option: Players will be spotted a ½ point for every full point earned in K-1 section when entered into the K-3 section. We will round down for any quarter fractions in score. Webcast Top Boards: Top games will be broadcasted over the internet for public viewing on chessstream.com Withdrawals: If you cannot attend rounds as expected and must leave the event, please visit Chess Control/Registration area to confirm. Byes: Up to three ½ point byes allowed. Must declare before tournament begins. Teams: Minimum of 4 players in the same section to qualify as a team. Teams may consist of many players, but only top 4 scores count toward overall team score. Home School teams can be made up of players in the same zip code. Tie Breaks: Modified Median, Solkoff, Cumulative, Cumulative Opponent Tiebreaks for Denker and Barber Spot: In the event of a tie in points, the top player on tiebreak (listed above) will receive the spot. All scholarship money will be split evenly among the tied players. Pairing of Teammates: Teammate pairings will be avoided as long as legally possible. Players with perfect scores from the same team may be paired as early as round 4. Rating Supplement: We will use the March 2019 rating supplement for the event. Only March ratings will be used. Notation: Required for sections K-5 and above. Chess notation is encouraged for all players. 5 min time penalty for not taking notation in K-5 and above. Chess Clocks: Please Bring, Make sure clock is clearly marked with name. Digital Clocks: Recommended; 5 Second Delay for all regular time controls.
