May has always beenone o my avorite monthsand not just because itrsquos mybirthday Not only is thewarm spring weather nowhere to stay but also thisseason o graduations andsummer breaks reminds

us o the natural changingseasons o lie Tis yearndash in the midst o so manypersonal changes ndash thereminder that God is with

us in all seasons o lie is perhaps more important thanever We read in Ecclesiastes 3 the reassuring words thatldquoFor everything there is a season and a time or everymatter under heaven a time to be born and a time to diea time to plant and a time to pluck up what is plantedhellip atime to seek and a time to lose a time to keep and a timeto throw away a time to tear and a time to sew a time tokeep silence and a time to speak a time to love and a timeto hate a time or war and a time or peacerdquo Whicheverseason we find ourselves in the scripture reminds us thatGod is there with us walking through both the highestmountains and the deepest valleys

It has been an amazing journey to watch the students inour youth group grow up throughout so many seasons otheir lie Itrsquos hard to believe how much they have grownup though the students who are graduating rom highschool this year were just in 3rd grade when I startedhere at Woodmont Over these many years I have been

so privileged to witness the ups and downs o lie with somany o them When I was exhausted and waking upway too early in Guatemala the youth were there withsmiling aces ready to make new riends I I got stuck ona question about interpreting scripture they helped me seeit in a new way during one o our uesday morning Bible

studies o say the least the seasons o lie have sharpenethese students with wisdom courage and strength or thecoming days ndash truly a lasting inspiration to me In theown way each o our youth live out Paulrsquos instructions ta young minister ldquoLet no one despise your youth but sthe believers an example in speech and conduct in lovin aith in purityrdquo (1 imothy 412) Regardless o whseason o lie you are in ndash young or old rich or poor joyu

or grie-stricken ndash my hope and prayer or each person our community is to remember the bold and courageouzest or lie that our young people model or the rest o u(which still exists somewhere deep down inside each ono us)

On May 15 the youth will be ront and center leadinour worship services or Youth Sunday Our themthis year is ldquoForever Young rusting in Godrsquos Love oa Lietimerdquo Te students have been working hard omore than a month to write prayers design the bulletinlearn music serve offering and communion and cramoving sermons Regardless o what words they wspeak however they have already modeled a love or Goand passion or community that will serve as a powerreminder o the good that can come out o trusting iGodrsquos love or a lietime I hope you will join us or YoutSunday on May 15 as we celebrate the spirit o our studenand summon the lietime o Godrsquos love that exists withieach o us Until then I offer these words o blessing roma great American poet

May you grow up to be righteousMay you grow up to be true

May you always know the truth

And see the lights surrounding youMay you always be courageousStand upright and be strong
