Indicates how diffusely theemitter signal is spread.Provides information aboutmutual interference when anumber of photoelectric sen-sors are mounted in series.

HANDLING OF FIBER UNITS
Fiber units are very sensitive to mishandling. Improper handling
may lead to unexpected failure. Take the following precautions
when handling fiber units:
• Do not impact or damage the sensing head.
• Do not bend or apply excessive force to the fiber elements.
• Do not subject the sensing head to excessive torque.
• When a fiber unit is used in a location subject to vibration,
secure it tightly. Take special care to ensure that the coupling
between the fiber unit and the amplifier unit.
• When bending a fiber unit, bend at a radius larger than the
minimum bending radius.
• Leave a straight length of fiber at least 40mm (at least 10mm
for small-diameter fibers) near the plug element or the tip of the
fiber unit.
• Do not use fiber optic units when organic solvents are in use.
• Follow the precautions below when handling SUS tube fibers.
(1) Do not bend parts marked by ‘‘ ’’.
(2) Do not bend the SUS tube three times or more in once sec-
tion.
(3) Do not twist the SUS tube.
• The scanning distance of fiber optic photoelectric sensors may
be 20% shorter depending on their fiber cut-off state and the
state of the connection with the amplifier unit. We recommend
using fiber optic photoelectric sensors at 80% or less of their
scanning distance.

ATTACHING THE FIBER UNIT TO THE BODY
HPX-NT:
• Inserting fiber units to the amplifier
Open the cover. (only a model with a cover)
Move the lever forwards to the release position.
Firmly insert the tip of each fiber into the holes on the amplifier.
Return the lever to the clamp position.
Close the cover.
•Caution for use
In the case of slim fibers, firmly insert the attachment into the
holes of the amplifier and then insert the fiber into the holes of the
attachment.
In this case, assemble the fiber in such a way as projecting 0.5
to 1mm from the head of attachment.
