SPLINT & CAST

❖ seperti bandage dengan fungsi tambahan :

1. mencegah pergerakan/imobilisasi → stabilkan area yg

cedera pada proses penyembuhan tulang

2. Mencegah kerusakan tambahan pd cedera ligament,

tendon/ jaringan lain

❖ CAST : Splint sirkuler, membalut melingkar seluruh bag yg

cedera

❖ SPLINT : membalut salah satu sisi

SPLINT MATERIAL

•Material Splint : metal, plastic, kayu/bahan kompak

dengan bentuk lurus/lengkung, bentuk mengikuti

anggota gerak

→ Lebih mudah dilepas & disesuaikan

•Material Cast :

1. Fiber

2. Plaster

•Material: thermoplastic splinting

•1% perforation or smooth

•Resistance to Stretch Moderate

resistance to stretch.

• Tolerates minimum to moderate

handling during splint

•Plaster of Paris/Gyps

• (+) : mudah untuk

dibentuk di sekitar kontur

kaki, tidak agresif untuk

kulit dan kuat

• (-) : tidak tahan terhadap

kelembaban dan pd saat

rontgen kurang penetrasi

sinar-X dengan baik

SPLINTING OF FRONT LEG

▪ instability distal from the proximal 1/3 of the radius (e.g.,

radius-ulna or Metacarpal fractures, instability of the carpal

joints).

▪ Contraindication:

1. Open fractures

2. Open wounds

3. Instable fractures (even closed)

•Material:

•cotton hydrophilic gauze, adhesive tape, a strip of

wood, aluminium or thermoplastic material of the

length of the extended front leg from the tip of the toes

till the edge of the scapula.

•Material:

• thin cotton,

•plaster of paris

•hydrophilic or elastic gauze

• adhesive tape.

Aplikasi plester paris

•Material : Polypropylene Shell,

• Feline Front Leg

• Splint is placed behind leg and velcro

straps are tightened over front of leg

•Velcro straps allows quick on/off for

bandage change or healing

▪ Stabilisation of pathology

proximal of the proximal 1/3 of

the radius (radius ulna, humerus

or spinal fractures, aftercare of

luxation of elbow or shoulder

joint.
