PoetryPoetry can be structured or unstructured, long or short, funny or sad,

rhyming or non-rhyming. It is up to the poet to decide!

Poetic techniques: ImageryPoets paint pictures with the words they choose. They use descriptive vocabulary (such as adjectives) to help the reader create an image in their minds of the subject or topic.

Some of the ways that poets create images in poetry include:

● appealing to the senses (sight, sound, smell, touch)● using figurative language (simile and metaphor)● create meaning through symbols.
