Spoken About Over 400 X’sBoth Positive- protects a person by motivating good& Negative- controls or paralyses to do wrong

Beware of the Fear of Man

Pr 29:25 The fear of man brings a snare:

Three Points Regarding the Fear of Man 1. What do you fear from men?

a. Physical pain or loss of life- Jn 20:19 ¶ Then, the same day at evening, being

the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for

fear of the Jews,

b. Rejection-Loss of Acceptance, Friends.

Ga 2:12 For before that certain came from James,

he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself,

fearing them which were of the circumcision. c. Conflict- Family,

Relatives, Friends etc. Mt 10:34 "Do not think that

I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to

bring peace but a sword. 36 "and 'a man's enemies will

be those of his own household

d. Ridicule- Contemptuous laughter-

Ac 17:32 ¶ And when they heard of the resurrection of

the dead, some mocked, while others said, "We will

hear you again on this matter."

e. Loss of Security Jn 12:42 ¶ Nevertheless even among the rulers

many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out

of the synagogue;

f. Loss of Prestige, Status, Reputation Ph 3:7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also

count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I

have suffered the loss of all things…2. What can our fear cause?

a. Outright Denial of Christ Lu 22:59 Then after about an

hour had passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, "Surely this fellow also was

with Him, for he is a Galilean.” 60 But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what

you are saying! … the rooster crowed. 61 And the Lord

turned and looked at Peter.

b. Denial Through Silence

Jn 7:13 Howbeit no man spoke openly of Him for fear of the

Jews.

c. Rejection of Christ for Salvation)

Lu 23:20 Pilate, therefore, wishing to release Jesus,

again called out to them. 21 But they shouted, saying,

"Crucify Him, crucify Him!”

d. Shame for Christ and His Words

Lu 9:26 "For whoever is ashamed of Me and My

words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory,

Ro 1:16 ¶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God

unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

We must not be ashamed of the person Christ, nor His teachings.

2Ti 4:2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort,

with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure

sound doctrine, but they will heap up teachers to themselves according to their

own lusts, who tickle the ear.

e. The Compromise of God's Truth

Jer 1:8 Do not be afraid of their

faces …

1Ki 22:12 And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, "Go up to Ramoth Gilead and prosper, for the LORD will deliver it into the king's hand.” 13

Then the messenger who had gone to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, "Now listen, the

words of the prophets with one accord encourage the king. Please, let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak encouragement.“ 14 And Micaiah said, "As the LORD lives, whatever the LORD says to me, that I will speak.“ 17 Then he

said, "I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. 18 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Did I not tell you he would not prophesy good concerning me, but

evil?“ 26 So the king of Israel said, "Take Micaiah…Put him in prison, and feed him with

bread and water of affliction, until I come in peace.

Nu 13:1 ¶ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 "Send men to spy out the land of

Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel… 26

¶ Now they departed and came back to Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel;

they brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. 27

Then they told him, and said: "We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. 31 But the men who had gone up with him said, "We are not able to go up against the

people, for they are stronger than we.”33 "There we saw the giants and we were like grasshoppers in their sight.“

1. A Healthy Fear of Hell Mt 10:28 "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill

the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul

and body in hell. Heb 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.2. Faith & PrayerRe 12:11 "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…Ac 4:29 "Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 31 And when they had prayed… they spoke the word of God with boldness.
