Welcome to the first ever Peacock Arts Trail - an open studio and art exhibition event, designed to showcase the wealth of artistic talent that abounds in Corsham and the surrounding towns and villages. With just over 50 artists and galleries taking part, we are sure that you will be delighted and intrigued by the artwork on show. Practically all mediums are represented by our artists, from printmakers and painters, to jewellers and glass makers.

Following the Trail: The maps at the back of this brochure will help you devise your own route around the trail. Directions are given in each listing and look out for the blue arrows and signs outside each venue. Entrance to all venues is free.

environment. The streets are our gallery in this colourful, mischievous explosion of wool.

Les BensonPaintingI have a great interest in all aspects of the arts from classical to contemporary. Over the last 12 years I have become more absorbed in my painting and produce work in various mediums and subject matter. Recently I have been drawn towards painting portraits of which I take commissions.

Rick StephensonPainting I have been painting in most media all my life. I tend towards realism and sometimes surrealism, usually portraits. I believe a portrait should be a painting about someone not a picture of them. It should contain feelings and emotions and be a source of pleasure for all who chance upon it. I have exhibited at many gallery’s over the years, most of my work is sold by word of mouth as commissions.

Chris Dunn Painting, Drawing, Digital Art Chris graduated from Bath Spa University in 2008. Since then he has been working as a freelance illustrator and has exhibited his original watercolours at the Sunday Times Watercolour Competition and the Royal Watercolour Society Open. In 2011 Chris received first place in the Bath Prize. In 2012 he was awarded the Young Artist Prize at the Bath Artists Society Open and the Minerva Prize.

process that uses everyday materials such as cardboard, tile cement, textured wallpapers as well as intaglio inking, multi-colour inking and chine collee.

Sunday 6 OctoberWorking from a canine model, Karen Hilliard leads this one day workshop exploring animal form through the

medium of clay. Participants will follow a process that can be used for any sculptural work and will be fired giving you a permanent and lasting sculpture.

Andrea GarrihySculpture I studied sculpture at Bath Academy of Art and, unlike the art school, stayed in Corsham. My sculpture is very low-tech, carved with hand-tools in Bathstone, occasionally wood, marble or snow, and based on figures, knots, nature and word-play; punning titles adding an element of humour.

Influences include ornamental plasterwork and wrought iron. Since graduating with distinction from Bath Spa’s Masters programme in July 2012, exhibitions have included a solo show at The Holburne Museum in Bath.

Celia SmithSculpture, Drawing Celia Smith is an artist who draws with wire, as others draw with pencil. For her, creating sculptures out of wire is like drawing in three dimensions. David JonesCeramicsDavid Jones produces domestic stoneware pottery with an emphasis on quality and durability, for the kitchen and dining room. The ware is compatible with modern domestic appliances including ovens and dishwashers and will last for many years, maintaining a fresh, bright and smooth surface quality.

Brian KingSculpture, Photography I took up sculpture after retiring from work. Studied at City of Bath College under tutelage of Margaret Lovell, Ed Kinsey & Jonathan Mulvanney. Sculptures Cast in Bronze and glass also built from bronze loaded acrylic resin (Jesmonite). The sculptures are inspired by movement of water wind athletism and beauty of the human form.

Leonie WatsonResin These resin light boxes are completely unique, a fusion of art and light. I have made a range of designs but can also make them to order. I started out as a stained glass artist, but have recently enjoyed the art of resin - making as it allows me to create a stained glass effect whilst giving me more freedom in terms of material and colour.

Vicki PortmanJewellery Vicki designs and creates original jewellery using sterling silver, semi precious stones and sea-glass. Her jewellery reflects her interest in shape, colour and form and her work constantly changes and evolves in response to the materials and other outside influences, ensuring that each piece is unique and individual.

Karen Skeates TextilesFelted pictures of British wildlife and birds showcasing fleece from traditional and native sheep breeds. Felt vessels inspired by ancient figurines, legends and animal forms.
