聖若瑟英文中學St. Joseph's Anglo-Chinese School

The Speech Day was successfully held on 26th May 2017 at the school hall, which was filled with joyous faces of graduates, parents, teachers and friends of our school.

We were glad to have Dr. Woo Siu Bon, a distinguished alumnus of our school, as The Guest of Honour of the event. Dr. Woo reminded graduates to be grateful to their Alma Mater, and stay persistent when they meet obstacles in pursuit of their dreams. The speech was followed by the distribution of graduation certificates and academic awards. Parents’ hearts swelled with pride as they watched their sons collect their certificates.

After the formal proceedings, the hall was charged with excitement. This started with a funny drama performance by students from our feeder primary school. Then, representatives of the graduates took the stage, impressing the audience with their amazing musical talents in a band performance. Having mixed feelings, these big boys could not control their tears when expressing gratitude to their parents and bidding farewell to their friends and teachers in the school.

A rousing rendition of ‘Auld Lang Syne’, which reminded our graduates of all their happy days in St. Joseph’s, brought the ceremony to a blissful end.

Primary Schools 5-a-sideFootba l l Inv i ta t i on Compe t i t i on 2016.12.1717th December, 2016 is a special day with significant meaning, as the first “Primary Schools 5-a-side Football Invitation Competition” was successfully held, special thanks to honoured participation of St. Joseph’s Anglo-Chinese Primary School, Kowloon Bay St. John the Baptist Catholic Primary School, St. Edward’s Catholic Primary School and G.T. (Ellen Yeung) College (Primary School).

The event was a joy to behold as revealed by parents’ tireless cheering and students’ hard-fought performance. With very convincing performance, the Champion went to St. Edward’s Catholic Primary School, while St. Joseph’s Anglo-Chinese Primary School and Kowloon Bay St. John the Baptist Catholic Primary School attended first and second runner-up with marginal difference. Playing a more junior team, G.T. (Ellen Yeung) College (Primary School) fought all the way to third runner-up in the leapfrog challenge.

Excitement was much in the air when we celebrated the school’s 59th founding anniversary in the morning of 17th March 2017.

A Thanksgiving Mass was officiated at the school hall by Rev. Fr. Joseph Chan Wing Chiu, who is also our alumnus. This formally opened the 59th Anniversary cum Diamond Jubilee kick-off ceremony. The highlight of the ceremony was when the five gears representing the core values of Catholic Education were started to move, which symbolised the kick-off of the school’s Diamond Jubilee celebration.

Leaving the hall after mass, the familiar jingle of the Mr. Softee truck would be heard close by. All Josephians were generously treated to various ice creams as a carnival mood enlivened the celebrations. On the sportsground, there were crowds cheering wildly for the teacher-student football and dodgeball matches.

Our 59th anniversary was a worthy celebration as all in attendance had great fun, and more importantly, had time to reflect on the memory and legacy of Brother Paul Sun.

Now we are impatiently counting down to the school’s Diamond Jubilee!

Josephians’ Homecoming 2017.6.3 (Diamond Jubilee celebration activity)

If you ask parents what precious moment do they long for the most, they most likely will say it is the visit of their grown-up children. Similarly, for St Joseph’s Anglo-Chinese School, our priceless moment is “Josephians’ Homecoming”. 3rd June, 2017 signifies a historical milestone. It was a sports day, together with BBQ, and most importantly a pre-Diamond Jubilee gathering of principals, teachers and students. And when it coincided with a day for pre-ordering Diamond Jubilee souvenirs, the whole school was fully occupied by hundreds of current and old principals, teachers and students. At the playground, football and basketball remained the spotlight. At the school hall, table tennis and badminton were ongoing, while Room 101 was another extremely crowded, yet splendidly energetic area due to purchase of souvenirs.Time flies, money flows and people come and go. Josephians, nevertheless, always come back.
