Welcome to the first ever Peacock Arts Trail - an open studio and art exhibition event, designed to showcase the wealth of artistic talent that abounds in Corsham and the surrounding towns and villages. With just over 50 artists and galleries taking part, we are sure that you will be delighted and intrigued by the artwork on show. Practically all mediums are represented by our artists, from printmakers and painters, to jewellers and glass makers.

We are indebted to Corsham Town Council, The Pound Arts Centre and Omni Media for their financial sponsorship of the Trail. Without such assistance we would not have been able to realise our vision of promoting the visual arts in our area in such a way. We would also like to thank the artists, galleries and advertisers involved in this first trail, for their enthusiasm and support.
The Trail offers a wonderful day out; expect the unexpected, be inspired, captivated and diverted.
Thank you so much for your participation.
A large family of peacocks live in the beautiful grounds of Corsham Court. They spend their days roaming the streets of Corsham and have become synonymous with the town.
welcome why peacock arts trail?to Peacock Arts Trail 2013
A huge thank you goes to Rick Smith, a renowned and local artist who brought our vision to life with this beautiful
illustration. Peacocks seem to feature strongly in the Smith household. His wife Susie Brooks created the well known series of Corsham images, including ‘Corsham Courting’. To find out more about Rick and Susie’s work, visit www.brookssmithgallery.co.uk
Be prepared to get stitched up, somewhere, sometime soon, on a street, or a tree, or a lion near you. Hidden in the humdrum of life, threads of creation are being pulled together and preparing to reach out and touch you when you least expect it.
A woolly wonderland in an overlooked place or a forgotten corner on the streets of Corsham will weave the wool of life into your
environment. The streets are our gallery in this colourful, mischievous explosion of wool.
Everyone can be part our installation.
Lets change the way we see the world...

I keep one foot in reality so the onlooker connects easily my work. I am free to paint my own ideas but a proportion of my work is commission based engendering other challenges.

Les BensonPaintingI have a great interest in all aspects of the arts from classical to contemporary. Over the last 12 years I have become more absorbed in my painting and produce work in various mediums and subject matter. Recently I have been drawn towards painting portraits of which I take commissions.
Rick StephensonPainting I have been painting in most media all my life. I tend towards realism and sometimes surrealism, usually portraits. I believe a portrait should be a painting about someone not a picture of them. It should contain feelings and emotions and be a source of pleasure for all who chance upon it. I have exhibited at many gallery’s over the years, most of my work is sold by word of mouth as commissions.

My sculpture is very low-tech, carved with hand-tools in Bathstone, occasionally wood, marble or snow, and based on figures, knots, nature and word-play; punning titles adding an element of humour.

Celia SmithSculpture, Drawing Celia Smith is an artist who draws with wire, as others draw with pencil. For her, creating sculptures out of wire is like drawing in three dimensions. Birds are her main inspiration; capturing their movement and character is her primary concern. She finds that wire has a spontaneity that can give her sculptures a feeling of life and energy.

Cath Bloomfield Mixed Media, PrintmakingI make stitched collagraph prints and mixed media collages. I consider myself to be predominantly a mark maker who is fascinated by texture. A lot of my work is about setting up a dialogue between colour and surface, often with a stitched line thrown in. Each print is unique and each printing block has a limited life.

Leonie WatsonResin These resin light boxes are completely unique, a fusion of art and light. I have made a range of designs but can also make them to order. I started out as a stained glass artist, but have recently enjoyed the art of resin - making as it allows me to create a stained glass effect whilst giving me more freedom in terms of material and colour.

Sandra PorterPrintmakingI am a painter and printmaker interested in the symbiotic relationship between these two disciplines. My work explores a fascination with grids, stripes and recurrent schemes found in architecture and nature whilst structure and pattern are the means by which I interpret the world around me.

Chiara GillPaintingQuestions surrounding form, perception and similitude stand at the core of my artistic practise. Drawing inspiration from the everyday surfaces, spaces and found objects in my surroundings. I engage the viewer by challenging formal preconceptions. The creation of these seductive surfaces and forms toy with the readings of process, haptic response, ambiguity and illusiveness.
