OpenFlow Switch Emulation (OSE): BPK-1195A

Spirent TestCenter release 4.70 added the following features to OpenFlow Switch Emulation:

New Topologies: Full Mesh – Every switch is connected to every switch via a topology

port

Standalone Topology – Each switch is only connected to the controller and has no

topology connections or ports – this will allow up to 2x the number of switches for scale

testing (4000 Switches).

OpenFlow v1.4 is now supported. This is only supported on OVS version 2.5.0.

VXLAN EVPN Overlay Wizard with Enhanced L3VNI Features

BPK-1310A & BPK-1311A VXLAN Emulation with EVPN Learning & EVPN Emulation

Spirent TestCenter release 4.70 introduces a new VxLAN EVPN overlay wizard. The new wizard

introduces a new page, “Configure L2 L3 Segments” that allows users to configure both L2VNIs

and L3VNIs. Users can define “Tenant VRF” with its VRF ID and VRF RT format, “L2VNI” with its

step and block step, “L3VNI” with its step, the number of L2VNIs per L3VNI, and RT and RD with

pre-defined formats and offset for both L2VNI and L3VNI. The new page also provides a

dropdown menu where users can set the traffic endpoint mode to “L2-VNI”, “L3-VNI”, or both “L2

and L3-VNI”. Depending on the selected traffic endpoint mode, the wizard then displays the

configuration page for “L2VNI VM Devices”, or “L3VNI VM Devices”, or both.

VXLAN VTEP Multi-homing to Multiple Spines Using VLANs

BPK-1310A & BPK-1311A VXLAN Emulation with EVPN Learning & EVPN Emulation

In Spirent TestCenter release 4.70, the VxLAN EVPN overlay wizard now supports emulating a

single VTEP multi-homing to multiple spine switches using VLANs. To enable this feature, the

emulated VTEP must be configured with multiple VLANs; one VLAN for each of the spine

switches. Users must select the checkbox “Multi-homed VTEP across VLAN” and then set the

“Number of multihomed VTEPs per port” and “Number of DUTs”. The number of DUTs should be

equal to or less than the number of VLANs configured on the VTEP.

The wizard creates multiple VTEP devices with the same router-id, the same number of attached

VM devices, and the same set of EVPN routes, to emulate a single multi-homed VTEP. These

VTEP devices will have same MAC address, IPv4 address, and IPv4 default gateway address by

default.

EVPN Stream Based Results

BPK-1311A EVPN Emulation

Spirent TestCenter release 4.70 supports a new MAC stream result view, IPv4 stream result

view, and IPv6 stream result view under the EVPN Stream Results option.

The EVPN MAC Stream Result view displays information such as: inner source/destination MAC

address, outer source/destination MAC address, and EVPN MPLS label information, in real time

for each virtual machine/host to virtual machine/host traffic stream.

Page 9: Spirent TestCenter Software and Hardware New …...Spirent TestCenter 4.70 New Features November 2016 5 Software Spirent TestCenter release 4.70 adds support for Python 3.4 for 64-bit

Similarly, for EVPN IPv4 and IPv6 stream results, the feature displays: IPv4 or IPv6 address, and EVPN MPLS label information, in real time for each virtual machine/host to virtual machine/host traffic stream.

VxLAN Merge VNI Configurations from Multiple Wizard Runs

BPK-1310A VxLAN Emulation with EVPN Learning

Spirent TestCenter release 4.70 supports running the VxLAN wizard multiple times on different

test ports, and then merging the L2VNI/L3VNI/VM configurations from multiple wizard runs, in

certain scenarios:

If there is a single L2VNI per block in each of the wizard runs, merging the L2VNI and VM

configuration from multiple wizard runs is supported.

If there are multiple L2VNIs per block, and the expanded L2VNI set from multiple wizard runs are

the same, merging the configurations is supported.

However, if there are multiple L2VNIs per block, and the expanded L2VNI set from multiple

wizard runs are not the same, merging the configurations from multiple wizard runs is not

supported.

