ABOUT THE 519 Thank you for considering The 519 Church Street Community Centre as a venue for your upcoming event. The Centre has been the hub of our community since 1976.

There are many reasons to host your event with us.

The 519 is a historic venue, built in 1906 as the annex to the Granite Club, the building and its spaces have been used for entertaining for over 100 years. The Grand Ballroom, staircase and private rooms demonstrate the building’s history and are the perfect backdrop for a variety of events.

Most importantly however, by holding your event at The 519 you demonstrate your commitment to the diverse downtown communities we serve. All profits from your event will be used to deliver our vital, award-winning community programs. In addition to our programs and services, over 250 community groups meet at The 519. We see over 30,000 people make nearly 160,000 visits to The Centre every year - we truly are a place where communities meet, participate and celebrate.

Thank you for being a part of our continued success - we look forward to discussing your event with your further.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE

In 2010, The 519 opened a new social-entrepreneurship restaurant and catering facility called FABARNAK.

FABARNAK provides a three-fold benefit to the community:

Our food is locally and sustainably sourced, and • contains healthy and nutritious ingredients. You won’t find artificial sweeteners or canned ingredients in our food. Our profits support community-based programs • and help to increase food programming for our neighbourhood, allowing you to eat good food, and do good for your community at the same time. Our staffing model is a training program for people • who face barriers to employment. Whether they are newcomers to the country with no Canadian work experience, or their LGBT-identity has made it difficult to find meaningful employment, our staff are gaining important employment and training experience to help them build a better life for themselves.

Not only does FABARNAK do good for our community, it makes fabulous food which satisfies even the most discriminating foodie.

Our chef would be happy to discuss menu and beverage options for your event and to provide an opportunity to sample the fantastic food our restaurant is able to produce.
