O u r 32n d Ye a r i n t he B u l l B u s i n e s s What a wild ride the last year has been! From pandemic, to grasshoppers, to drought, to fire; it seems we cannot predict what

might happen next… except change… change is constant! Despite all the change in our industry, our philosophy on the kind of cat-tle we try to bring you has not. Our goal is to produce cattle with balanced traits that will function as economically as possible under the conditions at hand. Our program focuses on cattle that thrive in our environment. That means they should be able to birth with minimal assisted deliveries, thrive on dryland pasture, and bring in profitable weaning weights come fall. Beyond that, they need to provide us with quality replacement females that can carry on the sustainability of the herd. With the ever–changing cattle market, profitability is more important than ever. We would like to be a part of your progression down that path.

The bulls have been developed on CHS Hi-En Bull Challenger, supplemented since the first of the year with ADM AminoGain. The hay is mostly Western Wheatgrass and Crested Wheat Grass; and is offered free choice. They are also on Vigortone Bloat Grazer mineral and salt, also both offered free choice. We try to feed for structural growth and development, rather than for fat and shine; therefore they will not look like feedlot cattle. They are currently on 14# of grain and free choice hay. The bulls were fertility tested on March 26th and all passed at that time, except as noted for retest.

All of the pertinent performance and EPD information available is included in the catalog; Both Actual and Adjusted BWs are given; WW and YW are adjusted as per RAAA formulas. All of the cattle have had the full round of branding and weaning shots and have been poured on and given Fusogard for foot rot. No other shots have been given this spring. Scrotal measurements and pric-ing are included with these lots.

We are very thankful to have built up a clientele of loyal repeat buyers over the years and recognize that this is what keeps us in business year to year. It is also a pleasure to welcome new customers to the program. Our greatest privilege is to meet and work with so many great people. Our goal is to provide quality seed stock to meet the needs of our customers. The primary object ive is to produce sound, functional cattle for the feeder and replacement markets. Your satisfaction with the cattle is important to us and we would hope that you would let us know if there is a problem. We hope that we have done the best for them that we can. They have been fed and cared for to the best of our ability. We believe that they are prepared to go to work for you. Please contact me to view the cattle any time. I will be glad to assist you when I am not delivering or working downtown. If you have questions about the cattle, get in touch with me. I have tried to hit the high points in the footnotes, but there is only so much room in the catalog. Videos are available on all the lots and I can email them to you, or they can be viewed on our Facebook page. I would be glad to try to answer any questions you might have. General Health: All bulls have had a general health and fertility exam, performed by a licensed veterinarian, prior to sale day. All

bulls are sold as guaranteed breeders. Health certificates will be obtained for interstate transportation, if necessary. Arrange-ments for any other health requirements will be made as necessary, according to terms agreed to by both buyer and seller.

Brand Inspections: Brand Inspections will be written as needed. Delivery: Free delivery on Bulls only for the first 250 miles. All other deliveries at cost, based on mileage and fuel economy. Long

distance deliveries may be coordinated with other breeders or available vendors to facilitate convenience and expedience for all parties. Requests to keep animals past May 1st can be arranged at a cost of $2.50 per head, per day. Be sure to specify good delivery and transfer instructions with settlement. If you have a target delivery date, please advise, otherwise deliveries are made as work schedules and weather allow, and prior to breeding season.

Guarantees: All bulls are sold as guaranteed breeders. Every effort has been made to represent the cattle fairly and accurately.

Please read additional terms of guarantee included in the terms and conditions at the back of the catalog.

Statement has been used on heifers (2017) and mature cows. Average BW over 3 years of progeny is 76#, while maintaining NR ave of 99 and YR ave of 100. The shape and expres-sion, extension of spine, and marbling traits of this bull carries well into the offspring. He was the #1 bull for REA and #3 for MARB in his group at Redlands. There is good strength in the economic composite traits. We have a handful of daughters calving this spring, but the progeny tend to run to males.