If L3VNI is also used, configurations from multiple wizard runs are only merged if the L3VNI

value/count/step from multiple wizard runs are the same, and if L2VNI configurations from

multiple wizard runs can also be merged.

VXLAN L3 Distributed Gateway

BPK-1310A VXLAN EVPN Learning

Spirent TestCenter release 4.70 supports L3 VxLAN gateway functionality on emulated VTEPs.

An emulated VTEP can send traffic from simulated virtual machine hosts in a local L2 segment to

simulated virtual machine hosts in another L2 segment, on a different emulated VTEP, using

L3VNI.

For example, users can configure VM1 in a local segment with L2VNI 100 and IP subnet

100.1.1.0/24 on VTEP1, and VM2 in another segment with L2VNI 200 and IP subnet

200.1.1.0/24 on VTEP2. Then, use L3VNI 10000 to send bidirectional traffic between the VM1

and VM2.

Spirent TestCenter release 4.70 supports OSPFv3 extended LSA full mode. To use the OSPFv3

Extended LSA feature, use the existing OSPFv3 Wizard to set up Legacy OSPFv3 routers and

LSAs, and then at the OSPFv3 router level, set “Enable Extended LSA” to true.

Extended router, network, inter-area prefix, inter-area router, AS external, NSSA, Link and intra-

area prefix LSAs are supported. For each type of extended LSA, users can add new LSAs and

associated TLVs and sub-TLVs for the extended LSA. Use the OSPFv3 action commands to

age/re-advertise the Extended LSAs. The OSPFv3 Result View is extended with counters for the

new Extended LSAs.

PCEP Router Block

In Spirent TestCenter release 4.70, users can change the device count of PCE or PCC to more than one, which allows users to create multiple PCE/PCC sessions per deviceblock level.

The Speaker Entity Identifier was a changed from a fixed value/string to a wildcard, to support more sessions from the same deviceblock. Currently, only @b wildcard is supported without Preview.

In the Association Groups dialog, there are new columns to input the offset; "Association ID Device Offset" and "IPv4 Association Source Device Offset" for IP Version "IPv4", and new column "IPv6 Association Source Device Offset" for IP Version "IPv6".

On the Edit PCEP LSPs tab, when users edit the LSP in ASSOCIATION Groups dialog, there are new columns: "Association ID Device Offset" and "IPv4 Association Source Device Offset" for IP Version "IPv4." For IP Version “IPv6” there is a new column "IPv6 Association Source Device Offset."

In PCEP LSP Configuration (both PCC LSP and PCE LSP), when the Device IP version is IPv6,

there are two new columns: "Source IPv4 Address Device Offset" and "Destination IPv4 Address

Device Offset" to increment the LSP source and destination address across PCE/PCC sessions.

When the Device IP version is IPv6, there are two new columns: "Source IPv6 Address Device

Offset" and "Destination IPv6 Address Device Offset."

By editing the LSP Info tab, users can input the starting LSP ID, Tunnel ID, and Device Offset to

specify how IP addresses should increment across all LSPs under the device block.

FlexLSP/ RSVP-TE ASSOCIATED BIDIRECTIONAL LSP: New! BPK-1334A RSVP-TE ASSOCIATED BIDIRECTIONAL LSP BASE PKG A

Spirent TestCenter release 4.70 introduces a new feature for RSVP-TE Bi-dir LSP (FlexLSP). To enable FlexLSP, users edit the RSVP Tunnels/LSP to enable IPv4 Ext. Association Object and Association type, either Single or Double sided; this translates to Co-routed and non co-routed LSPs.

Users can modify the tunnel count to more than 1, to increase the number of tunnels, when the association ID is set to increment to 1. Users can also set LSP increment count to more than 1, in order to get a similar effect with different LSP IDs. However, when users enable both the increment options (Tunnel Count and LSP Count set to more than one), it actually multiplies the count using the n x n algorithm.

There is no option to enable/disable reverse object for FlexLSP; however, when associate ERO

object is set on the Reverse Object column, reverse object is sent automatically. Refer to the

screen capture below.