5125 has been primarily used on yearlings and young cows with first calf at side. This is a stout featured bull with a strong, wide top and a square base. The light BW is consistent with an average BW over four years of 66#. Progeny generally are moderate to small framed with broody females and the bulls typically carry the density of their sire.

Pick of the Gibbs Red Angus 2018 lineup. Chosen for his overall phenotype, the moderate BW (average 76#), overall balance of the EPDs, the strength of the growth and Marb indica-tors. Gibby is moderate in frame, with great length and depth, large testicles. Progeny are stretchy down the top and exhibit good muscle pattern. Females are broody; first ones calv-ing this spring.

This bull had all the things I look for in terms of performance and carcass. He is moderate in frame and stamps his progeny with great thickness and muscularity while maintaining moder-ate BW and frame. The 2019 calves were from 1st calf heifers with virtually no calving is-sues. These progeny are emerging as the top performers in their respective groups over several traits. All the top REA bulls are from this sire group.

Redland Red Angus 2019 sale. Confession time…this is the bull I went to buy. What a great set of numbers on a really nice bull. A square, stout bull with the power and mass of a great beef bull. The progeny should put some performance in their offspring and a great broody shape into the females. We are excited for the future of this bull in our program.

We took this bull back from a customer and used him as the 'relief pitcher' for the RED 837 bull. There is one bull in the offering and he is a pretty decent one. This 831 bull has a nice shape to him with a deep, meaty quarter and a strong top; good testicle size as well.

Redland Red Angus sale 2019. A well extended, calving ease type bull; excellent libido and disposition. Used to breed 1st calf heifers in 2019 with minimal calving issues; his actual BW was 76#. One of the most uniform sire groups of bulls I have ever seen in terms of pheno-type. They have stature, extension, flex, and level tops, with a great rectangular profile and natural width over the top.

The shape and expression of the bull as a yearling was hard to deny on sale day! Long, clean lines with great depth and dimension. The calving ease (average BW 77#) has been a nice bonus to couple with the performance of the progeny. The progeny are a bit more angu-lar with excellent extension through the top and front.

Who knew this photo would become a symbol of unity for our whole community on that fateful September day when wildfire nearly took our town. We are so luck to have a bull facility left!

Built to be a calving ease type bull. The BW is there and the EPDs are in an acceptable range. The 4047 daughters are long, sleek cattle with great extension down the top and through the front. The MGGD , 8022, is age 13 this spring and we will hope for another heifer calf to bolster the stayability of the line; she has 4 daughters in herd now. At her age, her calving interval is 368 days, Ave NR 102, Ave YR 104, and MPPA 102, and she summered in the best shape of her life last year. The young cow here is 9th generation of a line that has produced over 800 head in our registered cow herd, not counting the influence of herd bulls that we have used from this cow line.

Nearly all of these 837 sons exhibit a long, wide top and a full rectangular profile. This one posted some good performance numbers as well. Please note that I did put in actual BW as well as adjusted so that you get a feel for where they were really at. The shape is good and some of that BW is coming from the sheer length. If you look at the sire, you will see that he is not a rugged built animal either. The Legend daughters were a bit legendary and we retained quite a few of them. This 8002 heifer sits in the top 15% for growth traits and 8% for REA. This cow line is noted for tight, clean fronts, expansive rib shape, and full udders.

Another high performance effort from a first calf heifer. The growth numbers are pretty im-pressive here. The shape and expression of these 837 calves is the most uniform I have seen in a sire group of calves; it will be interesting to see how they look on mature cows. Of course there is some powerful performance in the cow side with the dam of Bull 012 as MGD. The dam of this lot, 8015, is ranking in the top 6% for WW and YW and 7% for ADG.

This little wild card bet turned out okay. I used this 831 bull as a back up plan for my corral breeding project and it clicked pretty good here. This bull has great shape and dimension, as well as good extension. The EPDs are pretty impressive as well. This young cow really did a job and I see a lot of her sire in this bull. Her mother is a favorite with the management around our outfit. This cow family ties back to Bull 034.
